3D2 & 3D2/R, FIJI AND ROTUMA ISLANDS (Update to OPDX.1118)
Andy, LZ2HM, has joined the team of Stan/LZ1GC and Rocky/3D2DD to be active from Fiji and Rotuma between September 20th and October 15th. Their schedule is as follows:

September 20-26th - Stan will be active as 3D2GC from the "Club Fiji Resort", Nadi, Fiji Republic, Viti Levu Island (OC-016, WW. Loc. RH82QF). Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW and SSB, with the following equipment: Kenwood TS-480 SAT + linear amplifier ACOM 1010/ACOM 1000. The antennas: EXP. GP 40-10m, 80/160 meters INV-L and GP.

September 27th-October 11th - Callsigns 3D2RA (Andy), 3D2GC/P and 3D2DD/P; from Rotuma Island (OC-060). Activity will be on all HF bands. Stan 3D2GC/P will active on all HF bands, CW/SSB together with Andy, 3D2RA and Rocky, 3D2DD. Rocky will also be active, but only on SSB with the callsign 3D2DD/P. Andy, 3D2RA, will be active on all HF bands, 160-2 meters CW/SSB/DIGITAL (PSK & SSTV) and special attention will be made to work by EME on 50 MHz on JT65A.

October 12-15th - Callsign 3D2GC again from Fiji Republic. On October 16th, Stan, LZ1GC, will go back to Bulgaria.

3DA0, SWAZILAND (Update to OPDX.1120/1122)
Roger/ZS6RJ and a Multi- International team of operators will be active as 3DA0ET from Piggs Peak, Swaziland, between November 18-27th. Some of the operators also took part in the 2012 7P8D DXpedition. Currently, the 12 operators mentioned are Emil/DL8JJ, Chris/G8APB , John/GW4SKA (RTTY Team Leader), Frosty/K5LBU (Co-Leader), George/KL7GS, Neil/VA7DX, Don/VE7DS, Keith/ VE7MID (Low-Band Leader), Bob/W5UQ, Victor/WB0TEV, Sam/ZS6BRZ and Roger/ ZS6RJ (Co-leader).

They plan to have 4 stations on the air, covering all the HF bands (160-10 meters) and 6 meters (secondary) using CW, SSB and RTTY. There will be a focus on RTTY, and they plan to have a dedicated full-time RTTY station on the air from start to finish. Roger, ZS6RJ, informs OPDX readers,

"We're also running an up-front survey (link on the home page) asking DXers what bands/modes etc. they need the most for Swaziland."

4O, MONTENEGRO
Gab, HA3JB, will be active as 4O/HG3IPA from Budva between September 23-30th. This activity will be valid for the HA-IPARC Award (International Police Association)

9L, SIERRA LEONE
Operators David/N4WDT and Jerry/K4ZIN are planning to be active from here between October 16-21st, and are currently waiting for a license approval. Activity will be on 160-10 meters with a focus on the 30/17/12 meters and lower bands. They will have two stations on the air at less 12 or more hours a day. QSL via LoTW or via their home callsigns.

CR2/CT8, AZORES
Kim, OH6KZP, will be active as CR2X from Ribeira Grande during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Single-Op/All- Band/High-Power entry. QSL via OH2BH. Before the contest, look for him to sign CT8/OH6KZP.

CR5150, PORTUGAL (Special Event)
Members of the Portuguese Navy Hamradio Club (NRA) will activate the special event station CR5150NM between September 8-14th. Activity is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Portuguese Navy Museum since it was founded by the King D. Luis I. Activity will be on all HF bands except 10 MHz using CW, SSB and eventualy PSK. A special QSL card is being produced, and it will be issued and sent to all contacted stations. Stations should send their QSL card by the Bureau or direct to CS5NRA.

DXAC NEWS
ARRL Great Lakes Director Jim, Weaver, K8JE, reports that he is "pleased to announce the appointment of Stan Arnett, AC8W, of Marysville, MI, as representative of the Great Lakes Division on the ARRL DX Advisory Committee (DXAC). Stan is a well-known in DX circles. He replaces Kirk Swallow, W8QID of Cincinnati who resigned after several years of service on the Committee." He also mentioned, "The DXAC reviews topics referred to it by the the ARRL Board of Directors and recommends action on these topics to the Board. DXAC was tasked at the July Board meeting to conduct a review of existing rules that govern DXCC and recommend possible changes to these rules. DXAC is just one of several advisory committees that provide input from members to the Board."

E5, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
Alan, K7AR, will be active as E51AAR from Rarotonga Island (OC-013), South Cook Islands, between October 21-26th. Activity will mainly be RTTY, and he will also participate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th). His equipment is a Elecraft K3 and KPA500. QSL via K7AR, direct or by the Bureau. Log will be uploaded to LoTW upon his return home. However, he will try to upload log on a daily basis to ClubLog.

FR, REUNION ISLAND
Willi, DJ7RJ, will be active as FR/DJ7RJ from Reunion Island (AF-016) between September 28th and November 2nd. Activity will be on 160-10 meters using CW and SSB. He prefers lowbands. Willi will use a K2 with a SS-Amp 500w into a INV-L 15m (49 ft) vertical and 12m (39ft) horizontal with 2-4 elevated radials each 20m (66ft) long. QSL via DJ7RJ, direct or by the Bureau.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Johannes, DF5AU, will be active as HB0/DF5AU between September 14-19th. Activity will be on the HF bands with a focus on the higher bands using a beam antenna and amp, operating CW and SSB. QSL via DF5AU, by the DARC Bureau, direct or LoTW.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Operators Uwe/DL4AAE and Roman/DL3TU will be active as HB0/homecall either the second or third full weekend in September. Their operation is "weather permitting" as they attempt to operate from the summit of Augstenberg (2359 meters A.S.L.) [SOTA HB0/LI-004] using CW only with an emphasis on Asia. Equipment consists of two K3's running 100 watts into a Delta Loops for 20, 15 and possibly 12 meters. QSLs via their home callsign, by the Bureau or direct (see QRZ.com). HP0, PANAMA (IOTA Tour Reminder)
By the time read this, operators Christian/EA3NT, Raul/EA5KA, Vincent/F4BKV and Col/MM0NDX, from the Invoker Team, have started their activation of six Panamanian island groups as HP0INT(/1,2,3,4 or 9) between September 5-19th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB. The team tentative schedule is as follows:

NA-130. Mike, VE2XB, will be active as VY0BRR from Qikiqtarjuaq or Broughton Island, in the Nunavut (Baffin Island) East IOTA Group between Sept 23-27th. Activity will be concentrated on 80/75/40 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via VE2XB. For more details and updates, see: http://www.vy0brr.jimdo.com

OC-108/ (Postponed/Update) John, YB5NOF, informs OPDX that the reason
OC-109/ for the postponement is that his wife had a stroke on August
OC-122. 23rd, and was in the hospital. He did mention that they will
try to activate Tambelan (OC-122, as YE5T) sometime in October. Exact days and time will depend on transport and weather. He states that the weather between October and February is bad in that area, but they hope to do an operation. While waiting for the ferry express coming from Pontianak - Serasan - Tambelan - Midai and stopping on Siantan Island (OC-108), they will be on the air as YE5R for 5 days. Activity for Natuna Selatan (OC-109) will not take place until April or May of 2014.

J4, GREECE (LH Op!)
Operators Costas/SV4FFL, Thanasis/SV4FFK, XYL Katerina/ SV4AFY, Jim/SV4AAQ, Nikos/SV4FFO, Tassos/SV4FFX and Kostas/SV4/SV8GGI will activate the Trikeri Lighthouse (GLHA GRE-128, ARLHS GRE-128, Admiralty E4442) for the second time in 5 years as J44LH between September 7-10th. JD1, MINAMI TORISHIMA (Update)
Take, JG8NQJ, is once again be active as JG8NQJ/JD1 from Marcus Island in the Minami Torishima (OC-073, JCG 10007) group until September 14th or 15th. He is there to work on the island's weather station. Activity will be limited to his spare time. He will be mainly on 17 meters but also on 15/12/10 meters CW. P29, PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Cancelled)
Akira, JA1NLX, was expected to be active as P29VNX from Lissenung Island (New Britain Island), in the Bismarck Archipelago IOTA Group (OC-008) this week, but it was cancelled due to flight problem.

PACIFIC DXPEDITION TOUR (Update/Reminder)
By the time you read this, Gerben, PG5M, should have started his Pacific tour starting from Palau Island (OC-009) as T8GM for two days (September 6-7th), and is now active as V6G from Yap Island (OC-012), in the Fed. States of Micronesia, until September 15th. He will return to Palau Island and operate between September 15-19th. This is a solo DXpedition and CW only. SILENT KEY
It has been reported that Steve Hodgson, ZC4LI (aka 5B4AHA, C4C, G0LII, G6G and ZD8LII) became a Silent Key (SK) on August 31st. He was a DXer and Contester who will be missed. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of ZC4LI.

SPECIAL EVENT (Highway to a DX Party!)
The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club of San Bernardino, California, will host (probably one of the most fun special event activities) the 14th annual "Route 66 On The Air" special event between September 7-15th. The purpose of this event is to offer amateur radio operators a fun way to "Relive the Ride" of their own memories of Route 66, and to celebrate the highway's 84th anniversary. The U.S. Highway 66 established in 1926, was the first major improved highway to link the west coast with the nations heartland. Through stories, songs, and TV shows, the highway came to symbolize the spirit of the freedom of the open road, inspiring many to see America. Look for the following 20 stations (three are rovers) operating in or around the major cities along the old "Route 66" from Santa Monica, California, to Chicago, Illinois:

R66 MOBILE Operations - Any amateurs operating while actually driving along Route 66 during the special event period are encouraged to take part in "Route 66 On The Air", by using the designation "mobile 66" for SSB or "/m66" for CW after their callsigns. All other amateur radio operators are welcome to contact these mobile operators.
REPEATERS - Some of the participating clubs will also be operating this event from their local VHF/UHF repeaters. Check the ARRL repeater guide for possible repeater frequencies, if your in the local area.

T30, WEST KIRIBATI
Operators Ted/JF1CCH and Kazu/JA1FUF will be active from West Kiribati between November 28th and December 4th. Activity will be on the HF bands (all mostly 40-10m) using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. Ted will operate mainly on CW and SSB, while Kazu will operate mainly RTTY and PSK. They will use 100 watts into a dipole. Their callsigns and QSL info will be forthcoming.

T32, EAST KIRIBATI (Update)
A team of operators (TBA) will activate T32RRC to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Russian Robinson Radio Club between December 3-11th. Tentatively, several USA members of the RRC are planning to be a part of the operating team and expressed a desire to celebrate the RRC anniversary with the T32RRC callsign.

On November 27th, Tim, NL8F, will arrive on Kiritimati Island and set-up one station at Captain Cook Hotel. If there are no unforeseen issues, Tim will be on the air using the T32TM callsign. There is no set plan at this time for Tim's operating hours. Tim will be active as on SSB or RTTY until December 4th.

Tim plans to operate part of the day and spend the rest of his time seeing the island or trying out the world class Bone fishing in between active periods. On December 4th, the balance of the T32 team will arrive and begin set-up of a second station and additional antennas. Once the balance of the team is on-site the T32RRC callsign will be the callsign used for the remainder of days the team is active on the island.

Please take note: This is a small DXpedition with limited resources. They will do their best to activate T32 with as much time devoted to the bands as possible. Currently, the plan is to have at least one station operating 24/7. They hope to have two stations operating during peak activity times. Unfortu- nately, there may be times when they are not on the air. Please understand that although this is not a "vacation style" expedition their manpower is limited and coverage day and night may strain resources. They will begin station dismantling on December 10th, with exception of Station 1 and certain band antennas. At 0500z, T32RRC will be QRT. Finish dismantling of stations and antennas. Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 1825, 3525, 7025, 10110, 14025, 18072, 21025, 24892 and 28025 kHz
SSB - 1840, 3790, 7085, 14190, 18140, 21295, 24945 and 28440 kHz
RTTY - 1828, 3588, 7040, 10140, 14080, 18102, 21092, 24920 and 28082 kHz

V5, NAMIBIA
Operator Hans/DF2UU and Hardy/DF3GY are now active as V55V from Omaruru, the QTH of Martin, V51W. They participated in the SSB Field Day (September 7-8th) this past weekend, and are expected to be in the Worked All Europe DX SSB Contest (September 14-15th). QSL via DJ8VC, by the Bureau or direct. Activity outside of the contest will be on 160-6 meters using CW and SSB.

VE, CANADA (Zone 2)
Members of the Association de Radio Amateurs Sept-Iles Inc. will be active as VE2CSI during the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 28-29th) as a Multi-2 entry. Operators mentioned are Dany/VE2EBK, Stéphane/ VE2SG and possibly others. QSL via M0URX.

Christoph, DL1YAF, is now active as VP9/DL1YAF from Ed, VP9GE's, Hamilton QTH

WAP NEWS
* The 11th WAP meeting will be held in Mondovì, Italy, on September 22nd, to talk about Antarctica. The event is a joint effort between the Italian Castle Award DCI www.dcia.it, the Italian Flora & Fauna IFF http://www.dcia.it/iffa and the Worldwide Antarctic Program [WAP] www.waponline.it. See:

* Operators Oleg/ZS1ANF (UA1PBA), Alex/UA1PAW and Slava UA1PAI (RD3MX) are almost ready to fly south where they expect to be active from the Antarctica. This time the goal is to activate Novo Runway (WAP MNB-06) with the callsign RI1ANR and to be active on the Low Bands from the Antarctic continent starting November 2013 through March 2014. Oleg, ZS1ANF, did verify to the WAP group that they will be on Novo Runway during this coming Antarctic season. He states, "I expect busy time down there, I want to concentrate on Low Bands, especially 160m band." They plan to install a 18 meters vertical by RA6LBS for TX, the same they used at Bellingshausen, a Beverage or a K9AY for RX; one XL-222 with RY-63 rotator from a Russian-Yagi for the High Bands. Also, they will have an ACOM1000 and some FT transceivers for the whole activity. Perhaps there will be a chance to visit other places during their stay. YN, NICARAGUA
Scott, K7ZO, will once again be active from here, but this time during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 26-27th) as a Single-Op/ All-Band entry. He will again use his smaller callsign YN5Z for the contest instead of his usual YN5ZO callsign. He usually operates "Field Day Style" using a 5 band Spiderbeam and 40m dipole on a push up mast. The radio is a TS-590 driving a KPA-500 amp. QSL via LoTW and K7ZO, direct or by the Bureau. Look for Scott to be active before/after the contest as well.

Z8, REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (Z81R by Robert, S53R)
Martti, OH2BH, sent out the following on September 5th:

"Under the auspices of Project Goodwill South Sudan, shared with the International Amateur Radio Union Region 1 and the Yasme Foundation and supported by Yaesu Musen Co. Ltd, the announcement of a much anticipated low-band operation is only a few weeks away. The multinational team is busy getting the equipment and other material into South Sudan.

Adding to the Z81X operation of last spring, Robert, S53R, will be in Juba, for a work assignment and will be involved with a preparatory phase of Project Goodwill South Sudan.

He is going to sign Z81R from September 10 to September 14, while the activity will be sporadic because of his professional duties.

QSLs for this operation will be handled by Martti, OH2BH."
