4-14th. The "RaDAR" is short for "Rapid Deployment Amateur Radio", and
this is an international concept of Radio Amateurs being able to operate
anywhere under all circumstances. The goal is to set up an Amateur Radio
station quickly on remote sites anywhere using only battery power. Any-
where means not only sites reachable by car but also on locations after
a few miles walk. The 5×5 concept means being able to communicate by
Amateur Radio within 5 minutes after arriving with the QRP power of
5 watts maximum. The "Lowlands 5x5 RaDAR Group" is not a club with payed
membership. It's the concept that brings these Dutch Radio Amateurs
together. For more info, check Elmar/PD3EM Web site at:
PJ2, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES (Press Release)
The following press release was
received by John Barcroft, K6AM, dated August 26th:
"NEW DXCC OPERATIONS ON CURACAO STARTING 10-10-10 -- As many of you know by now, the Netherlands Antilles will likely be dissolved as a country on October 10, 2010. Several new DXCC entities will result from this change including the addition of the island of Curacao (PJ2) as a new DXCC entity separate from Bonaire (PJ4).PJ5 & PJ7, NETHERLANDS ANTILLESSince this will meet the criteria for a new DXCC entity, we expect all operations to be accepted as of 10/10/10. While ARRL approval is not 100% guaranteed, and may not be officially announced until all DXCC requirements are documented, plans are in place to mount several operations from the Signal Point super-station, PJ2T on Curacao beginning on day one.
The first operation runs from Oct 10 until Oct 18 with a group led by K8ND. They will be followed closely by a team of nine operators from the U.S. and Germany who will be there through November 2nd including a M/M entry in the CQWW SSB contest. We will be using both PJ2/homecall and PJ2T during the 3-week run. We will be on all bands before the contest, including 6 meters, running CW, SSB and RTTY. Considering the number of simultaneous new entity operations, frequencies will be selected to avoid interference.
The GAREC conference (http://www.garec.net/) is being held on Curacao October 11-12th, and we will be opening the PJ2T station to any of the participating amateurs from around the world who wish to operate in their free time before or after the conference. The station will also be open to any local Curacao amateurs who wish to operate from Signal Point during the post 10-10-10 week.
These will not be sponsored expeditions nor are donations being solic- ited. The operators involved are covering all costs. QSL as instructed on (QRZ.com)"

active as YK1BA from Damascus starting September 6th. He mentions that
his tearing down will be on September 17th. Saad's priority is to work
everyone that needs YK for a new country/band/mode, and he asks to help
him by following the guidelines on (QRZ.com). Saad states that his operating
hours will be spotty but will try to put in as much radio time as possible.
He suggests that his probable operating hours will be between 2000-2300z or between 0200-0500z and possibly some occasional activities between 1200-1400z. He will work any band that is open, but will try to focus on the high bands (including 30/17/12m) on this trip. Saad will be active on CW, SSB and RTTY. PLEASE NOTE: ALL QSLs should go direct to N5FF. The mailing address is Saad Mahaini, 428 Brook Glen Drive. Richardson, TX 75080, USA.
Saad states, "I prefer the self adhesive type of envelopes not the ones that you have to lick. Also, please use International mail envelopes for international requests. These are the ones with red and blue markings and that say 'Air Mail' on them..... My turn around is usually less than a month. Please only Green Stamps. I'm ok with two, but more will be much appreciated to help offset my overall QSLing cost. Remember, I reply to about 3000 QSOs a year on average. Direct QSL requests that don't have a self addressed return envelope and 2 GS for return postage will be returned via the Bureau."
