5I, TANZANIA
Igor, UA3DJY, is once again back in Dar Es Salaam, and is operating from the DIT Communications Club station, 5I3A, until March 1st. He will try to be active on all bands. This past weekend Igor was on 40/20/15 meters CW and 17/15 meters SSB. QSL via RK3AOL.

5I, TANZANIA
After the Tonga operation as A35HA and his Falkland Island operation as VP8BUH, Uruguayan globetrotter Bert, CX3AN, will visit Tanzania during the first 2 weeks of February. Look for him on the bands, joined by Igor/UA3DJY and Paul/5H3PF to activate the Dar Es Salaam's Institute of Technology (DIT) radio club station 5I3A. Activity will be mostly SSB and CW using a FT-1000 MP and a log periodic between 20-10 meters.

6V7, SENEGAL
Luc, F5RAV, will be active from La Somone between February 18th and March 1st. He will operate from Jean-Francois, 6W7RV, QTH as 6W7RV. QSL via only direct to his home callsign.

AO1, SPAIN (Special Event)
Spanish operators will activate the special callsign AO1ANT between February 22-28th. Activity is to celebrate the international event "Seventh Antarctic Week". Their reference number will be WAP-180 and their activity will be on SSB, CW, PSK31 and RTTY modes, using all the amateur bands from 160-10 meters. C6, BAHAMAS (Correction)
Operators Bob/N4BP (C6AKQ), Mike/K4RUM (C6AUM) and Tim/N4UM (C6ARU) will be in Freeport, Lucaya, Bahamas, beginning Monday, February 15th, with Kevin/K4PG (C6APG) joining them on Thursday, February 18th. The operators will enter the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February 20-21st) as individual entries (Bob/C6AKQ on 80 meters, Kevin/C6APG on 40 meters and Mike/C6AUM possibly on 160 meters. Tim will announce his entry when he knows). Prior to the contest they will be operating on the 30/17/12 meter bands, HF bands using CW and the Digital modes. C9, MOZAMBIQUE
David, GI4FUM (EI4DJ/3DA0DJ), who has recently returned from a visit with his family to the Mpumalanga region of South Africa which included 5 days in the Kruger National Park, announced that he is planning a DXpedition to Mozambique in October 2010, to operate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest and also possibly the JOTA. Richard Moseson/W2VU, Editorial Director of CQ Communications, Inc., reports: "Richard Fisher, KI6SN, Named Editor of WorldRadio Online -- (Hicksville, NY January 20, 2010) ­ Veteran journalist and writer Richard Fisher, KI6SN, has been named Editor of WorldRadio Online, effective with the April issue, Publisher Richard Ross, K2MGA, announced today. Fisher will succeed Nancy Kott, WZ8C, who is stepping down.

Kott has been Editor of WorldRadio and WorldRadio Online for the past eight years, guiding the magazine through its transition a year ago from print to online publication. She announced her impending departure in the February issue, which was posted online today.

Fisher, 59, recently completed a 35-year career in newspaper print and online journalism in a variety of reporting, editing and management roles. He also has a 17-year association with WorldRadio, first joining the magazine in 1993 as its QRP (low power) columnist ­ a post he held until the magazine's transition from print to online in February 2009.

Fisher is currently a columnist for three magazines published by CQ Communications, Inc. In addition to his WorldRadio Online editing duties, he will continue to write the "Washington Beat" column for Popular Communications, the "Public Service" column for CQ Amateur Radio, and the "Trail-Friendly Radio" column for WorldRadio Online.

Fisher also manages two related Internet sites, "CQ Public Service On The Web" ( http://www.CQPublicService.blogspot.com) and "Trail-Friendly Radio Extra"

He has been licensed 45 years, obtaining his Novice ticket in 1965 at age 14. Fisher is an Extra class licensee who enjoys CW, building has own gear, QRP, contesting, ragchewing, 2-meter FM simplex, antenna experimentation and outdoor operations. He is a co-founder of the Adventure Radio Society.

'The past year has been very exciting and very challenging for all of us as we have learned the logistics of online publishing,' commented CQ Communications Editorial Director Rich Moseson, W2VU. 'I have enjoyed working with Nancy through that process and I am sorry that she will be leaving. We wish Nancy all the best in her future endeavors.'

E7, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
Mario, DJ2MX (9A4MX, N0MX, E73DX), informs OPDX that he will be part of E7DX contest team in the upcoming CQ 160m CW Contest (January 29-31st). QSL E7DX via E77E. FO/A, AUSTRAL ISLANDS (Update/New Callsign/IOTA Op)
German operators Wulf/DL1AWI, Peter/DL3APO and Mat/DL5XU should be active by the time you read this as TX3D from Raivavae Island (OC-114, DIFO FO-122, WLOTA L-2581) in the Austral Islands group. Activity will last through February 4th. When the team arrived on January 19th, they only had 50% of their baggages. However, by Saturday, January 23rd, the team received the rest of their equipment and baggages. Remember that their focus will be mainly the lower bands 160-30 meters but will work some higher bands on SSB and RTTY. QSL via TX3D via DL1AWI and FO/DL3APO via DL3APO. Send QSLs direct or by the Bureau. Direct QSLs must have one IRC (new) or two USDs in order to cover the postage. IOTA NEWS
EU-118. RARE IOTA (Update)! Operators Oscar/EA1DR, George/EA2TA, Christian/EA3NT, Col/MM0NDX and Bjorn/SM0MDG are planning a DXpedition to Flannan Isles (a extremely difficult island to land on) between June 18­21st. Last activation was in 2002 (also in 1989 and 1995). Callsign will be MS0INT. Their main target will be working as many JA stations as possible and giving everyone a fair chance of working the EU-118 IOTA reference. Therefore, they aim to be active on 80-10 meters trying to get advantage on the best bands, with 2 simultaneous stations on the air, one on CW and another on SSB. They state, "Since our stay on the island is limited, please remember that 1 QSO will be enough, no matter the band." QSL Manager will be M0URX. Their Web page is now available at:

NA-079. (Update) Members of the Amateur Radio Outdoor Adventures, Inc., will be activating Grid Square EL84, March 11-15. Activity will be from Fort Jefferson, Garden Key in the Dry Tortugas (USI FL-013S, USA-316, Monroe County, Florida) 72 miles west of Key West. KH2, GUAM (OC-026)
Look for members of TIARA (Tokyo International Amateur Radio Association) to once again be active as homecall/KH2 between February 25th and March 1st. K5D QSOS NOW ON LOTW! Bob, K4UEE, reports: "As of January 10th, 2010, N2OO and his QSL team from the SJDXA, have confirmed 59,827 QSOs with those individuals who had requested K5D confirmations. This includes all direct requests and requests via the very popular OQRS (Online QSL Request System). As requests were completed, the QSOs were simultaneously uploaded to LOTW resulting in 25,412 matches. All bureau requests will be filled in the next few months.

Now that all requested QSLs have been answered the remaining QSOs have been uploaded to LOTW, resulting in an additional 12,647 matches.

The KP1-5 Project wishes to thank the QSL managers for their untiring efforts over the last 8 months. These volunteers have done an extraordinary job of confirming your QSOs from this #6 Most needed DXCC entity."

SILENT KEY
Rich, W2VU, from CQ Magazine, reports: "It is with great sadness that we report that our friend and longtime colleague, Dave Ingram, K4TWJ, became a Silent Key this morning (Jan. 20), as a result of complications from a massive heart attack he suffered on New Year's Eve. Dave has been writing for CQ at least since 1981 and has been a CQ columnist since 1982, starting with an amateur television column called World of Video. That column eventually broadened its outlook and became World of Ideas, Dave's signature monthly column in CQ. Regular topics included code keys, stealth antennas, building 'new vintage' tube gear and mobiling. In addition, for the past decade, Dave has been CQ's QRP (low power) Editor and 'How it Works' columnist. His enthusiasm for whatever caught his interest was contagious and spread widely through his informal yet educational writing style. Funeral arrangements are not complete as of this writing. We will post additional information on the CQ website news page when it becomes available. Condolence cards may be sent to Dave's wife, Sandy, WB4OEE, at their Callbook address."

V3, BELIZE (Update)
Art, NN7A, will be active as V31JZ/p from Turneffe Islands (NA-123) between February 24th and March 3rd. Activity will be holiday style from a cottage on the beach using generator power. Art states, "This coral atoll is located in the Caribbean Sea about 25 miles (40 km) east of Belize City. It is shaded by coconut palms and mellowed by soft tropical breezes." His operation will be mostly CW on 40-17 meters (including 30/17/12m), with some 160/80 meters and some ssb on 20/15 meters on the usual IOTA frequencies if possible, conditions permitting. VK9C, LORD HOWE ISLAND
Tomas, VK2CCC (aka LY1F), will be active as VK9CLH between May 24­31st. Activity will be limited to his spare time on 160/80 meters, and he plans to participate in CQ WPX CW Contest (May 29-30th). VP5/VQ5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS
