DXCC COUNTRY/ENTITY REPORT
According to the AR-Cluster Network for the week of Sunday, 14th-September, through Sunday, 21st-September there were 208 countries active. 3B7, ST. BRANDON ISLAND
Rachid, 3B8FQ, is planning to activate St. Brandon Island as 3B7FQ, in October. The dates of the operation have not been determined. As in April, when Rachid operated 3B6FQ from Agalega Is., this will be a working trip, with on-air activities shared with meteorological maintenance duties. Rachid's 3B6FQ operation netted almost 500 QSOs from Agalega.

More specific details will be disseminated closer to the departure date. QSL all of Rachid's operations via K5XK. Ron reports that he has moved to a new QTH, delaying some QSL replies for 3B8FQ and 3B6FQ. Cards for both operations are printed and replies to all direct requests will be mailed within the next week. Bureau requests that have been received will go out in October.

3V, TUNISIA
Dmitry, RW4WM, will be active as 3V8SS from Sousse between September 29th and October 8th. Look for activity on CW and SSB, with some RTTY. QSLs for this operation go via RW4WM, direct or by the Bureau.

5Z, KENYA
Valery, 5Z4/RW1AU, continues to be quite active from Nairobi and is currently, only on 20 meters SSB, but a keyer is enroute, and if it arrives safely, Val will be very active on CW in the near future. The keyer will remain at the 5Z4RS club station for others to use after his departure. Since Val is on a temporary work assignment, it is not known how long how long he will be in Kenya. Look for Val on weekends, and periodically on weeknights after work (after 1500z). Val will reply to eQSL requests and should have his LoTW documentation completed soon. QSL via RW1AU's instructions on QRZ.com; Val's QSL Manager, K5XK, has a new address, which is also "OK" on QRZ.com. Printed color QSLs are being printed and will be mailed out within the next 2-3 weeks.

8Q7, MALDIVES
Mark/M0DXR, and his XYL Gemma/2E0WPX, (who were just married this past weekend) will be here on their honeymoon between September 22nd and October 5th. Both are expected to be active as 8Q7XR and will be operating on CW and SSB on 40-10 meters using an IC-7000 and a G5RV dipole. QSL via M0DXR, direct or by the bureau.

A2, BOTSWANA
Just a reminder that Sigi/DL7DF and a team of operators will be active as A25/DL7DF this week from Botswana between September 23rd and October 6th. They plan to have several stations on the air on 160-10 meters using CW and SSB. One station will be exclusively dedicated to RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV. Operators mentioned are: Manfred/DK1BT, Wolfgang/ DL4WK, Andy/DL5CW, Sigi/DL7DF, Frank/DL7UFR and Leszek/SP3DOI. QSL via DL7DF, direct or by the DARC Bureau. A4, OMAN
Members of the Lufthansa Amateur Radio Club (LARC) and the Norden District of the DARC (DOK I09), will be guests of the Royal Omani ARS (ROARS) and operate under the following two callsigns between October 30th and November 11th:
A43DLH - from the ROARS HQ
A43DLH/P - from the Omani Scout camp
Activity will be around the clock on 160 meters and up on as many bands as possible. Modes will be: CW, SSB and the Digital modes (included SSTV). QSL Manager is Rudi, DK7PE.

A6, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Don, N1DG, is leaving shortly for A6, A7 and A9. However, Don states that he only intends to operate from A61AD around September 27-30th. He expects to be in the CQWW RTTY Contest (September 27-28th) for a few hours. Don adds that if anyone is desperate for an A6 contact on 20-10m inclusive, to send him an E-mail and he will be happy to try to oblige (CW SSB and RTTY only please). CANADIAN SPECIAL EVENT
All radio amateurs in Canada are encouraged to participate in the upcoming "Special Event Prefixes" between October 1st and November 30th. The special event prefixes commemorate the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858. Look for radio amateurs in Canada to use the following prefixes:

                     VE -- CK     VO -- CY
                     VA -- CJ     VY -- CZ

CENTRAL PACIFIC TOUR (T30 and T31, possibly C21 and T33)
Toshi, JA8BMK, is expected to depart Sapporo on September 30th to Fiji (3D2) and fly from there to Western Kiribati (T30). His expected arrival is on October 2nd. Ships travel to Central Kiribati (T31) run about every 30-45 days, so while waiting to traveling to T31, Toshi will activate T30 for an unknown period of time. Equipment has already been shipped and waiting in T30. His equipment includes: Yaesu VLA-1000, TL933, 3 Generators, Yagi Antenna, Vertical antenna, Tent and Toyota van. He is also carrying additional equipment including an IC-7000, FT-897D and a HL-1.2KFX (Tokyo High Power).

Toshi operates on CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV. He will concentrate on EU and USA openings on the lower bands and the 30/17/12 meter bands. If possible, he will try to go Nauru (C21) and Banaba Island (T33). Because of long intervals between the boats to T31, he may be on the Island (Canton Island mentioned) for 2-3 months. E7, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA
Look for E73M to be active during the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 27-28th) as a Multi-Single entry. Operators mentioned are Danny/E73M, Boris/E73Y, Edin/E74A and Kula/E74KC. QSL via E73Y or K2PF.

ER600, MOLDOVA (Special Event)
Look for ER600B to be active until October 8th. Activity is to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the founding of the city of Bendery. QSL direct via RW6HS. A "Bendery - 600" award is available by working ER600B and 4 other contacts with stations located in the town of Bendery. Details are available at:

EW, BELARUS
Andrei, NP3D, will be active as EW1AR during his vacation in Minsk between September 22-29th. Look for him to be in the CQWW DX RTTY Contest (September 27-28th). Before the contest he will be active on all HF bands and modes, but mostly RTTY. He states that his operation is in memory of EU1MM. QSL via W3HNK, LoTW or direct to NP3D.

FY, FRENCH GUIANA
Operators F1HAR, F5HRY, F6FGZ, F6FVY and FY5FY will be active as FY5KE during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via FY5KE.

H40, TEMOTU ISLANDS (Update - IOTA Op)
Mike/KM9D and Jan/KF4TUG, are on Vanikolo Island (OC-163). Mike came on the air around 1945z, Saturday as H40MY. As this was being typed, he was active on 20 meters CW. As of press time length of stay is unknown. QSL via OM2SA. LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Paul, A35RK, talked to Mike and Jan at 0330Z, Sunday, and here's their story: The weather is still a problem for them...high winds and rough seas are making it difficult. Transporting equipment ashore is a bit hazardous, so Mike has only been able to erect dipoles for 20 and 17M. The BigIR set-up will have to wait for 2-3 days when the winds are forecast to abate. But the good news is that they are established on shore, and Mike has been active on CW. They will be there for awhile, so the IOTA crowd should be happy with that."

IOTA NEWS
AS-117. Look for JA1YUC/1 to be active from Uki Island, JA1 Chiba Pref, starting September 23rd. Activity will be on the HF bands, CW and SSB. NA-233. (New One!)The same group that activated Chuginadak Island (NA-234) is now planning to activate Gareloi Island (NA-233) in the Delarof Islands Group next year. OC-035. Andrew, VK4HAM, will be active as YJ0AAC from Efate Island , Vanuatu, between March 25th and April 1st of 2009. Activity will be on 80-10 meters. He also plans to be in the 2009 CQ WPX SSB Contest. QSL via VK4HAM.

J4, CRETE
Uli, DJ9XB, will be active as J49XB between now and October 4th. He will probably be in the CQWW RTTY Contest (September 27-28th) because he likes RTTY. Also watch 160 meters. QSL via his home callsigns.

JX, JAN MAYEN
Al, LA9SN, will once again be active as JX9SN for only a few hours on October 8th. Watch for him on CW on 30 and 20 meters. QSL direct to LA9SN.

KH8, AMERICAN SAMOA
Paul, A35RK, informs OPDX that he will be active as KH8/KK6H, from Larry's (AH8LG) house, December 5-9th. Activity will be CW and SSB. Paul states, "This will be a 'casual' operation, but I will listen for Europe at local sunset (UTC+12), on 20m....that should be about 0600-0700Z, and should be a pretty good grayline path. The Americas should be a piece of cake just about anytime during local daylight hours, on 20 or 17m." QSL via W7TSQ or LoTW.

KP4, PUERTO RICO
Joachim, KP4EE, will be active as KP4KE during the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry.

LONGER PACIFIC TOUR (Update)
Hugh, K6HFA, is now making a longer trip/stay in the Pacific before he joins up with the team who will be activating three IOTAs in Papua-New Guinea (see OPDX.871). Look for him to be active this week from Tonga between September 23rd and October 11th. He will then go to one of the Papua New Guinea islands in the Bismarck Archipelago (OC-008) group before joining the team between October 12-18th. For more details and updates, visit:

MOTOROLA SPECIAL EVENT
The various facilities of Motorola's Amateur Radio Clubs will host a special event on October 4-5th, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the incorporation of Motorola. Expect CW and SSB activity from K9MOT (Illinois), KM0TO (Illinois), W4MOT (Florida) and WA4MOT (Florida), as well as from JQ1YVR/1 (Tokyo, Japan). QSL via operators' instructions. OJ0, MARKET REEF (OH2BH Press Release)

"Yes, you got it right, for eleven days temperatures in this Far North region will have dropped to some 6C. Spending almost a fortnight in a damp and cold lighthouse takes some determination, with no shower and no reasonable sanitary facilities available.

Operators Pertti/OH2PM, Ilmo/OH2BO, Henry/OH3JR and Lars/OH0RJ will attempt a landing this early Friday morning. They will run two Yaesu FT-1000MPs and Alpha 91B amplifiers. They have built a special array for 160M hoping for some early propagation into the United States. Also, they will run a SteppIR beam, a Butternut HF-2V and an assortment of wires.

During this coming weekend, Pertti, OH2PM, will be running the Scandinavian Activity Contest (CW single-op all-band), and the following weekend the same thing on SSB

LOGS RESCUED! Glenn, K3SWZ, was able to retrieve the logs from the trash for Dr. Timothy Peter Hulick, W9QQ's (SK), operations as KG4QQ, V47QQ and PJ9Q. Glenn informs OPDX, "I have blank QSL cards, just in case someone may need a card.... SASE to K3SWZ."

NOT THE QSL MANAGER. Oreste, IZ8EDJ, reports that he is receiving some QSLs for V51SWK, but he is NOT the QSL Manager. All the QSLs will be sent back. He is the QSL Manager for V51KC, V55O [2005], V55SRT, YI3SRA and IQ8OM.

OOOPPPSS! Your editor must of had Clipperton Island on his mind last week, because we reported to QSL TX5C via OH2BH. This is incorrect and it should have said "QSL TC4X via OH2BH". TC4X was the Finnish-Turkish Friendship Consortium station that was active during the "Worked All Europe DX SSB Contest" last weekend. By the way, TX5C is via N7CQQ.

T6, AFGHANISTAN (Just a reminder)
John, KE6GFF, informed OPDX that he will once again be operating as T6EE from Kabul durng the month of October. He will be on 20 meters SSB (14.2 MHZ +/- QRM as dictated by his Afghan license). His station will consist of a FT897d, YP3 yagi, Buddipole dipole and wire antennas, using a truck battery for power. T8, PALAU
Operators Lee/HL1IWD and Harry/WX8C will be active as T88YB and T88OO, respectively, from October 24-27th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and possibly some RTTY. The operation will include an entry in CQWW SSB contest as T88YB. QSL via their home callsigns, by the Bureau or direct.

T8, PALAU
Operators Yoshi/JK2VOC and Nose/JA2BNN will be active as T88FY and T88AC, respectively, between October 23-28th. Activity will include the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Single-Op/All- Band entry. QSL via their home callsigns.

TR50, GABON
Roland, F8EN, will be back again in Libreville from mid- December to mid-January. Look for him to use the special callsign TR50R until December 31st. After January 1st, he will then use the callsign TR8CR. QSL via F6AJA.

TY, BENIN
Just a few more days to work Serge, F6AML, (a member of the F6KOP team) as TY6A in Cotonou. He should be on the air until September 24th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW and SSB only; sorry this time, no digital. Suggested frequencies are as follows (+/- QRM):
CW - 3525, 7025, 10115, 14025, 18071, 21025, 24892 and 28025
SSB - 3785, 7057, 14235, 18140, 21275, 24944 and 28444 kHz
Serge will use a FT-857D w/amp (800w) into a HF6V and inverted V for 80m. QSL via his home callsign, by the bureau or direct with SAE + 2 USDs or 1 IRC.

VA2, CANADA
Operators VE2PGI, VE2CVI and VE2GTZ will be active as VA2ZM during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via VA2ZM direct.

VK9, WILLIS ISLAND (Update)
Chris, DL1MGB/VK9DWX, reports on September 19th in News #7 (an Excerpt) - Young DXpeditioners on Willis:

"We have decided! It was a very difficult decision for us, we have got 22 applications, all of them avid contesters and DXers, unfortunately some of them did not meet the age criteria, others with visa-problems had to withdraw. Two of them were outstanding in performance, dedication and commitment. These two rookies to join our expedition to Willis Isl. are:

* On the first part: W4WJF, William Joshua (Josh) Fischer, from North Carolina, USA, 21 years old
* On the second part: ZS6DXB, Rhynhardt (Rhy) Louw from JHB, Rep. of South Africa, 25 years old
We are very happy to announce this decision to the DXers community and hope that this will encourage further DXpeditions to take similar or even better approaches to promote and "elmer" young DXers and Contesters.

Preparations

All our preparations are entering the final stage. 1.4 tons of material are on its way and as our carrier told us, it is about to arrive in Australia with the "MS Ute Oltmann" in these days.

There will be a vanguard consisting of Joerg (DL8WPX), Gerd (DJ5IW) and Robert (SP5XVY) who will fly to Cairns by Friday 26th, followed by Dieter, DL8OH, who departs two days later. They will meet our man in Australia, Dale (VK4DMC), and together will take care of all necessary work, in particular, to meet our boat charter, get all material cleared and all additional purchases done. The idea is to fight Murphy as effective as possible and to prepare the departure of our vessel, the "MV Floreat", as actual as we can, before the crew steps in and the show will begin. We will keep you informed!"

VR, HONG KONG (AS-006)
Vincent, F4BKV, is now working here until September 2009. Look for him to sign as VR2/F4BKV using an FT-857D with 100 watts and random wires from a small apartment on the 22nd floor in the Wan Chai District. Activity will be mostly PSK31 with some SSB.

YB0, INDONESIA
Pri, YB0ECT, will be active during the CQ WW DX RTTY Contest (Septmber 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/Low-Power entry. QSL via K3AIR.

ZS8, MARION ISLANDS
