4U1, ITU HQ (Special Activity)
Look for the special callsign 4U1WRC to
be used between October 22nd and November 16th. Activity is taking place
from the International Amateur Radio Club station 4U1ITU in Geneva during
the 2007 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC). It was mentioned that
4U1WRC is also expected to be active during the upcoming CQ World Wide
DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th).
4X, ISRAEL
Operators Hal/W8HC, Jerry/K8OQL, Slava/4Z5MU, Azar/4X6MI,

CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi-Single entry.

6V, SENEGAL
Operator Javier, EA1FDI, will be active as 6V7G during the
CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th). Operating class is unknown.

Tom, W2SC, will be active as 8P5A during the CQWW DX SSB

Island (AS-013), October 29th-November 10th. Activity will be holiday

9K, KUWAIT

9M2, WESTERN MALAYSIA
Operator Rich, G4ZFE, will be active as 9M2CNC
during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/

AH2, GUAM
Members of the Guam Contest Club will be active as AH2R during
the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL
via JH7QXJ. Operators mentioned are: Kuzamasa/JG3RPL, Toshinobu/JI3ERV,
Sato/JH7QXJ, Mikawa/JR7OMD and Masaki/JO1DFG. They suggest to "Please
listen to 7075-7100 carefully." DO NOT SEND QSLS to the KH2 address or
the Bureau, ONLY to the JARL Manager (via JARL ACCEPTED).
AO5, SPAIN (Polar Ship)
A group of Spainish (EA5s) operators have obtained
permission to operate on board the polar research ship "Hesperides" in
Cartagena. The operation will take place from November 3-4th using the
callsign AO5URD. This activity will be valid for the Antarctic Challenge
as a polar ship.
AO8, CANARY ISLANDS
Operators EA8AH, EA8CAC, EA8ZS, ES2RR, OH5XT, OH6XX
and OH9MM will be active as AO8A during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest
(October 27-28th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via EA8AH.
ARCTIC STATION
Operator Mikhail Fokin, RW1AI, is now active as R35NP from
the "North Pole 35" drifting station in the Arctic. He will remain there
until the summer of 2008. Current position is about 82N 101E in ITU Zone
75. Mike is running only 100 watts on 20, 30 and 40m both CW/SSB. QSL via

ANTARCTIC CRUISE/DXPEDITION
Mehdi, F5PFP, is organizing an Antarctic
cruise/DXpedition of 4 weeks with an appropriate and safe sailing boat
for January 2009. The trip will start in Ushuaia. Here are some the
islands that are scheduled to be visited:
1 - KING GEORGE Island: Macchu Picchu base, Station G (traces), Rep del Ecuador, Comdt Ferraz, and Lenie field station.At this stage Mehdi is searching for 5 passengers (amateur radio op or not). If you are interested and for more details, send him an E-mail at: f5pfp@aliceadsl.fr
2 - NELSON Island: Gurruchaga refuge

B1, CHINA
A Chinese team which includes Fan/BA1RB, Yongjian/BA1AJ, BG1AC,
Mok/BD1ES, BG1AI, Hongxiang/BD1LBE, Yue/BD1LBF and foreign operators
James/9V1YC, Richard/K5SF and Doc/VE2QV will be active as B1Z during the
CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi-Multi entry.
Activity will be on all bands including 160 meters.
CARIBBEAN TOUR (Update to OPDX.828)
Alan, WQ5W, will be operating as
C6AQW from Treasure Cay, Abaco Island (NA-080), in the Bahamas from October
25-31st, from Dominica as J75W, November 21-28th and from Antigua as V25W,
November 30th-December 2nd. During his tour Alan will be active in a
couple of contests. As we mentioned in last week's bulletin, look for him
(as C6AQW) to be in the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th)
while on Abaco Island as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m)/Low-Power entry.
From Antigua (IOTA NA-100, Grid square FK97), Alan has reserved the special callsign V25W and will be operating from the V26B superstation in the northern part of the island. The primary purpose of this trip is to operate in the ARRL 160M Contest (November 30th-December 2nd) as a High-Power entry. Alan anticipates very little if any operation outside of the contest on this trip. Alan says “This is a purely contest operation and I hope to put the V2 multiplier in lots of logs during the contest.
From Dominica (IOTA NA-101, Grid Square FK95), Alan will use the specially issued callsign J75W for this and future DXpeditions to the beautiful isle. The primary purpose of this trip is to operate as a Single-Op/ Single-Band (40m) entry in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th). Alan currently holds the 40m North American record in CQWW CW as ZF2TG in 1992 and hopes to break his own record during this operation. His QTH will be on top of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean on the northeast side of the island with a clear shot to EU, NA and Asia. Alan says “When I was a teenager in the late 80’s I always wanted to go to J7 to operate because it was a lot rarer then than it is now and looked so beautiful. This trip will mark the realization of that dream and the chance to beat my own NA 40M record in CQWW CW.”
Outside of the contest on C6 and J7, look for activity on all bands, especially on 160/80/30/17/12 meters, CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL all operations via WQ5W and LoTW. Logs will be uploaded to LoTW throughout the expeditions and immediately following its conclusion. Paper QSLs will also be available via WQ5W direct with SASE or Greenstamp and via the bureau. CE0, EASTER ISLAND (SA-001)
Operators Slaven/9A4X and Zdenko/9A5RR will
be active from here betweem October 23-31st. They are expected to be
active as CE0Y/9A4X on all bands. They will also sign as CC0Y during the
CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band

CN, MOROCCO
Members of the UA2 Contest Club will be active during the
CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
entry.

Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Manager, reports that the following
operation is approved for DXCC credit:
E2/HS, THAILAND (RAST - WARC bands authorized in new Amateur Radio Act)
The RAST announced this past week the following: "Thailand's Intermediate
and Advanced class radio amateurs are now permitted to operate on the
so-called WARC bands (10-, 18- and 24-MHz) as well as in windows in the
CW portion of the 80-metre (3.5-MHz) and 160-metre (1.8-MHz) bands on a
permanent basis. The authorization, granted in a new Act governing amateur
radio in Thailand by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC),
follows years of lobbying by the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand (RAST).
The details were published in the Royal Gazette on October 11, 2007,
becoming effective the following day." Thai stations can now use the
following frequencies:
160m - 1.800-1.825 MHzNo changes were made to the VHF bands, where 6-meters (50-54 MHz) and 1240 MHz are still off-limits and 430 MHz (70-cm) is authorized for monitoring only, such as to listen to satellite downlinks. Two meters (144-MHz) is channelized and minor amendments were made to repeater allocations. FM, MARTINIQUE
Mike, K9NW, will be active as FM/K9NW in the CQWW DX
SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. He will

FRACAP CONVENTION
Jorge, TG9AAJ, CRAG President (Club de Radio Aficionados
de Guatemala), announces that the next FRACAP (Federacion de Radio
Aficionados de Centro America y Panama) Convention will be hosted once
again in the beautiful city of Antigua in Guatemala from November 23-25th.

FS, ST. MARTIN
Paul, K1XM, will be active as FS/K1XM during the CQ World
Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. Look
for him to be active a few days before the contest (probably Tuesday or

FY, FRENCH GUIANA
Operators F1HAR, F5HRY, F5MZN, F6FGZ, F6FVY and FY5FY
will be active as FY5KE during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October
27-28th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via FY5KE.
HR, HONDURAS
Dan, HR2DMR, is expected to be active in the CQ World Wide
DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry.

HS35, THAILAND
The 35th SEANET Convention will take place in Thailand's
fourth-largest city, the northern town of Lampang, from November 8-11th.
Activity includes a traditional wedding ceremony on elephant-back, visits
to hot springs, a tour of a power-generating plant, sight-seeing tours and
a northern Thai feast along with a welcome dinner. Then there will be the
grand gala dinner on Saturday evening and the technical session on Sunday
morning featuring, among other things, an account of the 3B7C St Brandon
DXpedition. Also, look for special event station HS35SEA to be on the air
from the Wienglakor Hotel during the event. Complete details can be found

IOTA NEWS
AS-040. Look for JA6QIN/6 to be active from four different islands
in the Goto Island Group between November 5-7th. Islands
mentioned are: Arifuku, Wakamatsu, Zuga and Nakadori (all in
the JA6 Nagasaki Pref). Activity will be on the HF bands.

NA-041. Rick, K6VVA, will once again activate Revillagigedo Island (USI AK141S, WW Loc. CO45IP, 1st South Eastern County, Alaska). Activity will take place during the ARRL 160m Contest (November 30th-December 2nd). He will be operating as KL8C, and he also hopes to be active on the other bands as K6VVA/KL7 again as during his September (2007) operation (QSLs are being printed - QSL via N6AWD). Rick mentions that the operating QTH has a great over-salt-water path to the U.S. and much of Europe, although his conditions in September were not good for EU. There is a big hill in the direction of JA, so Rick may try to operate from the other side of the Island with a clear shot to JA for a while during the daytime/non-160m hours (if not this trip, then the next time).
NA-069. Look for Bren, G4DYO, (ex-editor for the DX News Sheet) to be active as W4/G4DYO from Captiva Island for few hours on November 16th. Activity will be on 20 meters.
OH0, ALAND ISLANDS
Operator Przemek, SP7VC, will be active as OH0/SP7VC
during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Single-Op/
All-Band entry. QSL via SP7VC.
P3, CYPRUS
Russian operators Alexey/RA1AIP, Sandy/RW4WR, Tony/RX9TL,
Jack/RW3QC, Igor/UA2FZ and Harry/RA3AUU will be active as P33W during
the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th) as a Multi-Single

PJ4, NETHERLAND ANTILLES
By the time you read this, Kelly, N0VD, should
be active as PJ4/N0VD. Kelly will be on Bonaire (SA-006) from October
18-30th, and will participate as part of the PJ4E team as a Multi/2 effort
during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October 27-28th). QSL to N0VD for

OPDX was asked to find out about the OJ0B QSL status, so we contacted Martti, OH2BH, and here is what he said: "Yes, here we come....OJ0B was activated twice this past summer, August and again in September, with some 27,000 QSOs. Both operations were combined together after the September outing and the number of cards needed was determined. All our cards are printed in Poland, and they will be shipped to us at the end of this coming week. We should be able to get all direct cards out by November 15th.
We have noticed that many envelopes from U.S. stations have been submitted with one U.S. dollar bill. This matter in now under consideration. If we mail them directly we would subsidize each envelope from our own pocket although we know that sending those cards via bureau network would not make anyone happy. In the meantime, we had just last week released 170 pounds (83 kg) of DX QSL cards, mainly to U.S., Canada and Japan (ed. Bureaus) for variety of our operations over the past two years with the hopes that this investment would still be worth while. We see lot of cards returned with the note 'this person is not accepting QSL cards' and/or is 'not member of national society' thus the rational for confirming each QSO through the bureau is in doubt.... V2, ANTIGUA
Team Antigua will once again be active from the warm Caribbean
sunshine as V26B during the 2007 CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest (October
27-28th) competition. The operators will be mostly preparing the station
starting on or about October 22nd, and will probably be active through
October 30th, using their own callsigns as assigned by the Antiguian
Licensing Authority. This year Team Antigua welcomes two new operators
to their family. They are: Tom/NI1N and Kam/N3KS. They currently do not
have any V2 callsigns assigned to them, but when they do their QSL routes
will be via their own home callsigns (w/SASE). Please look for the
following operators (w/QSL routes - please SASEs) to be active outside
of the contest:

A group of Belgian and Finnish operators will be active
from here between October 20th and November 5th. Activity will be on
the following suggested frequencies: 1825, 3507, 7003, 10104, 14007,
21007, 24897 and 28020 kHz. An emphasis will be on the lower bands. The
team is expected to sign XU7MDY during the CQ World Wide DX SSB Contest
(October 27-28th) as a Single-Band (not mentioned) entry. ALL QSLS are
