is to the Island of Annobon (Pagalu). He will arrive via Malabo-Bata-Annobon
on October 20th, and will remain on the island for 15 days and be activate

has been a very difficult and complicated enterprise. Elmo has been talking
to different Ministries of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea since 2004 to
explain to them that ham radio enthusiasts are interested neither in
politics nor religious differences, but to just practice ham radio without
paying attention to the frontiers. He hopes with all his efforts that in
the future he may launch a multinational ham radio DXpeditions there soon.
This DXpedition is costly for only one operator, and he is looking for help
in funding his operation.

ANTARCTIC NEWS
The French Polar Team is proud to announce the "ANTARCTICA CHALLENGE".
The goal of the "Antarctica Challenge" is to promote the Antarctica
Hamradio traffic; it should reflect the global and coherent hamradio
traffic with the Antarctica. Another main goal of the Challenge is to
gather funds to help Antarctica's stations (QSL printing, Materials
supply and so on..). The "Antarctica Challenge" is not an Award, but
a Challenge. As you will see in the rules it's not simply to count
bases and confirm the QSOs, but you must find the exact and accurate
Antarctica station positions (on the island). Your Geographic skill and
documentations will help you achieve this goal. Visit the Antarctica
Challenge Web site at:

following operation is approved for DXCC credit:
YU6AO CREDITS ON HOLD! On October 4th, 2006, Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Branch Manager, reports:
"A number of DXers have had their YU6AO credits rejected by the DXCC Desk. Although we are entering these confirmations, we are currently not allowing DXCC credit because of possible irregularities in the QSLing process. We have received several independent reports relating to the QSO dates, some QSOs made prior to July 4th, 2006, being post-dated to dates July 4th and later. We take this very seriously, and we are seeking clarification, but our latest attempt to communicate with YU6AO has not been acknowledged. Once this matter is cleared, credits already submitted can be claimed with a note to the DXCC Branch Manager, Bill Moore at dxcc@arrl.org."EF8, CANARY ISLANDS

VU7, LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS. NIAR PRESS RELEASE (dated October 6th, 2006)
"We are happy to inform you that the Hon’ble Minister for Communications and IT has approved the NIAR proposal for holding Hamfest a convention of International amateur radio operators in Lakshadweep Islands (VU7). The event will be held during December 1-3rd, 2006. The event also coincides the year of Golden Jubilee celebrations of Union Territory of Lakshadweep. Another major attraction for the event is that Indian and Foreign hams can obtain permission from Government of India to operate their Amateur Radio stations during the HAMFEST being held at Lakshadweep Islands during December 1-10th, 2006.WRTC 2010Several agencies of the Government of India have come together to support Amateur Radio activity in our country, particularly the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Tourism, Lakshadweep Administration, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of HRD and Department of Telecommunications. This was made possible with encouragement we received from DX agencies like GDXF, Germany and DERA, USA etc.
Hamfest is likely to attract a large number of operators. It has been decided to spread amateur radio stations to different islands to ensure most efficient operations with their physical separation of 10-60 km.
The operations will take place at least from: Agatti Island, Bangaram Island and Kadmat Island.
Lots of attention will be put in the organisation of each island operation site: Experienced operators, carefully selected equipments, large antenna farms, and awareness of conditions to all continents on all bands.
In addition NIAR has assigned reliable QSL Managers to ensure quickest and most efficient QSL handling for each of the 3 ITU Regions:
Region 1: German DX Foundation (GDXF)
Region 2: N2OO, Bob Scheck
Region 3: The I-House Radio ClubYour contribution, in any amount, will make you a valued member of our VU7 operation. We need your support! We plan a special acknowledgement for Individual Donators. Further details will follow in due time. More details will be released on the official webpage www.vu7.in as plans and details firm up. Regards... Mohan, VU2MYH"
