3D2, FIJI ISLANDS
Brian, N6IZ, is now active as 3D2IZ on the Island of
Namotu (OC-121) until April 1st. Namotu is a small island in the Mamuca
Island chain in the Fijian waters. Reports from Bonnie, KQ6XA, indicate
Brian is using ALE (Automatic Link Establishment) on 20 meters. Brian
will try "HFL" Netcalls using a portable HF system (IC-706+PCALE+laptop)
manual tuned antenna on the HFLINK channels. ALE monitor freq: 14109.5 kHz
(no auto RX scanning). Also, he is active on 14342.5 kHz and 18157.5 kHz.
When not playing on ALE, look for him on 80-10 meters CW/SSB and the

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA
Operators Peter/DJ8XW and Heinz/DL2QT are currently
operating from 9M6AAC at the Hillview Gardens Resort in East Malaysia.

CQ MAGAZINE DX MARATHON WEB SITE
John, K9EL, reports: "The CQ DX Marathon
is a cross between an award and a contest. It runs for a full year at a
time with competitors trying to contact as many countries and CQ zones
as possible within the year. There are no carryovers from year to year,
however, and everyone starts fresh each New Year's Day. The year-long
DXing competition began on January 1. A new Web site has been established
and dedicated to the DX Marathon -
EI90, IRELAND (Special Event)
Members of the South Dublin Radio Club
(SDR) will activate a special event station over the Easter weekend (April
16-17th) to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
"The Easter Rising was a militarily unsuccessful rebellion staged in
Ireland against British rule on Easter Monday in April 1916. Nevertheless,
despite its military failure, it can be judged as being a significant
stepping-stone in the eventual creation of the Irish Republic", from the

The special event station will run from the SDR club QTH using the callsign
EI90GPO. Activity will be on all HF bands from 80-10 meters. QSL via EI2SDR.
FS, SAINT MARTIN
John, K9EL, will be active as FS/K9EL from April 3-11th.
He informs OPDX that he will be using an IC-735 barefoot and vertical
antennas for 80-10 meters. No PSK or RTTY. QSL to his home callsign.
HA, HUNGARY (6M BAND)
As of March 29th, 2006, HA amateurs can start using
the 50-52 MHz band on a secondary, non-interference basis as a new frequency
allocation plan has appeared in the official journal of the Republic of
Hungary. The same government order also opens the 7100-7200 kHz segment of
the 40m amateur radio band for Hungarian radio amateurs.
On 6m, the frequency allocation for amateur radio is 50-52MHz, with a power limit of 10W ERP. All known modes occupying less than 12 kHz bandwidth are allowed. There are no restrictions on the design or polarity of antennas, but the 10W ERP limit has to be obeyed. As the amateur radio band is now contained in the National Frequency Allocation Plan, no separate licences are required, all stations holding a CEPT-equivalent licence are automatically granted access. No mobile operation on 6m is allowed however. The two television transmitters in Hungary remain operational in the band for the time being.
Early access to the 7100-7200 kHz segment of the 40m amateur radio band is also granted for those holding CEPT-equivalent licences, with 150W or 250W of power depending upon the licence class. As this band is under 30 MHz, a CW proficiency exam is still necessary. Hungary is expecting new amateur radio regulations within a few months that will revise - among other things - the Morse requirement and the national licence/exam classes.

AF-018. (Early announcement!) Operator IT9BLB and a International team
will be active as IH9P from Pantelleria Island during the CQWW
CW Contest (November 25-26th) as a Multi-Multi entry. QSL via

AF-078. Fidier, F6ELE, plans to be active from Carabane Island (6W) sometime between June 9-19th.
AS-113. Photos of TA3J/0's recent activity from Sican Adasi (Rat Island - MIA MTC-099) on March 24th are now available at:
EU-051. Operators Davide/IW9GUR, Angelo/IW9HLM, Riccardo/IT9CVO, Andrea/IT9RKR and Andrea/IW9HQP will be active as IE9/homecall from Ustica Island (IIA PA-001, MIA MI-116, WLOTA LH-0848) from March 31st to April 2nd. They plan to have three stations active on all bands except 30 meters, plus 6 meters.
EU-124. Members of the North Wakefield ARC will be activating Caldey Island, Wales, from Monday, July 24th until Monday, July 31st, inclusive of the IOTA Contest. Operators mentioned are: Charles/MØOXO, Nigel/MØNJW, Chris/M1TRC, Steve/2EØJTI and Barry/2EØJRZ. The callsign to be used outside of the contest will be GB4CI, and during the IOTA Contest the callsign will be GW5X. Contacts will also count for the "Caldey Island Lighthouse" (WAL-004) and for the TWLHF Award (GW-002). QSLs for ALL contacts are via Charles, M3ZYZ, direct (QRZ.com) or by the Bureau. EU-148. Bernard, F5XX, and some other operators will activate the French island of Brescou in the Languedoc-Roussillon Region Group, May 25-29th.
NA-026. (CORRECTION) In last week's OPDX.752, we stated that Staten Island (USI NY-004S, Richmond County, New York) is NA-026. OPDX was informed that Staten Island was removed from IOTA NA-026 on February 1, 2005. It is still good for the USI Award.
NA-031. (Update) John, NY6DX, will be operating as NY6DX/1 from Block Island (USI RI-001S - NOT A NEW ONE as first announced, Washington County, Rhode Island), from April 11-14th. Look for activity on, or near the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL via his home callsign, direct only (QRZ.com).
NA-081. Dana, VE1VOX, will be active as VE1OTA April 14-16th. He will decide which islands to operate from upon his arrival to the area. Activity will be on 15, 20, and possibly 40 meters SSB. QSL to VE1VOX, direct preferred. Reminder, international postage requires an IRC or 2 USDs.
J6, ST. LUCIA (Update)
Oleh, KD7WPJ/UR5BCP, informs OPDX that he is
planning to operate from here (NA-108) from March 30th through April 5th.
Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB. His visitor's radio amateur
licence has been approved and most likely he will use the callsign
J6/KD7WPJ. QSL via KD7WPJ.
JD1, OGASAWARA
A German team consisting of Walt/DJ0FX (JS6QFP), Joe/DL2DX
(JA1PPB), and YL Karin/DL9DYL are expected to be active between April
4-18th. The group is trying to obtain JD1 callsign and currently does not
know their callsigns. Activity will be on all bands on CW, SSB, PSK31 and
RTTY. QSL via their home callsigns.
LZ80, BULGARIA (Special Event)
Members of the Bulgarian Federation of
Radio Amateurs (BFRA) will activate the special event callsign LZ80R
(LIMA ZULU EIGHT ZERO ROMEO) from their HQ through the end of 2006.
Activity is to commemorate 80th anniversary of the first radio amateur
club in Bulgaria. QSL preferably via the LZ QSL Bureau to LZ1BJ.

Antonio, EA5RM (5H2AG - S01R) informs OPDX that he has received the 5H2AG QSLs from the printer. All direct QSLs should be in the mail by the time you read this.
NEW QSL ROUTE. Yarub, HZ1YB, reports that effective immediately his new QSL Manager is DK7YY. DK7YY prefers the Bureau, but direct QSLs are also OK.
QSL KH7X via K2PF. Activity was during this past weekend's CQ WPX Contest. Operators were KH6ND, KH6TO, KH6YY, KH7U, AH6OZ and AH6NF.
QSL TM9R via F5GGL, either direct (SAE + 1 IRC) or via the French REF-Bureau. Operators were from the Gironde division of the French National Postmen ARC, the "AOMPTT", RADIOAMPT33/F6KNB.
QSL VP2E via N5AU. Activity was during this past weekend's CQ WPX Contest. Operators were KC5EA and N5AU.
OK7, CZECH REPUBLIC
Petr, OK1DOT, informs OPDX that he will be using a
new callsign for special occasions such as contests. Look for him to use
OK7DX in upcoming contest.
ON-OT, BELGIUM
Reports indicate that individual Belgian amateurs can
now apply for a secondary 2x1 vanity callsign with all possible ITU
prefixes for Belgium. However, the prefixes OT5x and OR5x are reserved
for club stations. It is quite possible that callsigns like ON1A, OP2Q,
OS7Z, OO0O .... etc may/will show up on the bands. The primary focus for
this change is contesting but also applicable to every day DXing. So
don't be confused or think they are pirates, these callsigns are 100%
legal. They fall under CEPT agreement.

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the
"Battle of Verdun" (1916-2006) look for special event station TM7BV to
be active from different locations throughout the 2006 calendar year.

SPECIAL EVENT
Operators Muriel/F0CXD (YL) and Arno/F4DCG will air the
special callsign TM4BFL between April 9-19th, in memory of Arnaud Smeulders,
F4BFL, who died several months ago at the aged of 29. Activity will be on
160-2 meters. QSL via F4DCG, by the bureau or direct (QRZ.com).
SR 2006 MEETING
The 3rd International Strange Radio Meeting will take
place in the Province of Taranto, April 22-23rd. There will be two days
of forums on DXing, Contesting, DXpeditions and the Antarctica. Complete

TK, CORSICA
Jean Louis will sign TK/F5NHJ from Corsica (EU-014), between
March 29th and April 4th. Activity will be from the Ajaccio area, and he
states this will only be a QRP CW holiday style DXpedition. QSL via F5NHJ.

TY, BENIN
The TY DXpedition continues to be active until March 30th. The
four DXpedition members are now fully operational on 160-10 meters. During
the second week of operations they will try to focus on lower bands when
possible. QSL Manager Dennis, PA7FM, reported that the team unexpectedly
found an internet cafe and has been able to send logs and photos to Dennis
on the following Web pages. Remember to QSL TY4TW via GM4FDM. QSL TY5LEO

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS (Early Announcement!)
Operators Rodger/W7VV,
Ralph/VE7XF, Dick/K7BTW and possibly others will be active as VP5W during
the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 25-26th) as a Multi-2 entry. QSL via

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS (Update)
Frank, DL4KQ, reports that he now has
a total of 10 operators for his team to be active from VU4. Operators
mentioned are: VU3FRK/DL4KQ, VU3RSB, DL5OAB, K3LP, N6TQS, VU3TLY/IK1PMR,
VU3PLM/K2LEO, F4RGD, F5CWU and VU3JLW/AA4NN. They plan to have 3-4 stations
on the air for CW/SSB and 1-2 for the digital modes. Activity will be on

VU4, ANDAMAN ISLANDS
Charles, K4VUD, mentioned this past weekend that
he has a ticket to go to the VU4 Hamfest. He currently holds an Indian
callsign, VU3CHE, and hopes to get a VU4 callsign. Charle states, "I am
taking only 100 watts and a Cushcraft roto-dipole gismo for the 3 WARC
bands. I plan mostly 30m CW if I can get on."
W5DXCC (Ham-Com 2006)
The Lone Star DX Association in conjunction with
Ham-Com 2006 will host this year's W5DXCC. Along with the venue and schedule
change of Ham-Com, this year's W5DXCC will have some changes as well. The
main event will be a dinner affair at the Southfork Hotel near the Plano
Convention Center on Friday evening, June 9th. Tickets are 35.00 USDs each
and can only be purchased online via the Ham-Com Web site. Only 125 tickets
will be available so order NOW! Tickets WILL NOT be available at the event!

WAS IS NOW AVAILABLE ON LOTW!
The ARRL Letter announced this week:
"Users of the ARRL's Logbook of the World (LoTW)YU500, SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO (Special Activity)http://www.arrl.org/lotw/ now may apply their LoTW credits to applications for the League's Worked All States (WAS) award. Once registered and logged in, users may set up a WAS account on the Logbook Awards page, configuring the account to automatically select QSLs to use or selecting them manually via the Your QSOs page. LoTW is a repository of logbook records submitted by users from around the world. When both participants in a contact submit matching QSO records to LoTW, the result is an electronic "QSL" that can be used for award credit. As part of this addition, administration and maintenance of all WAS awards is now perfomed using an LoTW module. US Amateur Radio licensees must be ARRL members to apply for the WAS award. In addition to WAS, LoTW supports the ARRL DX Century Club (DXCC) award. Since its inauguration in September 2005, LoTW has more than 95 million QSO records on file, with nearly 5.15 million QSL records resulting. The system boasts just over 12,000 registered users, and there are more than 18,100 certificates--each representing a particular user call sign--on file."
YX0, AVES ISLAND
Look for members of the Association of Radioamateurs
of Venezuela (ARV) and the Grupo DX Caracas (GDXC) to activate Aves Island
(Isla de Aves), April 19th. The team will depart from La Guaira on April
17th. They will use the callsign YX0A and plan to be active on 160-2 meters
on CW/SSB. Special emphasis will be made on the lower bands. Operators are
Ramon/YV5EED (group's leader and MD), Edgar/YV2IF, Jose/YV5ANT, Victor/
YV5IQJ, Pablito/YV5IVB, Antonio/YV5LMW, Eduardo/YV5MHX, Federico/YV5NCZ,
Gregorio/YV5OHW, Jig/AD6TF, Ray/DL2GG and possibly anothers to be announced
later. Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 1822.5, 3523, 7023, 10103, 14023, 18073, 21023, 24893 and 28023 kHz SSB - 1842.5, 3750, 7093, 14190, 18145, 21295, 24987 and 28475 kHz 2 meters - 146.520 MHz (FM) 6 meters - 50.110 MHz (listening for openings)Visit the YX0A Web (still under construction) at:
ZV0, FERNANDO DE NORONHA (Update)
Operator Orlando, PY2TJ/PT2OP, will be
active as ZV0F between March 30th and April 4th. His activity will be
limited because he will be on holiday. He states, "The Fernando de Noronha
Achipelago is a ecological paradise in where I will be on vacation with
my wife. I intend to operate every night after 2200z, and eventually,
during the day time hours, SSB, on the bands of 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10
meters, depending on the propagation conditions and the possibilites of
installing the antennas." His equipment will be an Icom 706MKII, Kenwood
TS-50 and half-wave dipole antennas. QSL via PT2OP. He will accept QSLs
by the bureau, but prefers direct (with SASE/SAE + 2 IRCs or 2 USDs) at:
