6W, SENEGAL
Al, F5VHJ, will be active as 6W1RY in the CQWW SSB DX Contest
(October 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via F5VHJ.
7X, ALGERIA
Luis, EA5KY, editor of El Mundo del DX in the Radioaficionados,
official bulletin of the URE, informs OPDX that operators Angel/EA1QF,
Pere/EA3CUU, Paco/EA4BT, Emilio/EA7AAW, Julio/EA7JB, Juan Lucas/EA7TL
and Ramom/EB4EPJ will be active from here October 2-9th. Callsign will
probably be 7X0AD, but it's not confirmed yet. QTH will be 7X0AD's house,
and he will be one of the operators as well. QSL is via EA4URE. This
activity is a cooperation between URE and ARA.
9K, KUWAIT
Yaser, 9K2YM, will be active in the upcoming CQ/RJ DX RTTY
Contest (September 25-26th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (20m) entry. QSL

9M6, EAST MALAYSIA (IOTA/Contest Op)
Saty, JE1JKL, informs OPDX that
he will be active as 9M6NA on Labuan Island (OC-133), East Malaysia,
starting November 24th until the end of the CQ WW CW DX Contest (November
27-28th). He will be active before the contest probably on 160m, 80m
and the WARC Bands (CW only). During the contest, he will be a Single-Op/

ANTARCTICA AWARD (MDXC - Press Release)

Mediterraneo DX Club (MDXC) Secretary, informed OPDX that the MDXC
is pleased to introduce the "Antarctica Award" to the DX-oriented
Amateur Radio community. Information and details on how to obtain

ATTENTION LOTW USERS! (Logbook of the World Certificate Renewals)
"To all Logbook of the World certificate holders - All LoTW certificates
currently have a term of one year and must be renewed before expiration.
No additional documentation will be required if the renewal request is
created before the certificate expires. We will send an email reminder
to all certificate holders whose certificates are about to expire. This
email will refer users to detailed renewal instructions on the Logbook
of the World Web site
CU, AZORES
The editor of the "DX News Letter", Karlfried, DL1EK, informs
OPDX that each year he and others try to find another place of interest
for the CQ Word-Wide SSB DX Contest at the end of October. After their
successful Jersey and Sardinia operations, they decided to go to the
Azores Island (CU - IOTA EU-003) to set up their Multi-Operator station
this year. The team consist of Burghard/DF8XC, Peter/DH4JQ, Alfons/DJ8VC,
Hans-Jorgen/DL1YFF, Franz/DL3PS, Stefan/DL7AOS, Lars/DL9LR and Karlfried/
DL1EK. The callsign for the contest is not yet known. One week before and
also one week after the contest they will use their own callsigns (e.g.
CU2/DL1EK). Activity will be on 160-10 meters (sorry, no 30 meters) on

FK, NEW CALEDONIA
It seems that Mike/KM9D and his girlfriend Jan/KF4TUG
will be staying here until September 15th. Mike is active as FK/KM9D and
has been quite active. Over the past weekend he was heard on CW at various
times on 160/40/30/20/17/12 meters. QSL via OM2SA.
FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON ISLANDS
Pete, NN9K, is now active as FP/NN9K
from Miquelon Island (IOTA NA-032, DIFO FP-002, WW Loc. GN17TC) until
September 18th. He has really been keeping DXers busy on 30 meters over
the past weekend. His main goal is to provide FP QSOs as much as possible
on 30 meters. He will be on other bands from time to time but mainly on

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Andy, LY2BVB, will be active as HB0/LY2BVB from
September 20-23rd. Activity will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB. This will
be a holiday style operation. QSL via bureau is OK.
IOTA NEWS
SA-NEW. An international team presently consisting of Marco/CE6TBN,
Mario/CE6NE, Lucas/LU1FAM and Mike/K9AJ, will be active
February 11-14th (2005) from Rennel Island, Ultima Esperanza
Province South Group (CE8). Activity will be on CW and SSB.
Further information will be available soon at:
SA-086. Look for members of the Atacama Desert DX Group and Radio Club La Serena to be active from Gaviotas Island, September 25-26th, to commemorate the 40th IOTA Aniversary. This will be a multi-mode and band operation (CW, SSB, BPSK31, RTTY and SSTV; 80-10 meters and the WARC bands). They will be using the special callsign XR2G. A Web page is currently under construction (URL not provided).
IS0, SARDINIA
Operators Roberto/IS0GRB, Alessandro/IS0MYN, Basso/IS0CLA,
Gianni/IS0XDA, Angelo/IS0ADZ, Alessio/IS0SEL, Antonello/IS0XSE and
Stefano/IS0WBT will be active as IS0A in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October
30-31st) as a Multi-Multi/Low-Power entry. Activity will be on 160-10
meters. All antennas are homemade and their contest site is 1000 meters
above sea level. They do have a Web page and live images will be provided
through a wireless link on 2.4 GHz to the Internet at:
J45, DODECANESE
Operators Laci/HA0HW and Tomi/HA4DX will be active as
J45HW and J45DX, respectively, with an unnamed HA friend from Faliraki,
Rhodes Island (EU-001). The operation will take place September 26th
through October 3rd. Activity will be on 40-10 meters, CW, SSB, RTTY and
PSK31. QSL via operator's home callsign via the HA QSL bureau or direct
by the QRZ.com addresses.
JA UPCOMING DXPEDITIONS (Reminder)
4S - (OPDX.674) Masa, JQ3DUE/4S7DUG, will lead a large group of Japanese
operators (possibly 25) to Sri Lanka to be active between September
18-25th. Activity will be on all bands and modes. QSL via operator's
instructions.
FK - (OPDX.672) Eleven members from the Mitsubishi Electric Tokyo ARC (JM1YGG) will be active September 16-19th, as FK/JM1YGG and FK/homecall from New Caledonia (IOTA OC-032, DIFO FK-001). Activity is planned for 80-10 meters CW, SSB and FM. QSL via JM1YGG, by the bureau or direct to: Mitsubishi Electric Tokyo Amateur Radio Club, 2-1-1 Marunouchi, Tokyo, 100-8310 JAPAN.
KP2/WP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
Operators Barry/W3FV, Tom/K2TW and Tony/N2TK
will be active from contest station WP2Z on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands,
for the CQ WW SSB Contest, October 27th to November 3rd. They will be a
Multi/2 entry in the contest. QSL WP2Z via KU9C. Before and after the
contest, they will use their "own call/KP2". QSL to their home callsigns.
LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITY
Albert, IT9MRM, will be active as I8/IT9MRM from the Capo Spartivento
Lighthouse (ARLHS ITA-043 - WAIL CL-009) this week. Activity will be
on 40/20/15 meters SSB, starting at 1400z, September 14th through
1200z September 15th. QSL via his home callsign, via the bureau or
direct to: Albert Mattei, Via E. Millo, 20 Augusta 96011 (SR) ITALY.
Bill, KI4BBK, will be active from the Chesapeake Light Tower (ARLHS USA-168) in Virginia, September 25th (between 1600-1800z). His primary frequency will be 14270 kHz, but he will also try 18145, 21370 and 28370 kHz as conditions permit. QSL via his home callsign, direct with #10 sized SASE or SAE with sufficient postage.
MIA CONTEST
The Mediterranean Islands Contest, organized by the
Mediterraneo DX Club, will take place from 1200z September 18th to 1200z

during July and August of 2004 was a PIRATE. Last time Per was active

NOT THE QSL MANAGER. Steve, OM3JW, informs OPDX that he is receiving QSLs via the Bureau for YI0M again. He wants to inform the radio amateur community that he is NOT the QSL Manager for YI0M. Operator was Peter YI9OM (OM6TY), during the 2003 CQ SSB WPX Contest, and the QSL Manager is his father OM6TX.

R1MV, MALYJ VYSOTSKIJ
By the time you read this the R1MVI operation
should be QRT. QSL via RA3AMG: Denis Skobelkin, A.k. 698, LV-1010 Riga,
Latvia. It is recommended to use Denis's Latvian address instead of his
Russian address.
S7, SEYCHELLES
Marco, HB9OCR, will be active as S79MH from Praslin
Island, October 26th through November 6th. Activity will be on all HF
bands excluding 80 meters. He will also be in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest
(October 30-31st). QSL via HB9OCR.
S7, SEYCHELLES
All arrangements have been made for Willi/DJ7RJ and
Klaus/DJ4SO to be on the air from Seychelles beginning October 3rd,
for 2 or 3 weeks. They will be operating as S79RJ (DJ7RJ) and S79SO
(DJ4SO) on 40-6 meters and on CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31. Use of the 80 meter
band has not been authorized, but they will be requesting permission
to operate on 80 meters during the weekends (3505 kHz +/-). QSL via
their home callsign.
SILENT KEY
World traveler and DXpeditioner, Frank Turek, DL7FT, became
a "Silent Key" (SK) on August 17th, 2004. Over the years Frank went to
many rare locations and handed out new ones to many people. He is survived
by his wife Siegrid, DL7CN, who will be handling QSL duties. She will
continue to keep the DL7FT Post Office Box open. OPDX and its readers
would like to send out our deepest sympathy to Frank's family and friends.
SV9, CRETE
Gerben, PG5M will be spending his holiday (dates not provided)
on the Island of Crete and will be active as SV9/PG5M. He will be operating
occasionally on 40-10 meters CW only. His equipment is a FT-897 and a G5RV.

SV9, CRETE
Operators Stelios/SV9FBM and Chrisovalantis/SV9FBZ will be
active as SY9Y in the CQ WW DX SSB Contest (October 30-31st) as a Multi-
Single entry. Also, look for Stelios/SV9FBM to be active as SY9Y in the
CQ/RJ WW DX Contest (September) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry.

T42, CUBA
Operators Angel/EA1QF and Carlos/EB1AA will be here from
October 12-25th. They will be working on a "Radiosolidarity" project,
and will be busy working on several HF station installations. In their
spare time, they will be active as T42R. QSL via EA4URE.
TA3, TURKEY
Dennis, DL7RBI, will go to Ephesus near Izmir, Turkey, for
his holiday from September 18th to October 1st. He will be active as
either TA3/DL7RBI or as TA3Z*, depending on the possibility of getting
a Turkish Guest License. Dennis will be active mostly in the local evening
hours on 40-10 meters, with 100 watts and mostly on CW (SSB on request).
Listen for him on one of the following frequencies (+/- QRM):
CW - 7016, 10116, 14016, 18086, 21016, 24916 and 28016 kHz
SSB - 7090, 14250, 18150, 21250, 24950 and 28250 kHz

TT8, CHAD (Update)
Ghis, ON5NT, in Dubai (A61), informed OPDX that Robert,
S53R, was not able to pick up his license last weekend because the PTT
office in N'Djamena was closed. When he went to the PTT on Monday (lucky
he had sent a fax before he left Dubai), the papers were ready but still
had to be signed. In the meantime, he went on a mission for 3 days to
the northeast of the country (with a small plane, max. lugguage 10kg,
so he could not take his gear anyway). During his absence, someone from
the office picked up his license. He finally came on the air on Thursday
last week as TT8KR. He will in N'Djamena until about Tuesday, September
14th. He said he will try 160m, but the roof of the hotel is very low.
Another report states Robert will be listening on 1828 kHz sporadically
(or possibly 1831 kHz if frequency is not good) on the mornings and
evenings of September 13th and 14th.
V6, MICRONESIA
Lanny, W5BOS, plans to be active as V6O from Pulap (Pollap)
Island (IOTA OC-155), West Chuuk, Fed. States of Micronesia, October
18-23rd. No other details were provided. QSL via N6AWD.
VP5, TURKS AND CAICAOS ISLANDS
Look for Dave, AH6HY, to be active as
VP5/AH6HY from Salt Cay in the Turks Islands group (IOTA NA-003) from
September 23rd to October 2nd. Activity will be on 40-10 meters, SSB
only. QSL via his home callsign, direct or via the bureau.
XU, CAMBODIA
Wim, ON6TZ, will be active as XU7TZG now through September
28th. Suggested frequencies are: 7075, 14220 and 21320 kHz (+/- QRM).
However, he was heard this past weekend on 17 meters SSB between 1030
and 1300z. QSL via ON4AJV.
Z38, MACEDONIA
Zoli, HA1CA, has received his license and will be signing
as Z38C. He will operate from Macedonia on the HF bands for the next two
years. Later on he will put up some antennas for 2m and 70cm too. (His
QRA is KN01..) QSL via HA1RS.
ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND
Ian, G8WVW, has been active as ZD8I and will be
here until the end of March 2006. No QSNs have been reported since August
20th, but his activity will be SSB on 80-6 meters (no 30m). Suggested
frequencies are: 3737, 7077, 14237, 18137, 21337, 24937 and 28537 kHz.

ZK3, TOKELAU ISLANDS
Operator Chris, ZK3DX, has been quite active on
20/17/15/12/10 meters SSB usually after 2330z (for stateside) and 0530z
(for EU). Length of activity is not known. QSL via EB2AYV.
