5J0, SAN ANDRES ISLAND
Members of the Florida DXPedition Group have entered the CQWW SSB Contests from many DX locations starting in 1996 as WP2AHW. In 1997, they were C6AJT, 1998 as WP2Z, 1999 as J6J, 2000 as FG5BG, 2001 as J75J, and 2002 HI9X. In addition to the CQWW Contests, their members have operated from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Antigua, Montserrat, Haiti, Crete, Wake Island, Spratly Island, Chatham Island, East Malaysia and New Zealand. This year eight members will be operating from San Andres Island (IOTA NA-033) during the period of October 20-28th. They plan to run 4-5 stations before and after the contest. They have also requested the contest callsign 5J0X. In the past they have never asked for any assistance. This year they are asking for donations to help offset the cost. 8P, BARBADOS
Richard, G3RWL, is expected to be active from here until April 20th (No callsign was provided). Activity will be on 40-10 meters, plus 80 and 6 meters if he can arrange the antennas. QSL via his home callsign, direct or to the bureau.

9N, NEPAL
Dov, 4Z4DX, is expected to be active as 9N7DX from April 22nd to May 13th. He will be looking for Israeli stations everyday on 14195 kHz starting around 1500z. His activity will be on all bands and modes, but mostly on PSK31/RTTY/CW.

A4, OMAN (Pirate Activity)
Axel, DL6KVA, has been in contact with Alex, A45WD (YO9HP), and has confirmed that a station using Alex's callsign operating on 30 meters (March 29th, 2000-2100z on 10107.6 kHz) was a PIRATE. Alex states he is NOT licensed to operate on 30 meters (yet). All QSLs for this band activity will be returned. He is trying very hard to get approval to operate on 30 meters, but it is going very slow.

CY9, ST. PAUL ISLAND (Update)
OPDX was informed that the 5-6 operators (who will be named later) going to CY9-land July 24th-August 2nd, should be active on 160-2 meters SSB/CW/RTTY. The group is trying to get a CY9 callsign which will be put out after their arrival.

I know this has nothing to do with DX, but your editor's second love (other than DXing) is MUSIC. I have been searching for a music CD (not LP) called the "Young and Rich" by the group "The Tubes". The CD is now out of print. Please look at your local record/CD store to see if they have a copy. IOTA NEWS
AF-045. Members of the Association des Radioamateur Senegalais (ARAS) 6W Radio Club will be active as 6V1A from Goree Island, June 7-9th. Activity will be on HF bands mainly on SSB with some CW. QSL via ARAS QSL bureau to Jean Louis, 6W6JX.

AS-079. Taka, JR3TVH, informs OPDX that he will be active as homecall/6 from Hirara City (near or around), on the Island of Miyako (Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa-ken) between April 11th (0700z) until around April 13th (0100z). He will be on the HF band from 40-6 meters on CW, SSB and RTTY. His specific aim on this visit is to provide QSOs on 6 meters overseas (especially to African and European stations). AS-117. Opertaors JA1KJW, JJ1JGI, JK1EBA and JN1IKT will be active as homecall/0 from Sado Island, April 10-13th. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB. QSL via the bureau or direct to their home callsign.

EU-038. Peter, DL4FCH, will be active as PA/DL4FCH from Texel Island, April 11-17th. Activity will be only CW on 10/15/20/40/80 meters. QSL via his home callsign. An online log will be available on his home page at: http://www.niksch.de/dl4fch

EU-045. Members of the Mediterrano DX Club (MDXC); Antonio/IZ8CCW, Antonio/IK8VRH and Gianni/IZ8CGS will be active as IB0DX from Ventotene Island, April 25-27th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via home callsign, direct or via the bureau. Their Web page is at:

EU-170. Ron/9A5JR (OE3REB) and Emir/9A6AA will activate the Island of Dugi Otok (CI-018, CRO-183, not WLH) from April 7th (afternoon) to April 9th (before noon). They will operate from the lighthouse of Veli Rat. Look for for them on SSB on 15, 20 and 40 meters.

EU-171. Ela/DL3YMK and Torsten/DH3YMG will be active as OZ/homecall from Vendsyssel-Thy/Nordjylland Island (aka Jutland Island). This island also counts as DIA NJ-001 for the Danish Islands Award. Activity will take place between now and April 17th. Operations will be on 40/20/15 meters. QSL via their home callsign, direct or by the bureau.

SA-056. Members of the HCDX group will be active from April 8-11th from Muisne Island in the Esmeraldas Province Group. Their callsign is currently not known yet. Activity will be on 10, 15, 20 and 40 meters. QSL via EA7FTR: Francisco Lianez Suero, Asturias 23, 21110 - HUELVA - SPAIN.

IR4, ITALY
Igor, IZ4COT, informs OPDX that the IR4A contest team, which consists of operators IK4MSV, IK4SWX, IK4IDS, IK4HLU, IZ4COT, IZ4DIW and IZ4AGI, will be active during the ARI International Contest May 3-4th. J5, GUINEA-BISSAU
Miguel, EA5IK, hopes to be active during his spare time from here, April 12-15th. No callsign or bands/modes of activity were provided. QSL via EA5BY.

J7, DOMINICA
Jon/AA1K and Jeanie/AB1P are now active through April 12th as J79K and J79P, respectively. This is a vacation and casual DXpedition. They will have a pair of IC-706's and wire antennas. Jon hopes to be active a little on all of the bands 160-6 meters, but he will focus mainly on CW, especially on the WARC bands. Jeanie will do some phone operating. The second radio will be monitoring 50.110 MHz or CQing on 50.102 MHz CW. Activity began late on April 5th and is expected to end early on April 12th. The only QSNs to report as of print time are Jon was heard on 10107 kHz around 2255z and on 18073/18080 after 1900z. QSL via their home callsign.

OH, ALAND ISLAND
Ben, SM6CCO, will be active as OH0CO from April 10-16TH. Activity will be mainly on the WARC bands and CW. QSL via SM6CCO, bureau or direct.

OY, FAROE ISLAND

QSL INFO AND NEWS
Activity by 4G6A was by Frank/VE7DP and Rey/4F1FZ on Semirara Island (OC-125). Operation to end April 7th. QSL via VE7DP (QRZ.com).

Phil Whitchurch, G3SWH, is pleased to announce that the 8Q7ZZ QSL cards have been delivered from the printers on April 1st. He states, "Needless to say, I am very embarrassed about the delay in sending out the cards. I have not been responsible for the design or printing of them, as the expedition operators wanted to do this themselves. I will get on with the job as fast as I can now they are to hand, but please do NOT send second applications, as they will not be answered. As you will imagine, there is quite a large backlog of requests to answer, which will take many weeks (if not months) to work through, so please have patience."

According to "The Weekly DX", the AH3D cards will not be back from the printers until May. The QSL is expected to be a great aerial photo of Johnston Atoll. QSL AH3D to: 2003 Johnston Atoll DXpedition, P.O. Box 73, 02380 Espoo, Finland.

Gerben, PA5NT, reports that all direct cards for ST2X have been answered and are in the mail right now. Those who worked ST2X on all 7 bands that were activated will receive a special award.

ST0RY QSL INFO. Chris, DL5NAM, DXpedition Team Leader/QSL Manager, has requested that only one QSL card with all QSO info listed on the card be sent to expedite processing. Chris said that he really did not care if you did not send a card, and a piece of paper would do as long as all info for all your QSOs were on one peice of paper. A system will shortly be in place on the ST0RY Web page to request a bureau card via E-mail. For direct QSL returns for US stations, please enclose 2.00 USD (the German cost of return airmail postage) and a pre-addressed return envelope. For European stations, please enclose one Euro Dollar and a pre-addressed envelope. Direct cards go to Chris, DL5NAM, at: Chris Sauvageot, Guttenburg 19, D-91322 Graefenberg, Germany. Chris also said that individual donations would be greatly appreciated to help defray the great cost of putting #18 of the 100 Most Wanted List on the air for a lot of DXers.

Rustam "Rusty", UU2JQ, informs OPDX that his QSL Manager Andy, KZ1L, passed away in 2001. QSLs for UU2JQ should now be sent to the Ukraine via direct or bureau.

Nik, HB9EAA, informs OPDX that he has been receiving a lot of direct cards for his ZK1EAA DXpedition without sufficinet postage. Nik states to please remember the cost of an airmail-letter for outside of EUROPE is more than 1 USD (approx. 1.35 USD). So all cards without enough postage will answer via the QSL bureau. Also, Nik can't use stamps from USA or JAPAN. These cards will also be answered via the QSL bureau. Detailed information about his activity can be seen on the Web page:

S0, WESTERN SAHARA (Update)
The S05X Team keeps preparing the next "BIGGEST DXPedition" ever seen in the Sahara Desert. They will have 11 operators from 6 different countries. The S05X Team will be active from April 16-21st, and be on air from Tifariti, Western Sahara, operating 24 hours, on all bands, all modes. The list of equipment includes: Kenwood TS2000, a few Icom 706s, Icom 756PRO and a BRAND NEW ICOM 7400 (Icom 746PRO) to test in this really hard environment. They have this special Icom IC7400 thanks to one of their supporters, the major Icom reseller in Italy: Giorgio Mossino's "D.A.E. Telecomunicazioni" who is always ready to support RADIO ACTIVITIES. Other kind supporters have supplied the team with 4 brand news laptops to use during their DXpedition. "Hewlett Packard of Italy" will let them use their fast new XE4000 for their logging and digitals transmission. From the first day of operation, S05X will be on CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK, and is expected to provide you with a 59(9) signal from an exceptional locator for the very first time. The S05X Team will be on 6 meters from a very new LOCATOR: IL46RD They are going to use a 6 meters 3 element yagi (Cushcraft A30S) during the operation. They will try to be on air as much as propagation allows because they know this is the very first time this locator is activated. QSL Manager is URE, the Spanish National Asociation and Bureau, and the cards will go VIA EA4URE. SPECIAL EVENT
The Maritime Radio Historical Society is pleased to announce that K6KPH will be on the air on April 26th, to participate in the annual International Marconi Day commemorative event. International Marconi Day takes place each year on a weekend close to the birthday of the great radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi. The event is organized by the Cornish Amateur Radio Club which offers awards to stations in various classes. See their Web site for details at:

TX4, MARQUESAS ISLAND (Update to OPDX.597 and OPDX.602)

V2, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
A group of amateurs from the recently formed Antigua and Barbuda Radio Club (callsign V21ARC) will be going on DXpedition to the sister island of Barbuda over the Easter weekend (April 18-21st). Their callsign for this operation will be V21BBQ (BBQ is the Airport designator for Barbuda Airport!). They plan to operate on 160-10 meters plus localized 2 meter contacts. The plan is to have three stations on HF and one on 2 meters. To their knowledge, there has never been any ham activity from Barbuda. With their activity and presence on the island, they hope to expose the residents to ham radio and secondly, to familiarize the ham community with Barbuda. QSL to: Antigua & Barbuda Radio Club, P.O. VK9X, CHRISTMAS ISLAND (Update)
Steve, VK3OT (ex-VE3SIX), reported before he left Victoria on April 4th, that he has changed his operating schedule for his VK9XI operation between April 7-21st. His priority is now the 6 meters band and HF CW when 6 meters is closed. The following operating times are subject to change due to propagation and solar activity.

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLAND
By the time you read this, Rodger/GM3JOB and Willie/GM4ZNC should be active once again as VP5/homecalls from North Caicos (NA-002) between now anf April 19th. No QSNs have been reported yet as of print time, but they plan to be active on most bands CW/SSB. QSL via their home callsigns, either direct or through the bureau.

XY, MYANMAR
Franks, DL4KQ, is now active as XY4KQ until April 15th. He was heard this past weekend on 20 and 15 meters. Watch 14150 kHz between 1800 and 2045z. Also, watch 21307 kHz after 1630z.
