3D2, FIJI
Remember to look for Brian, N6IZ, to be active as 3D2IZ from Namotu Island (OC-121) through April 6th. His activity will be mainly on CW on 80-10 meters. He was heard over the weekend on 14023 kHz between 0430-0730z and 7005 kHz between 1000-1345z.

4Z8, ISRAEL
Guenter, OE1GZA, informs OPDX that he will be active once again from here on April 4th and most probably also on April 5th. He will activate the rare 4Z8-prefix using the callsign 4Z8GZ. The operation will take place in Tel Aviv. Activity will be on 20-10 meters. QSL to OE1GZA. Guenter's Web page is at:

7P, LESOTHO
Frosty, K5LBU, reports that they have lost one of the operators for their July trip to Lesotho. Operators now aboard are: Frosty/K5LBU (7P8CF), Tom/WW5L (7P8TA) and Madison/W5MJ (7P8MJ). Reportedly, all the equipment is already in Lesotho, and the operators will not have to carry any heavy radio equipment. 8Q, MALDIVES
Look for Riccardo/IZ5EBL and Rossella/IZ5BRO to be active from April 13-21st as 8Q7RL and 8Q7RC. Activity will be on 40-10 meters SSB with some CW and PSK31. QSL via their home callsigns.

CT3, MADEIRA ISLAND
Ben, DJ8FW, will be active as CT3AS, from April 9-21st. Activity will be on CW/RTTY/PSK31 on 80-15 meters as time permits. QSL via DJ8FW.

CY9, ST. PAUL ISLAND
A group of 5-6 operators will be going here between July 24th and August 2nd. Their activity will include an entry in the July IOTA Contest. St. Paul Island's IOTA number is NA-094.

DU, PHILIPPINES (IOTA Ops)
Frank, VE7DP, informs OPDX that he will be making a short visit to the Philippines during April. Some of his partners/ operators from his 2001 activations (which includes 4I1P, 4H2B and DU1/VE7DP) will be joining him again. This trip's destinations of interest are Semirara Islands (OC-125), also Calagua Islands (OC-202) or Cagayan Islands (OC-207). Most of their activity will take place April 6-18th. More info/details are forthcoming.

IOTA NEWS
AF-064. (Update). Operators Phil/G3SWH, David/G3UNA, Vidi/ZS1EL, Kosie/ZS1SR, Malcolm/ZS1MC and Andrew/ZS1AN, will be active at the end of the week from Robben Island (as well as the lighthouse SAF023) using the special callsign ZS1RBN. Activity will take place between April 4-7th, and propagation permitting, they will have two stations on the air on a 24 hours a day basis. One station will operate SSB and one will operate CW on all bands 80-10 meters. Suggested operating frequencies will be:
SSB - 3755, 7055, 14260, 18128, 21260, 24950 and 28460 kHz
CW - 3530, 7026, 10115, 14040, 18098, 21040, 24920 and 28040 kHz.
Nevertheless, small deviations might be needed, e.g. if the announced frequency is busy, not busy enough or filled with QRM. QSLs will be handled by G3SWH, either direct to his CBA: 21 Dickensons Grove, Congresbury, Bristol, BS49 5HQ, U.K. (with SAE and return postage) or via the RSGB bureau.

AS-043. Operators Suehiro/JI1PLF, Mitsuo/JA1UNS, Hisashi/7N1GMK and 7L4PVR will be active as homecall/1 from Hachijo Island from June 6-9th. Look for activity on 80-10 meters SSB, CW and PSK31. QSL direct to their home callsign or via the JARL QSL bureau.

AS-049. (Update) Toshi, JM1PXG, will be active as JM1PXG/6 from Tokara Kuchino-shima starting around 0100z on May 3rd. The length of his stay has been increased to one day due to the schedule change of the ferry. He will now stay until around 0000z on May 5th. Toshi's activity will be on 10/12/15/17/20/40 meters CW only. QSL via JARL or direct to his home call.

NA-082. Randy, W5UE, wants to remind everyone that several members of the Magnolia DX Association will be active from Cat Island, Mississippi (USI MS002S), from April 4-6th. Cat Island is a barrier island located about 6 miles south of Gulfport, MS, in the Mississippi Sound. They will be active on 80-10 meters (including the WARC bands) on CW and SSB. They will be using the special event callsign K5C from multiple stations. Team organizers are Bill/K5YG, Glenn/K2FF, Darryl/KD5CQT, and Randy/W5UE. QSL via K2FF. IP1, ITALIAN ISLAND
Giuseppe "Beppe", IK5CBE, informs OPDX that he, Alberto/IK5FTV and possibly others will activate Palmaria Island using the special callsign IP1A from April 4-7th. Palmaria Island does not have an IOTA number, but is valid "only" for the Italian Islands Award with the reference number IIA SP-001. Activity will be on 160-6 meters. KH6, HAWAII

QSL INFO AND NEWS
Ted Melinosky, K1BV, Awards Editor CQ Magazine and K1BV DX Awards Directory, informs OPDX that 4L5A and EY8MM has asked him to handle cards for these operations. Ted is "OK" in all the online lookups. He has the Feb/Mar 2003 logs for D44TT and is awaiting the logs for D4B. He doesn't have cards yet, but hopes to get them shortly. Bureau cards are accepted as well.

AP2AUM QSLS. Boris, T93Y, informs OPDX that he has received information that Willy, 9A4NA/T98N, was expected to be active during the CQ WPX SSB Contest using the callsign of Asad, AP2AUM. Also, please note that QSL information for AP2AUM QSOs made in the year 2003 will be via 9A4NA: Zeljko Curkovic, Vukovarska 125, HR-21000 Split, Croatia.

TEAM HAITI 2003 WRAP-UP. Jan Heise, K4QD, reports: "The HH4 team from the Florida DXpedition Group (FDXPG) has returned safely home. It was a hot, dry and dusty two weeks at the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. The supply ship had still not arrived when we left, so we ate a lot of beans and rice. It also somewhat impacted our low band and six meter operations because of antennas and coax that were on the ship. The team made over 18,000 contacts on 160 through 10 meters on SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK-31 and 10M FM. The logs have been uploaded, and log checking can be accessed from the Team Haiti web site at:

Activity by L71F during last weekend's contest was from the "Bad Power Station" (LT1F). Operators were: LU1AEE, LU1FGE, LU1FKR, LU1FMO, LU2DKT, LU2FT, LU2NI, LU3FP, LU4DX, LU5DX, LU5HM, LU6ETB, LU6FQD, LU7DW and LU9HS. QSL via AC7DX.

There has been a QSL route update for P41P during the CQ WPX SSB Contest last weekend. Please QSL via I2MQP.

If you heard R9/N5XZ during the CQ WPX Contest this past weekend it was Allan/N5XZ with RA9JP and RW9QW/9 at the mike. QSL via his home callsign.

Paco, EA4AHK, the QSL Manager for Francisco Cortadellas, TT8FC, reports he has been receiving a lot of QSLs for CW contacts. Paco states that TT8FC does not work CW, does not work the American Band and does not work 40m band.

"In a state of panic!", says Martin, VK5GN. The 2003 CQ WPX SSB Contest was Martin's last operation as VK5GN. His XYL (VK5QP) has been offered a new job as University Librarian at the University of Tasmania (VK7), so they are moving interstate. Martin states, "Down come all the towers (8) and pack all the beams etc and off we go. Don't have any idea when I will have a new contest station up and running. Both Bureau and direct QSLs will continue to work for at least 12 months."

WRTC2002 QSL CARDS, T-SHIRTS AND PLAQUES. The WRTC2002 Organizing Committee announced that all OJ1 thru OJ8 QSL cards are printed and ready for release. S0, WESTERN SAHARA
A bulletin from the "S05X Team" announced this past week the biggest INTERNATIONAL team ever seen in the desert will be on air from Western Sahara next April 15th. Operators Hrane/YT1AD, Miki/YU1AU, Max/I8NHJ, Doug/N6TQS, Jordan/KD7RCD, Marq/CT1BWW, Juanca/EA2RC, Fernand/ EA1BT, Toni/EA5RM, Julio/EA5XX and Mahafud/S01MZ (all 11 are first class operators) will be doing their best and represent six different countries: Yugoslavia, USA, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Western Sahara. They will be working from the very heart of the desert as S05X. All of them are very well known DXers and DXpeditioners, and their plans include a 24 hours, all band, all mode, operation from S0-land. Using 1KW output power, they are going to transmit especially on the low bands, CW and SSB, as well as PSK31, RTTY and 6 meters. They will take a special interest/care to listen for USA's West Coast openings. Their antenna farm will include a few yagis, so they expect to have worldwide coverage. Their pilot stations will be the two main editors of the 425 DX News:

ST, SUDAN

T30, WESTERN KIRIBATI
Tusti, W4WET, is now active as T30ONM from Tarawa. His orginal plans were to head to Nauru (C21) and then go to Tarawa. Nauru said he could get a visa upon arrival, but the airline bumped him because he had no visa. It looks like Tusti will be here through the rest of the week and maybe longer as Nauru does not look possible. Anyway, Tusti has been very active on 20 meters RTTY (some 10/15 meters). TU, COTE D'IVOIRE
David, F5THR, should be active as TU5CD now through July 1st. As this was being written, no QSNs were reported as of yet. QSL via F8BON.

V6, MICRONESIA (New IOTA Activated)
You have a couple of more days to work Joe/I2YDX and Robert/IK2WXZ from Nukuoro Island (OC-259) as V60A and V60Z, respectively. They plan to leave this new IOTA on April 1st (they have been there since March 28th). After their operation on Nukuoro Island and they head back to Pohnpei, another source reports that the two operators will make a several hour stop on Oroluk Island (OC-NEW). They are expected to activate this new IOTA possibly between 0000-0600z (maybe as late as 0800). After this activity, they will then go to Mokwil Island (OC-226) and be active from April 6-7th as V63DT and V63ZR. Most of their activity has been on 40/20/15 meters, mainly SSB very little CW.

XY, MYANMAR (Update to OPDX.603)
Frank, DL4KQ, will use the callsign XY4KQ during his operation from April 1-15th. For updated information, please watch the Web page at:

YB0, INDONESIA
Stan Matejicek, OK1JR, informs OPDX that he has just received his Indonesian Radio Amateur Licence, and his callsign is YB0AJR. He will stay in Indonesia another few months at the Czech Embassy. Stan plans to be active on 160-6 meters from not only from Jakarta (YB0), but also from other Indonesian Islands. QSL via OK1JN (his dad). You can find more details on the Web page at:

ZC4, UK SOV. BASE AREA ON CYPRUS
Bill, G4EHT, will be visiting his son Dez, ZC4DW, between April 14-28th. Bill will be on a family holiday but hopes to schedule in some time on HF CW. He will be operating from the Eastern Sovereign Base using their club callsign ZC4ESB. Please be patient with Bill as he hasn't worked pile-ups for many years.
