3905 CENTURY CLUB NETS
Kevin Burkhart, WM0F, PR Director for the "3905 Century Club", wants to inform OPDX readers that the 3905 Century Club has been around running "Worked All States and DX" type contact nets for 25+ years. Nets are held daily on 40m, 80m, and 160m SSB, along with a bunch of weekly CW, PSK, and RTTY nets. The complete net schedule and other info can be found at the club Website at:

The 3905 Century Club has operated bureaus for contacts made on the CC nets for many years. The turnaround in CC bureaus is a matter of weeks, so there will not be the long delays typical of international QSL bureaus. DX stations interested in earning the ARRL WAS or other Century Club awards will find this service really useful for getting timely service for their QSL cards.

3B8, MAURITIUS
A German team plans to head south to get away from the cool weather and be active as 3B8/DK7AO from February 9-15th. The team consists of: Frank/DK7AO and his XYL Katrin/DL1AXL, Guenter/DL2AWG and Peter/DL3APO (and his XYL). Activity will be on 160-10 meter, but they will focus on the low bands, the WARC bands and some RTTY. They will have 2 HF stations. QSL via DL3APO. 3C5, EQUATORIAL GUINEA
Alan, G3XAQ, is now active as 3C5XA from Malabo until January 21st. Activity will be on 160-10 meters (mainly CW). Over the past weekend, he was heard on 40m (after 2100z), 30m (around 2045z), 12m (after 0830z) and 10m (after 1400z), all CW. QSL via G3XAQ.

D8, SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS
Lee, DS4CNB, currently signing as D88S from the South Korean Base "King Se-Jong" on King George Island (AN-010), continues to be active until November 30th. Most of his activity has been on CW on 40/30/20/17/15/12/10 meters. However, over the past weekend he was heard on 17 meters SSB on 18155 kHz between 1000-1200z. QSL via DS4CNB.

DXCC NEWS
From the ARRL Web Page: "DXCC processing resumes after faulty server replaced (January 7, 2003) -- After a two-week hiatus, DXCC application processing resumed January 3rd. DXCC processing ground to a halt December 23rd after a computer server that supported the DXCC software failed. ARRL Membership Services Manager Wayne Mills, N7NG, said he's glad to report that the DXCC system once again seems stable, and DXCC applications from late September are being entered into the system this week. The Information Services Department (ISD) determined that the old DXCC server had reached the end of its useful life. After replacing a power supply and attempting to resuscitate the aging hardware, ISD shifted the application to another available server. Mills said system downtime actually was less than two weeks. 'With Christmas, New Year's Day and associated vacations, we probably didn't lose a full two weeks, but on the calendar, we lost two weeks,' he allowed. The even better news is that the current DXCC system is slated for an upgrade that will interface with both Logbook of the World--now undergoing beta testing--and the ARRL Web site. Mills says this will allow field checkers to take further advantage of electronic data input and speed processing time by as much as 75 percent."

HH4, HAITI
Jan Heise, K4QD, the HH4 March 2003 DXpedition Team Leader, informs OPDX that members of the Florida DXpedition Group (FDXPG) will be part of a thirty member humanitarian mission team traveling to Haiti. They will operate from the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission (NWHCM) March 10-21st. Team members are Jan-HH4/K4QD, William-HH4/N2WB, Bill-HH4/W4WX and Al-HH4/K3VN. The team will have three stations, and when not working on mission projects, they will operate on all bands 160-6 meters and all modes including PSK-31. HC4, ECUADOR (Update)
Andy, NP3D, reports that he will be active as HC1/NP3D from Quito for 1-2 days (January 21-23rd) and be active as HC4/NP3D near Manta on the Ocean (January 24-27th). He will try to be active from an island named "Isla de la Plata" (IOTA SA-033).

HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
John, F5VHQ (ex-OE5TGL), will be active as F5VHQ/HI9 from January 16-24th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters SSB. QSL via his home callsign, direct or bureau.

HR, HONDURAS
Gerard, HR5/F2JD, continues to be active from here and has made more than 5200 QSOs at the moment. He hopes to put an antenna for 160 meters. Remember, he is here until early March. Over the past week he has been active on 80/40/30 meters CW, usually after 2200z. His QSL Manager Jean Michel, F6AJA, reports that he has received the first part of Gerard's log, and you can look to see if you are on the log by sending an E-mail to:

HS0, THAILAND
Charles, K4VUD, who just concluded some activity as HS0ZCW again, expects to return again during the summer of 2003. He reports that during his recent December activity the bands were rather poor in HS-land. He only worked five or six stateside stations and only heard very few. Also, 40 meters CW was spotty but useful sometimes. He adds that he only worked 90-some-odd stations in the 10 meter contest!!! He worked all he heard.

IOTA NEWS
AS-006. Terry, VE7TLL, is expected to be active as VR2/VE7TLL from Lantau Island, Hong Kong, between January 30th and February 10th. However, this is not a DXpedition, but he will try to be as active as possible on the usual IOTA frequencies. QSL via his home callsign.

EU-032. Look for Fabrice/F5NBQ, Bertrand/F6HKA and Jean-Louis/F5UJK to be active as F5NBQ/p from Oleron Island (DIFM AT-025) from January 25-27th. They also plan to participate in the CQWW 160m CW Contest. QSL via F5NBQ.

EU-039. Franck/F5JOT, Daniel/F5LGQ, Claude/F6CKH will be active from Chausey Island from April 19-26th. Their activity will be on 80-10 meters on CW, SSB and maybe RTTY and SSTV.

NA-057. By the time you read this, Wayne, K9YNF, should be active as K9YNF/HR9 from Roatan Island until January 18th. Activity will be SSB only on 14260, 18128, 24950, 28460 and 28560 kHz (+/- QRM). QSL via his home callsign, direct or bureau.

SA-061. Update! Fernando, XQ5SM, reports that he will not be able to join the team going to Mocha Island, January 15-18th.

OC-203. Remember to look for Steve, G4EDG, to activate the rare IOTA Stewart Island as ZL4/G4EDG late on January 17th for approx. 4 full days. Refer to OPDX.591 for more details. Steve will be active mostly on 20 meters CW. QSL via his home callsign, direct or via the bureau.

OC-233. Look for Shane, VK7KHZ, to be active as VK7KHZ/P from Bruny Island, January 19-22nd. He will have antennas for 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 meters only and expects to be on the air by 0800z on January 19th. He will be on or close to IOTA frequencies. QSL via EA7FTR.

IOTA/LIGHTHOUSE DXPEDITION
Members of the IOCA Group lead by Fredy, DE0MST (member of WLH Management Committee) will activate Vela Palagruza and Otocic Palagruza Lighthouse (EU-090, CI-084, LH-0057) as 9A0CI between May 2-10th. The group may also try to operate from Mala Palagruza (EU-090, CI-461) and Galijula Island (EU-090, CI-462). Operators mentioned are: 9A2WJ, 9A6AA, 9A7N, DE0MST, DF9MV, DJ3XG, DL1SDN, DL5MFL and DL9CHR. Their activity will be on CW/SSB and near the IOTA and lighthouse frequencies on 80-10 meters. QSL to a DE0MST (only for 9A0CI, May 2-10th, 2003) via the DARC Bureau or direct to: Fredy Stippschild, P.O. Box 1406, D-83657 Lenggries, Germany.

J7, DOMINICA
Bob/AA1M and Mike/W1USN will be active from the island of Dominica from January 21-28th. Operations will be on the HF bands with activity on CW, SSB and PSK31. Assigned callsigns are J75PL (AA1M) and J75RN (W1USN). QSL via the bureau, WF5E or direct CBA.

JW, SVALBARD
Three members of the Voluntary Radio Organization (SL0ZS), Stockholm branch, are planning a DXpedition to here between February 23rd and March 1st. The team consists of Pete/SM0BSO, Stellan/SM0LQB and Eric/ SM1TDE. All will sign JW/homecall from the club station JW5E located in Longyearbyen. Activity will take place on all bands from 160-6 meters on CW, SSB, RTTY as well as several other digital modes. QSL via their home callsigns, bureau or direct.

KH9, WAKE ISLANDS
Reports indicate that Chuck Brady, N4BQW, is expected to be active as N4BQW/KH9 from January 15-25th. Bands/modes of activity were not provided. QSL via KB6NAN direct.

LU/LT, ARGENTINA
Luc, LU1FAM, informs OPDX that he will be active in the ARRL International CW Contest as a Single-Op/Single Band (10 or 40 meters)/ High Power. Also, look for the club station LU5DX to be active as LT1F in the same contest (on 40 or 10m). QSL LU1FAM via AC7DX and for LT1F via LU1FKR.

LU, ARGENTINA (Mountain Expedition)
This is just a reminder to look for Robert, 3A2MY, who will sign LU/3A2MY between January 16-23rd from the Aconcagua, the highest peak of the South American Andes mountains, 6959 meters ASL. He will be there with the Alibert expedition members. Robert will use a homemade QRP transceiver with 5 watts out, supplied by solar cells. Suggested frequencies and mode are: 14280 to 14290 kHz, SSB. A special QSL card will be issued when he returns to Monaco. QSL via his home callsign.

OH0, ALAND ISLAND
Ari, OH5DX (ex-OH1EH), will be active as OH0Z in the CQ 160-Meter CW Contest (January 24-26th) as a Single-Op/High Power entry. QSL via OH5DX: Ari Korhonen, Kreetalank. 9A1, FIN29200 Harjavalta, Finland.

PIRATE ALERTS
Activity on 40 and 20 meters by a station signing E44Q this past week seems to be a pirate. If you work it, hold off from sending QSLs until we known for sure.

Also, CO2QQ informs OPDX that a pirate station has been using the callsign CE/CO2WW on the ham bands. There have been many QSL requests sent to the CO QSL Bureau for this station.

Scott, K7ZO, QSL Manager for NK7U, informs OPDX that he has been receiving QSLs through the Bureau for TA0/NK7U. They are for QSOs on August 9, 2002, on 15 meters CW. There was NO such operation, so the activity must have been the work of a PIRATE/SLIM.

PJ2, CURACAO
George/W8UVZ, George/K8GG and Gary/KD9SV, will be going here January 20-29th, and plan to be in the CQ WW 160 CW Contest (January 25-26th). They have applied for the contest callsign PJ2X. Outside of the contest they will use PJ2/homecall. There will be plenty of Low Band and WARC Band activity. QSL PJ2X via W8UVZ. QSL other contacts via the operator's home address.

PJ4, BONAIRE
Operators Noah/K2NG, Tom/K2TW and Peter/NO2R plan to be active as PJ4Gin the ARRL International DX CW Contest (February 15-16th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via WA2NHA. Also, look for activity before and after the contest on all bands.

PJ5, ST. EUSTATIUS ISLAND
Lee, VP2VE, plans to be active as PJ5/K3RGD from the Dutch Antilles IOTA NA-145 now through February 10th. Activity will be on all bands, CW+. As this bulletin was being written, Lee was very active on 30 meters beginning as early as 0330z and later at 2100z. QSL will be via WA2NHA. QSL INFO AND NEWS
CORRECTION. OPDX has been informed by the NJDXA group that the activity by Bob, W2SF, from IOTA NA-062 (listed in OPDX.593) should only be QSLed direct and not by the Bureau. Bob has not had any bureau credits for over 2 years. Incoming cards to the NJDXA QSL Bureau are trashed.

Lee R. Wical, KH6BZF, reports: "With the untimely death of Rick Sonones, KH7RS, ex-KH6JEB (Mr. Kure Island), last month (December 2002), Mr. John Peters, K1ER/KH6, has volunteered to undertake Rick's QSL duties/ managership." Juha, OH9MM, team leader of the C53M/C56R operation, reports that the C53M/C56R logs are now available at: http://dx.qsl.net The QSLs have been ordered and are expected to be out at the end of February.

Martti/OH2BH and Pertti/OH2PM were active this past weekend as OH0B and OH0R, respectively. QSL OH0B via OH2BH and OH0R via OH2PM.

MORE POSTAGE NEED! Leif, SM5BFJ, informs OPDX: "Those who still need a QSL for 9U5D and 9Q0AR - I am sad to inform you that the Swedish Post Office has raised the postage to a level that 1 USD is not enough to cover my return postage. Consequently please send 2 USD or 1 IRC."

Nick, VK1AA, has contacted OPDX, and he wants to clarify his QSL practice which was mentioned in OPDX.593. Nick states, "QSL cards received with insufficient postage or multiple requests for different callsigns will be forwarded in the manner most suitable for both sender and manager. Please note: I'm talking here about requests with INSUFFICIENT POSTAGE enclosed. Unfortunately one USD or 1 IRC is not enough to cover my QSL expenses. For all other requests it's business as usually."

ST, SUDAN
Gerben, PA5NT, informs OPDX that he will be back in Khartoum, Sudan, again between January 20-28th and will be active as ST2X. Activity will be CW on all bands 40-10 meters (including WARC) and depending on the circumstances, also 80 and 6 meters. There could also be some occasional SSB operation. TM0, FRANCE
Look for Patrick, F6OIE, to use the special callsign TM0A from January 18th to February 1st. Activity will be on all HF bands CW during the French Contest. QSL via F6OIE.

V2, ANTIGUA
Wicky/W4LW and Fred/K4FMD will operate as V2/K4UP from Antigua on their annual DX Vacation from February 2-8th. Their activity will be a casual style operation on 10, 12, 15, 17, and 20 meters SSB only. QSL via K4UP direct or bureau.

V4, ST. KITTS
Look for Stan/AC8W, Hank/K8DD and possibly one or two operators to be active from here February 12-19th. Activity will include the ARRL DX CW Contest. Personal callsigns have been applied for in addition to a contest callsign; however, they are not yet known. Before and after the contest, they will be on the WARC bands, and also PSK31 and RTTY. QSL will be via home callsigns. An update will be sent out when they know what the callsigns are going to be.

VP6/D, DUCIE ISLAND
Stu, WA2MOE, reported this past week: "In early March the operators for the second Ducie operation will leave Gambier Island in French Polynesia via boat for Pitcairn and then Ducie. The organizer, JA1BK, indicates that several more operators will be welcome, particularly one who is CW competent. Some phone and RTTY experience will be helpful. If the answer to some or all of these questions is Yes, you may have the Klez Virus on your computer. You may have had it since October, 2002.

The Klez virus sends email from your computer to people in your email programs address book. It makes it look like the email is coming from someone other than yourself by using yet another address in your email programs address book. I have received over 20 emails with the Klez virus attached from someone that is hosted on axelero.hu It is likely that everyone else in the above list has received these emails as well. Please look at this info and if you suspect that you have a computer virus, have someone help you get rid of it. Info about the Klez virus, how it works and how to get rid of it can be found at the Norton Symantec website:
