C6, BAHAMAS
John, WZ8D, will be leaving for Abaco Island (NA-080) on
June 21st and will be there until July 2nd. He will be signing C6AIE.
His main bands of operation will be 6 and 2 meters (Grid Square FL16iq).
During slow times, he will be on 40-10 meters. His equipment is a Kenwood
2000, 4 element beam on 6 meters, 7 element beam on 2 meters and 3 element
on 10 meters. He will also have a vertical and dipoles for the other
bands. Power will be 250 watts on all bands. QSL to WZ8D: John Walker,
1930 Meredith Dr., Loveland, Ohio 45140-7216 USA. U.S. stations include
a SASE. All others SAE and at lease 1 IRC or USD. Please, NO cards

DX-CENTRAL WEBSITE (Change)
Kelly, KE9KD, wants the readers to know that
the DX-Central Website has been redesigned. There seems to be some
"paranoia" about the use of cookies so the new redesign allows visitors
to use the site even if they have cookies disabled. There have also been
some changes in the user interface and features of the site. Kelly states,
"Hopefully these changes will make it a little easier to use. As always,
if anyone has comments or suggestions, feel free to let me know." The

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON
Pete/NN9K, Peg/KB9LIE and Paul/K9OT will be
active from Miquelon (NA-032) starting Thursday, July 26th until August
1st. Activity will include the IOTA Contest July 28-29th. Their activity
before the contest will be mainly WARC bands and PSK31. They will be using
FP/homecall outside of the contest and FP/K9WM during the contest. They
also plan to operate 80-10 meters with a possibility of 6m CW/SSB plus
PSK31. QSL via home callsigns The contest FP/K9WM callsign goes to NN9K.
HA, HUNGARY
Robert, PA3GEO, will be active from July 14-31st as HA5ORP.
He plans to be active on CW/SSB on HF and also on VH. QSL via PA3GEO.

IOTA NEWS
AS-NEW. (Update) Remember to look for Kefken Island to be activated
June 23-25th. The callsign to be used will be YM0KI. Activity
will be on 2-3 bands (one SSB, one CW, and one sporadically
on SSTV depending on propagation).
AS-049. Takeshi, JI3DST, will activate Tokara Archipelago (Kuchinoshima, Toshima-mura, Kagoshima-gun, Kagashima-ken) from 0800z, June 28th through 0100z, July 5th. He will sign JI3DST/6 on 40/17/15/ 12/10/6/2 meters on SSB. QSL via JI3DST.
AS-103. Operators Doji/JH3JWW and Takeshi/JI3DST will activate the Taiwan island Penghu (aka Pescadores), 0900z July 20th through 0200z July 22nd. They will sign BV9A/JH3JWW and BV9A/JI3DST. Activity will be on 40/20/17/15/12/10/6/2 meters on SSB. QSL via home callsigns.
AS-148. Members/Operators of club station HL0C, will be active as HL0C/4 from Wi Island between August 2-8th. Wi Island belongs to the Chollabukto Province Group (Korea). EU-008. A team from the Cockenzie and Port Seton Amateur Radio Club (C&PS ARC) will once again operate from the Isle of Tiree (reference number IOSA NH04 and WAB NM04), which is the most westernly of Scotland's Inner Hebridean Islands. Activity will be during the RSGB IOTA (Islands on the Air) Contest, which runs from 1200z July 28th through 1200z July 29th. The team, which consist of Cambell/MM0DXC, John/GM7OLQ, John/MM0CCC, Colin/GM0CLN, Bob/GM4UYZ, Ron/GM0NTL, Landles/GM4XZZ, Tony/GM3PGY (the island's only resident radio amateur), Iain/MM1CPP, Robert/ MM0ANT, Brian/M5BAP, Ron/GM4IKU and Bob GM0BWU, will be using the special contest callsign GM2T. The QSL Manager for all GM2T operations is Bob, GM4UYZ. Updates will be posted on the club's web page at:
EU-012. (Advance Notice) For the CQ WW SSB Contest at the end of October 2001, Chris/GM3WOJ and Keith/GM4YXI will again be active as GZ7V from the Shetland Islands, a separate multiplier for CQ WW scoring. They will also be active on the WARC bands for 3 days before the contest, mostly on CW. The Shetland Islands also have a IOSA reference number SH1.
EU-016. (Lighthouse Activity) Emir, 9A6AA, IOCA Manager, informs OPDX that Luka/9A7Z and Neno/9A2FL will activate the Islands of Vrhovnjaci (Reference Numbers - Glavat Lighthouse LH-0170 and IOCA CI-144) for the first time ever and only for one day, June 22nd. Activity will be on 40/20/15 meters SSB.
EU-028. John, I2ZGA, will be signing IA5/I2ZGA from Elba Island from July 1-14th. He will be active on CW only from 80-10 meters.
EU-121. Jeremy, EJ3HB, will be operating from Sherkin Island on July 28-29th. Activity will be on all bands. QSL via WA2YMX.
EU-124. A team of "Barry Amateur Radio Society (B.A.R.S.)." operators will be going out to Flatholm Island, August 24-29th. Their activity will be on CW, SSB, PSK31, RTTY and SSTV using 160 through 70cm plus 6 meters. OPDX was told that since the Isle of Anglesey is deleted, the Welsh coastal Flatholm Island will be very much needed. The team intends to be active on at least 1 band and mode for the whole expedition. Their callsign will be GB5FI. QSL via GW0ANA CBA or Bureau.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Glyn, GW0ANA, informs OPDX that it was on this island on the May 10,1897, that Marconi made the first ever "Wireless TX and RX" across water. Then on the May 18, 1897, he made DX working England from Wales, thus the first DX in the world and the first ever IOTA expedition.
EU-175. Alvaro, CU3EE, is active during his free time from Terceira Island and can be found sometimes around the IOTA frequencies. QSL via EA7FTR.
OC-021. Erizal, YC1GTS, is active during his free from Bogor, normally working 6 meters. QSL via EA7FTR.
NEW HEARD ISLAND VIDEO
James Brooks, 9V1YC, has informed OPDX that he
has updated his web site with full details of the new Heard Island/VK0IR
video release:
OH9, FINLAND
OH9A will be active in this year's IARU using the same kind
of equipment as the WRTC2002 competitors will use next year (100w, wires,
tribander). Operators are Ari/OH1EH and Pasi/OH1MM. The log will be
available from the WRTC2002 web site.
OZ & SM, DENMARK AND SWEDEN
Shigeru "Eddy", JR4QZH, will be staying with
his family in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Gothenburg, Sweden, this coming July.
He has already received his licenses. Look for him to sign OZ/JR4QZH/p
from a very popular IOTA EU-029 between July 12-16th, and SM6/JR4QZH
between July 16-19th in the Gothenburg area. No details of band/mode
activity were provided.
QSL INFO AND NEWS
QSL REQUEST. OPDX has been asked to find out what the QSL status is on
the following Andorra special HF event stations active during March 2000.
These stations were asking everyone to contact as many special event
stations as possible, and on as many bands. These stations were using
the callsigns like c34ji, c36hk, c35pr... etc. They asked that the cards
go to the Andorra club station, Box 1150 Andorra. Has anyone received
their cards or have info on these station's QSLs?
QSL REQUEST ANSWERED
Regarding the VO7A, VO1W and VO1X QSL requests
from last week, these were simply missed copied callsigns during the
CQ WPX CW Contest. Dan, VO1MX/VO2ZZ, informed OPDX that the "Industry
Canada" hasn't issued any of these callsigns and apparently has no
intention of doing so! Many reports indicate that these callsign were
4O7A, 4O1W, and 4O1X. It is possible that maybe somebody heard/received
the letter "V" instead of number "4". However, Matt, S53AU, provided
the following QSL information for these stations, which should be:
4O7A via YU7AV, 4O1W via YZ1AU and 4O1X via YU1DX. Also, heard in the
same contest were the following stations signing the "4O" prefix:
4O1B (QSL via YT1BB), 4O1J (QSL via YU1JW), 4O7L (QSL via YU7JX)
and 4O7M (QSL via YU7GMN).
3Y0C QSL STATUS. QRZ-DX is reporting that Mac, WA4FFW, does not expect to start sending out the 3Y0C cards until September/October at the earliest.
FR/F6KDF/T QSL STATUS. Gil, F5NOD, reports that a batch of 1500 QSLs
have been mailed June 14th. All QSLs received before April 2001 are

H40RW QSLS. Ron, ZL1AMO, informs OPDX that the first posting of H40RW cards will begin Monday, June 18th. He expects to catch up on the backlog over the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Mike, W0YR, was in Europe on business (as usual), but was going to
try to squeeze in an /OH0 operation from Mariehamn, Aland Island, this
past weekend, June 16-17th. He was expected to work 20/40 meters CW only
and PSK31. If you were lucky to work him, QSL to W0YR CBA w/SASE or
IRC.
V5/DM5TI and ZS/DM5TI QSLs. Hartmut, DM5TI, informs OPDX that all QSLs
(direct and via Bureau ) for his March 2001 operations have been sent

SPECIAL EVENT
A special event station signing EN1WJP will be active
June 22-27th, to celebrate Pope John Paul's II visits to the Ukraine and
Lviv city. Activity will be on all bands and all modes. QSL via UR4WG,
either direct (P.O.Box 7072, LVIV, 79018, Ukraine) or via the bureau. A
commemorative award will be given for all those who make 5 QSOs with
Lviv's amateurs (usually the letter W follows after the prefix). A QSO
with EN1WJP is essential. Duplicate QSOs are permitted on different
bands or modes, so the special event station can be worked 5 times.
The fee for the award is 3 IRCs or 2 USD. GCR lists must be sent to UR4WG.
SPECIAL EVENT
The Montreal Amateur Radio Club has been given permission
by the Radio Amateurs of Quebec to use the station callsign VC2A at the
Dorval (Quebec) Canada Day event on July 1, 2001. The station will operate
between 1800z July 1st through 0200z, July 2nd. The station will be in
the Canada Day Contest. QSL via VE2ARC through the bureau or direct (only
for this July 1st operation) via: Montreal Amateur Radio Club,
c/o VC2A Canada Day Station, C.P. 53047, C.S.P. Dorval, Dorval, Quebec,
Canada H9S 5W4. They expect to get the QSL cards from RAQI sometime

SV5, DODECANESE
Look for Mike, SV5/NA9Q/p, and Arlyce, SV5/NB9Q/p, to
be active from Afondou Beach between June 20th and July 3rd. They will
be active on SSB/CW/PSK31 on 40-10 meters with a portable antenna. QSL
via homecalls.
SV9, CRETE
Ron, WB2GAI, will be on the island of Crete (EU-015) from
June 29th through August 12th and will sign SV9/WB2GAI/p. Look for him
on the IOTA and QRP designated CW frequencies. He will be using wire
antennas for 160-10 meters, Yaesu FT100D and FT817. Activity will be
CW only.
T5, SOMALIA
Baldur/DJ6SI and Tom/DL1QW, are currently active as T5X and
T5W, possibly until June 21st. Most of Baldur's operations/activity will
be on CW, however, Tom operates CW, SSB and RTTY. So far their activity
seems to be on the following frequencies (+/- 5 kHz):
RTTY - 14082, 21080, 28080
CW - 3508, 7005, 10102, 14025, 18085, 21025, 24890, 28025
SSB - 14195, 18140, 21295, 24945, 28495
QSL T5X via DJ6SI and T5W via DL1QW.
T5, SOMALIA
Bruce, WD4NGB, announced this week that he has received
his license last week for T5. He is planning a trip to Somalia and will
be active in the September/October time frame. He was issued the callsign
T5DX which is valid from July 1, 2001, through July 1, 2002. It was issued
by the new Transitional Government that was put into office last Fall.
VP2 & V2, MONTSERRAT AND ANTIGUA
Bill, W4WX, member of the Florida
DXPedition Group (FDXPG), will be operating from Montserrat June 19-22nd
as VP2MHX and V2/W4WX from Antigua June 23-26th. He will be active on
RTTY and some SSB, including the WARC bands. QSL via home call.
ZD8, ASCESNION ISLAND
Frank, DL8YHR, will be active as ZD8EME from August
9-13th. He is expected to be on 2 meters EME and 6 meters.
