3B6RF OPERATION MAY BE QRT, BUT HELP IS NEEDED!
The 3B6RF team managed to log 64,207 QSOs in 8.5 days, but all of these QSOs came with a big price tag. The 3B6RF's operation time was expected to be 15 days but had to be cut back due to transportation problems. These problems caused an unexpected expense. Preliminary estimates have put their travel expenses at approximately $48,000 over cost just to get to Agalega and back. OPDX was told the team still does not know how this is going to be covered and is still up in the air. The 3B6RF team is counting on the generousity of the ham community with QSL donations and possibly some added donations from DX associations. Please remember to possibly add something a little extra in your SASE for your 3B6RF. Steve, N3SL, is handling the N.A. QSLs, all other areas QSL via HB9AGH.

MOUNTAIN DXPEDITION (Update)
In July, a group of Tajik Hams/Tourists are planning to climb a nameless peak on the Central Pamir mountainous system and name it "Radio Amateur's Peak". At the present, paperwork is in progress, but the actual name can be allocated only after the expedition, and this will involve many other factors. Altitude of this mountain is about 5800 meters above sea level. The ham operators involved are Vladimir/EY8HB, Faruh/EY8AV and Nodir/EY8MM. Faruh/EY8AV will stay in the base camp and coordinate the trip for EY8HB and EY8MM who will attack the mountain's peak. A special callsign was requested and they hope to sign EY1ARP. It will be used only from the top of the mountain. All other times the operators will sign homecall/4. The equipment to be used is an IC-706MK2G and QMAC-HF90 TXCVRS. For 20 meters, they will have a wire vertical made from a light weight fishing rod. For 40 meters, they will use an Inverted Vee. This expedition will be limited to battery power for which they will carry 7AH batteries to the peak. They will save the power for the mountain top operations and for emergencies. For a few more details, pictures of the moutain, and possible updates, check the following Web page:
