Jon Utley, K7CO, now also known as 1SL1J, informs OPDX

British, and, of course, Sealanders. However, he states, each amateur has
to choose whether or not to participate in this operation. Jon has been
issued a license from the goverment of Sealand, and he intends to operate
using this license. He reports that he has "personally seen that the British
courts have ruled that Sealand is out of its jurisdiction, therefore
Sealand's claims to independence have validity." OPDX InterNet Subscribers
will receive Jon's press release as an additional bulletin.

QSL INFO AND NEWS
John, N1OLO, GNARC Special Event Co-ordinator, informs OPDX that "Hams
waiting for the K1V Special Event certificates and QSL are asked to
please be patient. The certificate design is finished and awaits ap-
proval of an outside committee. We had to wait until after the the event
to design the certificate as we wanted to include photos taken on site.
We anticipate a mailing to take place by 11-25-2000. Thanks again for
your patience."
CORRECTION: Garry, NI6T, reports that in his earlier release, he mentioned that the Kingman Reef DXpedition logged almost 82,000 QSOs. He states that he should have said "almost 81,000." The total is around 80,800.
Jean Michel, F6AJA, reports that he has received the first part of the FM/F2JD logs. He will prepare a QSL and will try to print them as soon as possible. Please be patient.
HC8N Bureau Cards. Anyone who has sent cards via the bureau for any of N5KO's operations from HC8N and is still waiting, help is on the way. Trey's manager for HC8N, AA5BT, had fallen behind with answering bureau cards due to the high volume, and Randy, W5UE, has agreed to help get them out. Any cards sent via the bureau will be returned via the bureau system. Randy has begun processing the almost 8,000 card backlog, and they will begin going out soon. It will take a while to get caught up, since the W5 Incoming Bureau is receiving 400-500 new cards per month for HC8N. Cards sent direct to AA5BT with SASE will be returned direct as normal. "So, as with any bureau QSL request, patience is required.... 73 es DX", Randy/W5UE
NOT THE QSL MANAGER. Jari, OH1EB, reports that he was NOT the QSL Manager for the XZ1A operation in 1995. The manager is (and has been) Kan, JA1BK. He states that he has received many cards especially this year for this operation.
NOT THE QSL MANAGER. It was brought to your editor's (KB8NW) attention that I was listed on the Buckmaster Web page as 5R8O's QSL Manager. This is NOT correct, and I hope I corrected it on the Web page. I have not received any QSL cards yet, but I hope I caught the mistake early enough to correct it. The correct QSL Manager for 5R8O is 5R8FL.
S2, BANGLADESH
Two stations were active this past week. S21YH was heard
on 15 meters CW/SSB. Check 21005 kHz around 0200z and 21241 kHz around
1230z. QSL via 7M4PTE. Also look for Stig, S21YJ, on 20 meters SSB around
14178 kHz after 0215z. QSL via SM4AIO.
SILENT KEY
News from "The Daily DX" reports that Mario, 5X1C, became a
Silent Key "SK" this week. Mario and his Betty joined UNWFP in Kampala as
radio operators four years ago. Mario joined the UNWFP team as telecom-
munications technician in the fast intervention team earlier this year.
He was one of the first licensed 5X hams who was active mostly on phone,
the satellites and digital modes. He was also the chairman for the "Uganda
Radio Amateur Society" for a year. He was also a very good friend of
Mats/SM7PKK/5X1Z, Joe/G3MRC/5X1P and Peter/ON6TT/5X1T. OPDX (along with
its readers) would like to send out to his family and friends our deepest
sympathy.
TS7, TUNISIA (Rare IOTA and New Prefix operation)
The Kerkennah Island
DXpedition (please refer to OPDX.453) is now active as TS7N through November
28th. This group is the first to obtain operating permission for the prefix
TS7 and to be active on 6 meters and the WARC bands. The team has been
very active on all bands CW/SSB. QSL via DL6BCF. Check out their Web
page at:
V8, BRUNEI
Paul, N4PN, is now active as V8PNA. He has been very active on
CW on all bands including the WARC bands. Most activity begins after 0000z.
QSL via N4PN.
ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS
Look for Jim, K4BI, to continue to be active as ZF2MU
until November 23rd. Most of his activity so far has been on 10 meters
CW. QSL via homecall.
ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
Roger, W7VV, will be active for two weeks and be
an entry in the CQWW CW Contest as ZK1VVV. Activity will last until December
3rd with operations on the WARC bands outside the contest.

Here are several more multiplier opportunities in the upcoming CQ WW CW contest.
73,
Tim Totten, n4gn@n4gn.com
http://www.n4gn.com
When you hear EA8BH during the CQ WW CW contest, you will have a firsthand taste of the new Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V radio's sound. It is reputed to be the cleanest radio on the market, both transmit and receive. The team has made a deal with Yaesu Musen Co. Ltd. to support Yaesu engineering staff in their efforts to further enhance the company's top of the line HF radios for serious operators. You are welcome to be part of this process.
Jeff Steinman, N5TJ, a renowned world record holder from 1999, will be operating this Canary Island site in the all-band category, featuring a complete dual-radio system, allowing Jeff to maintain independent activities on two bands simultaneously. The station will be using an array of Cushcraft X7 and X9 beams, covering four main directions.
Pekka, OH1RY/EA8AH will provide on-site technical support for this year's effort while Ville, OH2MM/EA8EA is providing valuable strategical legwork and Martti, OH2BH/EA8BH is overseeing the project.
In a recent interview, Jeff commented: "I am delighted to race again at EA8BH, and look forward to working with OH1RY and the entire team to have the station adjusted for top performance."
Pertti Simovaara, OH2PM will be piloting OH0R, now using a carbon copy of the EA8BH station. Here the station features two complete sets of monoband beams as well as a low-band vertical installed in the seawater.
Commenting on his position, Pertti said: "This station cannot be run over by better equipment or strategy--someone has to come and challenge OH0R on pure driving performance!"
An interesting inter-island multi-operator single-transmitter rivalry is in the offing between these two British isles. K2WR, OH1RX, OH2BC, OH2BH, OH2TA, OH3RB, OH8SR, OH9MM and others will be dividing their efforts between these two DXCC countries and valuable multipliers--within sight of each other. They will be using their own strategy, competing against each other and providing added multiplier value to the overall event.
Martti, OH2BH said: "We expect to be just about the only stations active from our respective countries, so we will be delighted to offer a valuable dual-multiplier in this race. We are also grateful to Barry, N0KV and his team (GJ1Y) who did much of the legwork for us during their CQ WW SSB effort."
The "Jersey & Guernsey Odyssey 2000" is hosted by the Jersey Amateur Radio Society, GJ3DVC (http://www.qsl.net/gj3dvc/) and GJ4TXB with GJ0NYG and the Guernsey Amateur Radio Society, GU3HFN (http://www.gars.org.gg) and GU0SUP with his team.
QSL GJ2A via MJ0BJU and MU2K (CQ WW 2000 ONLY) via OH3LQK.
The contest community is encouraged to call in and monitor these activities as they add several new and innovative elements to this year's CQ WW race.

I read your bulletin regarding Sealand. Here is my response to Nigel from his article on eham.net
Hello Nigel (The DX editor for eham.net) and fellow hams:
This is JT Utley, K7CO, -- now also known as 1SL1J. Not sure where you got the information that some Dutch amateurs were going to operate from Sealand. Our team will be made up of Americans, British, and, of course, Sealanders. I have not seen any evidence from the Sealand government that a Dutch amateur used 2m FM but I have strong evidence that 4 Germans used S1 callsigns on HF around 1982.
I have been issued a license from the goverment of Sealand and I intend to operate using this license. We have been getting a lot of correspondence regarding our operation and we welcome all of it, whether it be negative or positive. Personally, I see that British courts have ruled that Sealand is out of its jurisdiction, therefore Sealand's claims to independence have validity.
Each amateur has to choose whether or not to participate in this operation. The Radiocommunications Agency of the UK states "If an UK radio amateur were to reply to an operator using a '1SL' callsign, they would be in breach of clause 1(4) of BR68." Then I say to every UK ham do not contact us, but for each country where you are free to contact licensed amateurs from other countries/territories/etc please do work us.
73 es cu in the pileups.

KH6ND/KH5 is QRT
Mike Gibson, KH6ND has left Palmyra Atoll and returned to Honolulu.
The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) acitivities on Palmyra have ceased for the winter. Given the imminent change in ownership, we do not know what operating opportunities will be available in the future. However, Mike and the Kingman Reef/Palmyra DX Group (KRPDXG) hope to be involved in future amateur activity from Palmyra
During his volunteer stay on Palmyra, Mike, beyond his work commitments, tirelessly handed out more than 25,000 QSO's on 10 bands and 3 modes. (The final total may be closer to 27,000). Mike's efforts, and those of N4BQW, WB4JTT, NH6UY and KH7U were part of KRPDXG's overall efforts to assist TNC on Palmyra Atoll.
The Palmyra effort was in turn an integral part of the Kingman Reef project. The Kingman Reef DXpedition concluded its operational phase on October 31, with almost 82,000 QSO's in the log.
Your donation to offset the considerable expense of these operations will be appreciated. Please send donations and QSL's to K4TSJ---not to individual operators.
Thanks to all for your participation and support.

The menu will be a Catfish Buffet
For those that can NOT eat FRIED, please, when you let me know if you are
coming, also advise that you want your fish broiled (grilled)
I will have a price later. I am WAY BEHIND in getting this notice out to all
the folks.Mo

have to give a "count" to the owner.
