60 METERS NEWS (QSOs Not Valid). Francisco "Siso" Hennessey, HK3W, ARRL
DXCC Card Checker, reports the following [edited]: Operation on the 60
meter band is not allowed in Colombia (5J, 5K, HJ, HK), as well as San
Andrés Island (5J0, 5K0, HJ0, HK0). There's no permit to use that band
by any Ham Radio station transmitting from Colombia or San Andrés. The
Colombian Authorities have never issued the permit to use that band.
There are few DX Bulletins announcing 60 meter band operations from San
Andrés, and it is forbidden by Colombian Law. Please take note that if
someone transmits on that band, it will be illegal and not valid.

7P8, LESOTHO (Update/QRT). Gene, K5GS, sent out the following press release
on February 22nd, for Pista, HA5AO, who was active as 7P8EUDXF from Lesotho
for humanitarian purposes during the month of February [edited]: Pista,
HA5AO, is operating from the Molangoane Lodge, near Ha Ntsi. The lodge is
located on a plateau with no high mountains nearby. The take off to the N
and NW it is clear. The NE to JA is slightly blocked by a mountain, but it
is far enough away to not cause too much of a problem. He is using a K3
with KPA 500. The antenna is a wire vertical on a 10 meter fiberglass pole
with a remote controlled SGC 250 auto tuner. There are 12 x 10.5 meter
radials with a copper ground rod. It can be tuned from 80 to 10 m, sorry
no TB capability this trip due to high noise levels. The noise is s6 s9
on the low bands making the copy impossible and s3 s5 on the higher bands
where copy is difficult. RFI is not a problem, at least no complaints from
the lodge management. He received a Busted call request claiming QSOs on
20th February between 15:10 and 16:27. He was not operating at that time,
probably a pirate. He is operating in his free time from the orphanage
project. The last operating time will be this Saturday morning when he
will disassemble the station. He departs for Budapest on Sunday morning.
The log is at: http://ha5ao.com Logsearch & OQRS

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE :
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

my 1999 QSO with EZ7ST via his manager UA9LM. It's a story unto itself
and obtaining the card has taken months. It could not have been done
without the help of many friends in Russia. Special thanks to Yevgeny
(UA0CA) in Khabarovsk, Vlad (RA9JP) in Tyumen and, of course, UA9LM who
still had the logs AND cards! Anyway, I just thought I'd share the info!
Thanks for all your work on the Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin."

gone, I didn't get to work from the island this trip. I am hoping to
bring the proper equipment for some 'field day' style operating in April
2017.... The club station (VQ9X) has dismantled a few years ago, so the
few of us left to operate there have to bring portable set ups ashore
which makes for challenging operating conditions, especially with the
bands such as they are." He informs OPDX that he will operate this time
on 20/17 meters, SSB and various low power Digital modes using a Icom
IC-7100 transceiver with wire vertical antenna. There may be some oper-
