during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/

4U6, ITALY
Robert, S53R, will be active as 4U6F during the CQWW WPX CW
Contest as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. His QTH will be from Rome, Italy,
at the 4U0WFP amateur radio station at the United Nations World Food
Program Headquarters. The callsign 4U6F is the station's contest callsign.
QSL both callsigns via S57DX direct or LoTW.
5X, UGANDA
Jonathan, KK7PW will be active as 5X1O from Uganda until July
8th. Activity is on 40/20/15/10 meters mostly between 0300-0430z using
FT-817 with 5 watts into either a longwire or vertical dipole. QSL via

8P, BARBADOS
Tom, W2SC, will be active as 8P5A during the CQWW WPX CW
Contest (May 28-29th) as Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via
LoTW or direct to NN1N.
C6, BAHAMAS
Victor, WA0USA, will be active as C6AKV from Guana Cay
Island, Abaco Islands (NA-001) until May 29th. Activity will be holiday
style with an IC-7000 and wire verticals supported by a 40' Spiderbeam
pole overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Google "Elephant Beach House Guana
Cay Bahamas" for details on the QTH. Operations will be on 40-10 meters
using mostly CW and with one day in the CQWW WPX CW Contest. QSL via his

CN2, MOROCCO
A Russian/Italian team is expected to be active again as
CN2AA during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th) as a Multi-Single
entry. Operators mentioned are Dimitri/RA3CO, Yuri/RL3FT, Sergey/RX3APM,
Babayan/UA3ASZ, Stefano/IK2QEI, Oleg/RM9I, Roman/RN5M and UA4Z. QSL via

CO/T40, CUBA
Several members of Group CW de Cuba (GCWC) will be active
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th). Their activity will be
focused on 40 meters: Ed/CO7EH as low power and Jav/CO3JK as a QRP entry.
Also, look for Raúl/CO8ZZ to be active as a Single-Op/Low-Power/All-Band
entry and operating the contest using the callsign T40A.

CY9C, ST. PAUL ISLAND DXPEDITION (Press Release)
Randy, N0TG, sent out
the following CY9C August 19-29th DXpedition update on May 22nd [edited]:
Lee, WW2DX, who recently joined the DXpedition team will be responsible for setting up the equipment, as well as, the primary operator for Satellite operations.
St. Paul Island is located in grid square FN97 in the Cabot Strait between Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and Cape Ray, Newfoundland. It counts as a country for the AMSAT OSCAR Satellite Communications Achievement Award, AMSAT OSCAR Sexagesimal Award, and AMSAT OSCAR Century Award. Most of Europe and North America should be easily workable from this location. St. Paul Island has not been activated on satellite since July 1998. D41, CAPE VERDE
Girts, YL2KL, will be active using the special callsign
D41CV from Sao Vicente Island (AF-086) during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May
28-29th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. The D41CV special callsign is to
commemorate the 41st anniversary of Cape Verde independence. QSL via D4C.

DAYTON HAMVENTION QUICK WRAP-UP (by Editor Tedd KB8NW)
This is one event
I look forward to every year, especially the NODXA Hospitality Suite. This
year's NODXA Hospitality Suite at the Crown Plaza was exceptional. Most
of the main DXers showed up at the Suite and stayed until the late hours
of the morning. Plenty of food and drink were provided. I think this year's
highlight was a visit by 2016's CQ Amateur Radio DX Hall of Famer, Nigel
Jolly, KC3HAE. His name fits him and what an enjoyable personality this
individual has. My wife (along with Janeen, W8ZET) served breakfast to
the individuals in the block of NODXA/W8ZET rooms and were able to cook
Nigel his first ever waffle. Nigel never heard of waffles before and
really enjoyed them. We tried to convince Nigel to buy a waffle maker
to put on the Braveheart. However, Nigel gave us a long and interesting
explanation why it would not work on his ship (110v 60Hz versus 220v 50Hz,
he also thought it would interfere with the radios). Anyway, it was a
pleasure meeting him for the first time.
At the SWODXA DX Dinner it was announced that the DXpedition of the year was VP8STI/VP8SGI operation as well as the CQ magazine 2016 Hall of Fame inductees and CQ DX and Contest Halls of Fame honorees. (See OPDX.1266.1 for details)
The DX Forum had a great line-up, starting with Dave, K3LP, showing and narrating a video of the VP8STI/VP8SGI DXpedition (Paul, N6PSE was also there). The second talk was on the K5P Palmyra DXpedition by Craig/K9CT and Lou/N2TU. The third talk was on TX3X Chesterfield Island DXpedition by Gene, K5GS, and the fourth talk was by Robert, KK6EK, on the VK0EK Heard Island DXpedition.
The 2016 Dayton HamVention seemed to be well attended this year and the weather was almost perfect. There was very light rain on Saturday (not a wash-out) and cloudy most of the time on Friday/Saturday. Sunday was warm and had perfect weather. All in all, it was a great time as usual and I am totally burned-out and recovering (at least trying to while watching the grandkids) in Murfreesboro, TN. I will be looking forward to next year (hopefully at the same location)....
EG9, CEUTA AND MELILLA
Operators Javier/EC7DZZ and Manuel/EA7FKH will
be active as EG9LH from Melilla between July 16-17th. Activity will be
from Faro de Morro (LH:CEU-012,FEA:E-6762, ML 52001). Operation will be
on the HF bands using 100 watts in to a G5RV dipole antenna. QSL via

FY, FRENCH GUIANA
Gerard, F6CKD, continues to be active again as FY/F6CKD
from Montabo Beach until June 15th (not May 15th as reported earlier).
Activity has been mainly on 20/17 meters using an IC-706, w/tuner, into

HC, ECUADOR
Alexey, UA4WAE, will be active as HC2AO from Ecuador during
the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 28-29th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m)

FT4JA QSL STATUS. It was reported on May 23rd on the FT4JA Web page: We sent the files with our own QSL design to our printer and we received a sample to validate all kind of details last week. Now the card is on production and we expect to get them soon. On the other hand, we ordered a large number of envelopes (philatelic envelopes specially printed for our expedition). Z6, KOSOVO (Z60A - Kosovo HQ Station QRV in WPX-CW Contest - May 28-29th):

At the invitation of the Kosovo national Amateur Radio Society
(SHRAK), Nigel, G3TXF, plans to operate the Kosovo headquarters station
Z60A during this coming weekend's CQ WPX-CW Contest. This short CQ WPX-CW
operation from Kosovo is in preparation for SHRAK members taking part for
the first time in the IARU's HF Championship between July 9-10th, 2016.
The Kosovo national Amateur Radio Society (SHRAK) was welcomed as an
IARU member society on December 9, 2015.
For the IARU HF Championship in July, SHRAK will be operating its head- quarters station Z60A with multiple transmitters from a number of different locations around the country.
Nigel, G3TXF, is looking forward to visiting Kosovo for the third time and thanks the members of SHRAK for the opportunity to put their HQ club station Z60A on the air for the CQ WPX-CW Contest.
As part of the wider promotion of Amateur Radio in Kosovo, a permanent club station is being built at the Technical University in Pristina.
In support of this major project, the UK's DX Foundation CDXC has been pleased to help out the new University club station by donating a Yaesu G-1000DXC rotator for their HF antennas.

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLAND (Update)
Haru, JA1XGI, will be active as ZL7/JA1XGI
from Chatham Islands (OC-038) between November 24th and December 1st.
Activity will probably be on 160-10 meters, including the 30/17/12m bands,
using mainly CW with some RTTY, JT65 and PSK. Equipment is an IC-7300
into two different verticals. He also plans to be in the CQWW DX CW Contest
(November 26-27th). QSL via JA1XGI, direct, by the Bureau or LoTW. For

ZL7, CHATHAM ISLANDS (Update)
Members of the "6G" team will be active
as ZL7G from Chatham Island (OC-038) between October 27th and November
10th. The location has excellent short and long path take off towards
Europe where Chatham Island is still high on the wanted list. Activity
will be on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY with up to four stations
active at any one time. Operators mentioned are Don/G3BJ, Chris/G3SVL,
Nigel/G3TXF, Mike/G3WPH, Don/G3XTT, Hilary/G4JKS and Justin/G4TSH. QSL
