5U, NIGER
Just a reminder that Chris, F4WBN/TL0A, will once again be
active as 5U5U from Niger between May 30th and June 16th. Activity will
be holiday style on 40-6 meters using SSB and some RTTY. QSL via his
home callsign direct.
6Y, JAMAICA
Armin, DK9PY, is now active as 6Y6N from Saint Elizabeth
until June 2nd. Activity will be holiday style on the HF bands using his
FT-857 into an inverted L. Look for him to be in the CQWW WPX CW Contest
(May 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry using Josh's, 6Y5WJ, station.
QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the Bureau.
A4, OMAN
Members of the Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) [A47RS]
will be participating in the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 30-31st) using the
callsign A42A as a Multi-Op/Single-Transmitter/High-Power entry. QSL via
A47RS, by the Bureau or direct. Operators mentioned are Sageeth (SAN)/A45WH,
Mohib/ A41JZ, Fahad/A41LK and Aziz/A41RO.
C5, THE GAMBIA (Update)
Luc, F5RAV, will once again be active as as C5LT
from Kololi between October 20-27th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using
SSB, RTTY and possibly CW. Operations will also include the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 24-25th) using the shorter callsign C5C. It was reported
this week that Gerard, F5NVF, will be joining Luc, but will be active as
C5C on CW only. Also, Mustapha, C5MF, their guide in the Gambia and a new
ham, will be making his first QSOs with you. QSL via C5LT, C5C and C5MF
only direct to F5RAV.
CT3, MADEIRA ISLAND
Ricardo, CT3KN, will be active from Madeira Island
during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May 30-31st) as a Single-Op/Single-Band
(15m) entry. QSL via his home callsign, LoTW, direct or by the Bureau.
CU4, AZORES (Rare IOTA)
Operators Dave/K1ZZ, Linda/KA1ZD and Azores
operators Manuel/CU2CE, Francisco/CU2DX and Martti/OH2BH/CU2KG will
activate the rare IOTA Graciosa Island in the Azores Group as CU4DX on
IOTA frequency 14260 kHz, May 28-29th (two nights prior of the CQWW WPX

callsign EP2C. Details of the location has not been released. Stay tuned!
HS, THAILAND
Bob, HS0ZIA, will be active during the CQWW WPX CW Contest
(July 25-26th) this weekend. Reportedly, he has a multi element yagi at
200 ft. for 80 meters. Thailand radio rules continue to limit hams to
the bottom 25 kHz of 80m. This will be a good chance to get HS on 80m,
but you have to look for ZIA all hours in the contest, not just the last
hour. QSL via LoTW.

VP8SGI/VP8STI DXPEDITION NEWS (A request for funding!)
The following was
received from Paul, N6PSE [edited]: The last major operations from South
Sandwich and South Georgia Islands were in 2002. Since that time, these
islands have steadily climbed the most wanted list. South Sandwich is
currently the #3 most wanted DXCC entity, while South Georgia is the #8
most wanted entity.
Our goal is to conduct two 8-10 day DXpeditions to each of these top ten entities. To effectively do that, we need your support.
The fourteen members of the VP8STI/VP8SGI team have committed to paying $210,000 of the $425,000 needed to carry out this Dxpedition. To date, we have raised $315,000 which includes our team contribution. We still have a significant deficit of $110,000. The VP8STI/VP8SGI team needs the support of the worldwide DX Community to help us make this Dxpedition a success.
While donations from North America were strong initially, we would greatly appreciate more support from North America, Europe, Asia and South America. To date, North America Clubs & Foundations have provided 87% of our support, while 12% comes from Europe and less than one percent from Asia.
Both David (K3LP-Co Team Leader) and I think our plans for the low bands, which include a four-square for 40 meters, 2 phased verticals for 80 meters and 2 phased verticals on 160 meters plus a robust 4 station beverage system warrants a higher level of commitment from the DX community in general.
A dual rare Dxpedition like this warrants the same level of financial contribution as other recent major DXpeditions. We are all in financially at this point and need your assistance no matter what level of donation you can make.
So, please consider a generous contribution to this project. To have your club or organization’s logo included with the QSL card, please contribute $250 or more. Individual contributions of $150 or more will be listed with the QSL card. All donors of $25 or more will receive an early LoTW upload. Everyone who supports the Dxpedition will be listed and properly recognized on our website.
Our plans are moving forward in all aspects. We have just made our second installment of $113,000 to the Braveheart. Next month, we will ship a container to Auckland, New Zealand where its contents will be loaded aboard the Braveheart in October. In March, we will ship our equipment home when the Braveheart arrives in Cape Town, South Africa. The shipping of our equipment is our second greatest cost behind the vessel charter.
We encourage you to visit our website

XU, CAMBODIA
Jarrad, VK3HXT, has recently received his XU7AGA callsign
and has moved to Sihanoukville on Koh Rong Island to be with his brother.
He has two HF radio - Icom IC-7200 HF/6M Transceiver and Yaesu FT-817ND
QRP Transceiver (which he is currently using). At some stage in the future,
he hopes to be able to offer visiting hams the chance to rent his Sihanouk-
ville Shack, and provide advice (and equipment). QSL via VK3HXT. For more
details and possible updates, see QRZ.com (under XU7AGA). ClubLog's OQRS
