3B8, MAURITIUS (Update/Remider)
By the time you read this, Robert, M0RCX, should be active as 3B8/M0RCX from Mauritius until May 28th. He informed OPDX several weeks ago (OPDX.1146) that his trip to Mauritius is more as a tourist with his family and not seen as a DXpedition. His power will be limited to 100 watts, and he hopes to have a hexbeam, a wire beam for 6m (possibly made from the island's bamboo), as well as a delta loop and long wire available for his activity. His operating position will be close to the city center of Port Louis in the North West of the Island. He does plan/hopes to operate at least 3 hours a day on the following HF Phone bands: 40/20/17/15/12/10 meters. He is also planning to operate on some PSK and JT65 making some contacts with low to modest power levels (NO amp). Robert has been asked about moonbounce over the horizon but thinks this may be optimistic with only 100 watts. He will set up a schedule on QRZ.com under 3B8M0RCX. He has already posted suggested frequencies on his FaceBook page: CW - 7012, 10116, 14012, 18086, 21012, 24906 and 28012 kHz
SSB - 7095, 14210, 18120, 21255, 24945 and 28440 kHz
RTTY - 7040, 10137, 14077, 18106, 21098, 24920 and 28110 kHz
PSK - 7035, 10132, 18100, 21080, 24920 and 28120 kHz
6m - 50102/CW and 50115/SSB Robert also mentions, "I plan to live over there in about four years so hopefully I'll get a feel for it. QTH is inland about a mile from the ocean but there is a mountain behind me (east) this is why I wish to push my signals over to the west." QSL via M0RCX, direct, by the Bureau or eQSL. TX6G QSLING (Update). Nigel, G3TXF, has been doing his usual amazing job with the QSLs. All direct and bureau cards requested to date (by mail, OQRS, etc.) have been processed within 4 weeks of their return from the expedition. A full report, along with some photographs, appears on Nigel's website. Once he has fully recuperated (!), Nigel will start to look at the log inquiries that have been received to date (broken calls, not in log, etc.). Please bear with them on this - these can sometimes be quite time-consuming to resolve, which is why they made it a priority to deal first with straightforward QSL requests.

VK0, HEARD ISLAND (Update)
More details/plans have been released as well as a new official Web page for the 2016 Heard Island VK0EK DXpedition http://vk0ek.org. This DXpedition is part of a larger project called "The Heard Island Project: Discovering Life in the Extremes", which you can also find here:

http://www.heardisland.org
The DXpedition plans to set up two sites on the island:
1) They will set up stations at the original 1997 VK0IR DXpedition site – Atlas Cove.
2) The second site – Sealers Beach / Doppler Hill – which is located at Spit Bay.
The Web page states,
"We expect worldwide demand for as many as 150,000 contacts, with as many as 50,000 different stations. In order to satisfy this demand, we will operate four stations for a period of nearly three weeks, with a team of 20 radio operators. We are developing a 'fast deploy' strategy so that we can be on the air in one day, and break down in one day maximize the time on the air. This will be a 'full service' operation (all-bands, all modes), with the four stations running continuously. We plan to dedicate one station to making only 'All-time-new-ones' (ATNOs), giving radio operators their first contact ever with Heard Island. We will also make special efforts to log contacts with all license class operators, who have more limited band privileges."
Operators currently listed are Bob/KK6EK (Leader), Rich/KY6R (Co- Organizer), Willy/HB9AHL, Adam/N2ARB, Bill/N2WB, Alan/VK6CQ, Les/W2LK, David/WD5COV and Jackie/ZL3CW. The Web page is still under construction, but has plently of info and pictures to look at.
