I likely will start calling then filter by districts and zones and will
be on 14.185 or 190 TX and listening up 5 to start. I also want to try
CW on 30M since Chile just opened that up and it will be a first for San

IOTA ACTIVATIONS
NA-067. Eric will be on vacation between August 4-10th on Hatteras
Island. Operating will be vacation-style and he will try to
be available on 40-6 meters using CW and SSB. Eric knows this
island group has been well represented in the past so he does
not expect many pileups, but maybe he can work some rare ones
himself!
IOTA ACTIVITY BY K6VVA (NA-004/NA-050/NA-172)
Look at the NOAA Forecast graph at http://www.k6vva.com/iota/na172.
Our planned dates for NA-172 were July 17-20th. NA-172 will unfortunately
NOT happen this year - the "handwriting is on the wall". ;-(
A new 'Game Plan' for next year (2014) will involve new advance arrange-
ments for a potentially MUCH longer stay on the mainland to wait out any
solar issues. This will also be a more costly activation due to added
'Polar Bear Guard' protection cautionary measures including paying for
the boat to remain at the Island with us in the event of a need for a
QRQ Exit. 'Safety First' is the highest priority for Mike/K9AJ and myself.
There are a lot of costly logistical matters to be rescheduled involving
the NA-172 activation.
That's the situation. Ditto for NA-004. However, I will still make a
THIRD attempt at NA-050 myself which is more 'turnkey' to accomplish,
and not as much $$$ loss risk if solar condx take a dump on the way
there, upon arrival or during the activation. ;-(
UPDATE FROM RICK: Rick was going to try to activate NA-050 this past
weekend, but he had to postpone -- "Due to increased unexpected solar
disturbances, Auroral Oval, potential NA-050 fog and now the likelihood
of departure delays and missed connections due to the re-routing of many
plane flights down to the San Jose Airport resulting from the unfortunate
plane crash at nearby SFO airport, this trip is being (postponed) again."

KH6BZF PROPAGATION FORECAST/REPORT (July 8-14th)
The intention of the group is not to support other DXpeditions rather
than to carry out its own ones. Besides having fun and going on DXpeditions
as the main goals, the Lagunaria DX Group also supports international
understanding, shares technical ideas with others and makes use of high
and bullet-proof technical standards.
The group members (DJ5IW, DJ7EO, DJ9RR, DL1MGB, DL3DXX, DL5CW, DL5LYM,
DL6FBL, DL8OH, DL8WPX and SP5XVY) are not only all known from a lot of
DXpeditions in the past, but also as passionate contesters of the Bavarian
Contest Club (BCC).
After several discussions in Friedrichshafen the group already started
with planning a new one. More information about this will be available
soon.
Please have a look at the homepage of the Lagunaria DX Group

- The CQ WW VHF Contest July 20-21st (on 50 MHz only)
- The RSGB IOTA Contest July 27-28th.
His objective is to enjoy radio, run the contest with green energy only
and score among the "TOP 10" world stations in the SOABLP category. You
can follow his activities and antenna experimentation on:
18m top loaded vertical monopole for 160-80m-40m bands + 32 radials.
Also, live video streaming will be provided on:

500Ah battery bank + 180W solar panel and 400W wind generator.
Ken, K4ZW, will once again be back in Addis Ababa between
July 12-19th. He plans to operate from ET3AA, the Ethiopian Amateur Radio
Society (EARS) club station. He mentions to OPDX that most of his time
will be spent on CW, but is going to try and be active on RTTY as well.
Ken also states to look for ET3AA HQ station during the IARU HF World
Championship (July 13-14th). QSLs go to N2OO. In fact, Bob is handling
QSLs now for ET3AA, but he doesn't have all of the logs. There is a
chart on the ET3AA QRZ.com Web page that lists the logs he does have.
By the time you read this,
Vadym, UT6UD (ex-A35UD and S21XV), will be active as FO/UT6UD from the
Hiva Oa Island (OC-027), Marquesas Island, until 1500z, July 13th. He
will then move onto Rurutu Island (OC-050), Austral Island. Vadym plans
to be there between 0400z, July 15th and 1600z, July 22nd. Activity will
be on 40-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. His equipment is a TS-590 and

WLOTA 0383) to be active as FS/homecall between July 10-14th. Activity
will be on multi-bands and multi-modes on HF according to the best
available propagation. QSL both callsigns via AF6WU, direct or by the
Bureau. Also eQSL, LoTW and Clublog. For direct QSLs, U.S. stations send
1 US stamp, 33 cents does it. DX stations send 1 USD or 1 IRC. Don't send
him a standard envelope, the card is large, 4" x 5.25", and it won't fit.

be active as FS/homecall from St. Martin (NA-105, WLOTA 0383) between
October 24-31st. Activity will probably be like their PJ7 operation -
a suitcase operation on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB, with wire antennas
and 100 watts. The trio will be active as FS/N1SNB during the CQWW DX SSB
Contest (October 26-27th). QSL "ALL" callsigns via AA4VK.
Mauro, IZ1DPS will be active as HC/IZ1DPS from Ecuador

Eric, W4OTN/3, informs OPDX that he is currently
planning on two IOTA DXpeditions: Smith Island (NA-140) and Hatteras
(Pea) Island (NA-067). The DXpedition to Smith Island is up in the air
due to him having to sail there, but the latter to Hatteras Island will
definitely happen unless there is some hurricane that forces him to stay
home. His plan is as follows:
NA-140 - Smith Island is a small island in Maryland's Chesapeake Bay.
Available only by boat, he will be sailing there to operate
from the marina using shore-based antennas and transceivers.
Eric will provide an update as it gets closer to the time to
make his way south. Operation will be over the last weekend
in July 2013 for the annual RSGB IOTA Contest. Activity will
most likely be 40-10 meters SSB. He may be able to do some
CW, depending on how much practice he get before then.
QSL via LoTW, direct (w/SASE OR SAE and 1 IRC), or SKCC or the ARRL
Bureau. Eric will update everyone on his Web page as time gets closer for
these events to happen at:
Rick, K6VVA, sent out the
following info on June 30th [edited]: "The decision was just made about

modest setup (low power and verticals antennas). They also
will participate in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th).
QSL via LoTW or direct to CT3KN.
Operators Clarence/WX7E and Ron/WJ7R are planning to be
active from Grenada (NA-024, WLOTA 0718) during the CQWW DX SSB Contest
(October 26-27th) as a Multi-Single entry. QSL via LoTW. Dates of stay,
callsign(s) and activities outside of the contest were not announced yet.
