5H, TANZANIA
Serge, F6AML, will be active as 5H1Z from Zanzibar (AF-032)
between January 20th and February 28th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters
using CW and SSB. During his time there, he may be active from Mafia
Island (AF-054), Pemba Island (AF-063) and an island in the AF-075 IOTA
group. His equipment is a FT857D with a 400w amp into a HF6V with 8

5X, UGANDA (Update)
Members of the F6KOP team are expected to be active
as 5X8C between February 6-18th, from a location some 20 Km from Entebbe
airport. The latest report states that the team is now complete with the
last operators Jean-Louis/F5NHJ and David/EI9FBB. Unfortunately, Frank,
F4AJQ, will not be able to operate from 5X and is now the team leader of
the "Back Office" in France. Operators Seb/F5UFX and Alain/F6ENO are now
team leaders of the DXpedition to 5X. Mode leaders are Bernard/F9IE (CW),
Flo/F5CWU (SSB) and Jean-Paul/F8BJI (RTTY). The current DXpedition team
is as follows:
CW Team #1: Seb/F5UFX, Dave/K4SV, Patrick/F2DX and Norbert/DJ7JCJohn, F5VHQ, will join the team on February 13th, which will complete the 25. The two pilots stations are: Thierry/F4TTR for the French speaking people and Andre/V51B, for the English speaking Hams. All the matters are booked and papers are in hand. Look for the first signals expected on February 8th, around noon. The main focus will be on the low bands, with two dedicated K3 radios. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK.

60 METER NEWS
* Johan, SM0TSC, has been given an experimental license for six months
to put Sweden on 60 meters (5 MHz). He is allowed to operate on 5310,
5320, 5380 and 5390 center frequency plus 1.5 KHz, maximum of 3 kHz

* Peter, OX3XR, reports that Greenland has now gotten the following frequency band for 5 MHz: 5250-5450 kHz. He will soon be active using a dipole on 5 MHz.
9G, GHANA

"I will be operating portable
from January-May 2013 in Ghana, West Africa, as 9G5MS with my Yaesu
FT-857D. Anyone is welcome to make a contact, though priority will be
given to schools, universities, and prescheduled contacts. I am volun-
teering with a non-profit called 'Medicine on the Move' and will be
using amateur radio in the classroom for the students from the 'AvTech
Academy' in Kpong, Ghana. QSL cards are tentatively planned and can be
expected in the 2nd half of 2013 if requested. I hope to be operating
during the ARRL School Club Roundup as well."
9Y, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (Cancelled)
Jim, N6TJ, has cancelled his activity
as 9Y4W from Scarborough, Tobago Island (SA-009, WLOTA 0412), for the ARRL
DX CW Contest (February 16-17th). His host on Tobago has a broken tower and
there is no time to fix it before the contest.
A3, TONGA (Update)
Werner, DJ9KH, will be active from Tongatapu Island
(OC-049) between February 13-23rd, and Vava'u Island (OC-064) between
February 24th and March 2nd. His callsigns will be A31WH (OC-049) and
A31WH/p (OC-064). He will pick up his license as soon as he arrives in
Tonga. His equipment will be a K3 with 100 watts and wire-antennas (loops
and verticals). Activity will be on the HF bands, depending on propagation.
Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 1826.5, 3505, 7020, 10105, 14024, 18080, 21024, 24894 and 28024 kHz
SSB - 3799, 7070, 14190, 18145, 21290, 24950 and 28490 kHz

DAYTON HAMVENTION NEWS
Tim, K3LR, reports that the 2013 Dayton TopBand
dinner will be held on Friday evening May 17th, at the Crowne Plaza in
the Presidential Ballroom - downtown Dayton, Ohio. Top Band Social hour
is at 6:15 PM and Dinner starts at 7:15 PM. Noted Top Band enthusiast -
Larry "Tree" Tyree, N6TR will give a program. Reservations are available

H40, TEMOTU PROVINCE
Sigi, DK9FN, will once again return to the Temotu
Province for a fifth time and be active as H40FN, but this time from

IO5, ITALY (Special Event/AAW Week). Leo, IW5EFX, informs OPDX that he
will be active as IO5SP during the month of February and 10th Antarctic
Activity Week (AAW). The suffix stands for "South Pole". A special QSL will be
sent 100% via the Bureau. See info on QRZ.com. He also mentions to look
for IO5ANT during the AAWeek from National Antarctic Museum in Siena, Italy.

EU-006. Members of the Westnet DX Group will once again be active as
EJ7NET from the Aran Islands between May 10-15th. Operators
mentioned are Declan/EI6FR, Tony/EI3HA, Tony/EI2GX, Liam/EI7DSB,
Dermot/EI5IQ, Tony/EI2KC, Bernhard/HB9ASZ, Rolf/HB9DGV, Gordon/

Activity will be on all bands and modes. They will also be an entry in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th). QSL is 100% via the Bureau. No e-QSL.
EU-123. Operators Ken/G0ORH and David/G3KLH will be active as MM3I from Arran Island (IOSA CL01, SCOTIA CS14), in the Clyde Islands IOTA group between July 22-30th. Activity will include an entry in the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 27-28th). Look for activity on 30/17/12 meters outside of the contest. They also plan some activity on 60 meters (5 MHz). QSL via G0ORH.
OC-285. Ralph, H44RK (aka 5W0W), is going to activate Sikaiana Atoll. Dates have not been provided. Ralph is currently active from Apia, Somoa, until March 3rd. Members of Verona DX Team will once again return to
Cumura to help with the mission work and be active as J52HF between
February 10th and March 2nd. In their spare time, they will be on air

from Aruba (SA-036) between March 26th and April 3rd. Activity will
include the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 30-31st) as a Single-Op/All-Band

he has made many updates to his GS/IRC Chart. He states, "It's the New
Year and many countries are raising their postal prices, and it's time

S7, SEYCHELLES
Operators of the Uruguay DX Group (Mario/CX4CR and
Bert/CX3AN) plan a 2013 DXpedition to the Seychelles. However, Mario
had developed some health problem and ended up with a triple by-pass.
At the moment he is recovering 100% and again on the bands. Bert will
go ahead with the plans, but alone for this year's DXpedition. Look for
him to be active as S79AN from Pointe Larue on Mahe Island (AF-024)
between February 4-11th. Activity will be holiday style on 80-6 meters,
including 30/17/12 meters, using CW and SSB. He will try to operate as
much as he can. QSL via CX3AN direct only (see (QRZ.com)). NO Bureau or
eQSL.
SI9, SWEDEN
Operators Raf/ON5RZ, Dirk/ON7DS and Jean/ON4JW will operate
as SI9AM between January 23-28th, from the "King Chulalongkorn Memorial"
the largest Thai Pavilion in the world outside Thailand in Raganda, Sweden.
The trio plan to be an entry in the UBA DX Contest (January 26-27th).
Outside of the contest, they will be active on 160-10 meters using CW,
SSB and FM. Suggested frequencies are:

TC16, TURKEY (Special Event)
Members of the Turkish Radio Amateur Club
(TRAC) from the Bursa Branch (the YM3KB team) are currently activating
the special callsign TC16BURSA as of January 10th through March 10th.
Activity will be on all the bands under the terms of propagation, using
CW, SSB, PSK snd ROS modes. Station information about actively working
bands, frequencies and modes will be announced online on their Facebook

TCSWAT 2013 ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCED
Bekir, TA2RX, informs OPDX that the
members of the "TC Special Wireless Activity Team" (TCSWAT) have announced
their activities for 2013 to activate several special callsigns in memory
of those who lost their lives in WWI and some other upcoming anniversaries.
The "Giresun Radio Amateurs and Nature Sports Club" (GITRAD) will also
join them on two more such activities listed below. The TCSWAT might be
organizing some foreign DXpeditions again, if they can get the permissions.

brate the 10th Antarctic Activity Week (AAW). Operations will be made by
François, F8DVD, from his QTH in Mâcon, in the eastern part of France,
60 km north of Lyon. The reference for the WAP program is 235. Operations

TO22, GUADELOUPE
French operators Michel/F6GWV and Gildas/F6HMQ will be
active as TO22C from Guadeloupe between February 17th and March 3rd.
Activity will be on all bands, but with a focus on 160 meters. QSL via

the CQ 160 Meter CW Contest (January 25-27th). QSL via his home callsign.

VK9C, COCOS KEELING ISLANDS
Operators Chris/GM3WOJ (ZK2V) and Keith/
GM4YXI (ZK2X) will be active signing VK9C/GM2MP from Cocos Keeling Island
(OC-003) between March 30th and April 13th. Activity will be on SSB and
CW, with some RTTY. It is hoped to have a real-time logging system and
daily LoTW uploads if possible. More details to follow ...
VK9N, NORFOLK ISLAND
Ten operators and members of the Oceania DX Group
(ODXG) will be active as VK9NT from Norfolk Island (OC-005) between May
3-13th. Planning is now well underway with accommodations and air travel
booked. The group plans to have 4 stations covering all bands 80-10 meters
on CW, SSB and RTTY. Operators mentioned are Chris/VK3QB (Team Leader),
Luke/VK3HJ, Lee/VK3GK, Benton/VK3CBV, Allan/VK2CA (QSL Manager/Webmaster),
Catherine/VK4GH, John/VK4IO, Roy/VK3GB, Peter/VK3IJ and Graeme/VK3GL.
An "Online QSL Request Service" will be available for Bureau, and direct cards on ClubLog which is the PREFERRED method. If for some reason you cannot use the OQRS or LoTW, QSL can go direct to VK2CA. For more details and updates, visit the VK9NT Web page at:
VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS
Jeff, K0UU (ex-WV3B), will be active as
VP5/K0UU from Grand Turk Island (NA-003) between February 13-21st. Activity
will be focused on the 30/17/12 meters and the ARRL DX CW Contest (February
16-17th) signing with the special callsign VQ5RP. QSL via LoTW or K0UU,
(direct or by the Bureau).
Z6, KOSOVO
Marijan, S56A, will be active as Z6/S56A from Batlava Lake
during the CQ 160 Meter CW Contest (January 25-27th) as a Low-Power
entry. QSL via S56A.
ZS8, MARION ISLAND
Reports indicate that David, ZS1BCE, has been appointed
to be the new radio technician on Marion Island (AF-021) for one year
between April and May (2014). David is expected to depart from Cape Town
on April 15th, and radio activity will start about four weeks later.
Operations will only be on SSB and on most HF bands. Currently, he does
not have a ZS8 callsign, but he plans to applied for ZS8D. QSL via Pierre,
ZS1HF, who was the last operator from Marion as ZS8M.
