3D2C, CONWAY REEF (Press Release)
Paul Ewing, N6PSE, sent out the following press release #1 on July 3rd:

"The World-Wide DX Group, led by Hrane Milosevic-YT1AD, is pleased to announce our next DXpedition, as 3D2C from the remote South-Pacific atoll of Conway Reef. This Dxpedition will take place from September 24th to October 5th, 2012. The World-Wide DX Group is the same group which brought you the recent 3D2C Rotuma Island Dxpedition in September, 2011.

Our primary objective is to activate Conway Reef with a goal of providing as many DXers as possible a "new one" with this rare DXCC entity and, as a secondary objective, to give as many band-slots as possible. We will target European contacts during those periods when propagation is possible and we will ask JA and North America to stand buy during those brief periods when the bands are open to EU.

The team consists of sixteen operators including: Leader-Hrane Milozevic- YT1AD, Co-Leader Alex Romanov-UA4HOX, Co-Leader Paul Ewing-N6PSE, Dave Flack-AH6HY, David Jorgensen-WD5COV, Vasily Kozerodov-RW4NW, Dr. Alan Eshelman-K6SRZ-Team Physician, Alan Maenchen-AD6E, Sergej Yanovsky-RZ3FW, Craig Thompson-K9CT, Stanislav Vatev-LZ1CG, George Williams-N6NKT, Alexander Kuznetsov-RW3RN, Peter Sprengel-PY5CC and Mike Flowers-K6MKF.

Our QSL Manager is Hrane Milosevic-YT1AD. We will have OQRS, we will accept direct and bureau QSL cards. We plan to upload our logs to Club Log on a daily basis.

At this time, we are seeking Foundation, Club and individual support for this Dxpedition.

You can find out more about our plans at our website:

Thank you,
The World-Wide-DX Group"

CQ NEW (Press Release)
Richard Moseson, W2VU, sent out the following press release on July 3rd:
"Logbook of the World Support for CQ WPX Award Goes "Live" -- Participants in CQ magazine's WPX award program may now use the American Radio Relay League's Logbook of the World (LoTW) system to apply for the WPX award and its endorsements. Amateurs will be able to use LoTW logs to generate lists of confirmed contacts to be submitted for WPX credit. Standard LoTW credit fees and CQ award fees will apply. LoTW support for the WPX award went 'live' on July 2.

Logbook of the World is the ARRL's electronic confirmation system for amateur radio contacts. It provides a confirmation when both stations in a contact submit their logs to the system and a match between the logs is confirmed.

The application process for the WPX award via LoTW is the same as applying for ARRL-sponsored awards (such as DXCC and Worked All States), according to ARRL, which adds that Logbook users will notice that a WPX account has automatically been created for them on their LoTW awards page.

ARRL adds that amateurs wishing to apply for the WPX Award via Logbook of the World will pay 12 cents for each QSO they use in their application. A separate fee for the WPX Award (and endorsements) is payable to CQ: Subscribers will be charged $6 for each award, while non-subscribers will be charged $12 for each award. Endorsement stickers are $1 each.

WPX is the first non-ARRL award supported by LoTW. Support for the rest of CQ's operating achievement awards - including Worked All Zones (WAZ), the USA-Counties Award (USA-CA) and the CQ DX and DX Field Awards - will be phased in over time.

ARRL www.arrl.org is the National Association for Amateur Radio in the United States and publisher of QST magazine. CQ Communications, Inc. www.cqcomm.com is publisher of CQ Amateur Radio magazine and is the world's largest independent publisher of amateur radio magazines, books and videos."
