2011 DX SOUND BITES
Tom, K8CX, has done it again. He has provided DXers with 130 memorable DX sound clips from 2011. Visit Tom's famous "HAM GALLERY" Web at:

http://hamgallery.com/dx2011
While there also check out some of his other features on his Web page, such as: 14 years of "Rare DX Sound Clips" of the past (as well as some clips from the 1960's and 1970's), QSL Card Museum, Dayton Photo Galleries and Tribute to Silent Key Ham Operators. Tom states, "If anyone has any old HF recordings, I would be interested in hearing from them."

60 METER (NEW) WEB SITE
Joe, W8GEX, (from 60m News) informs: "I just want to let you know that our old Web site shut down on Dec. 31st. We want to thank Tom, K4MM, for his help on the former site for so many years. It was a challenge and he did a fine job. With the help of K3ZXL, K5YY and myself, we have a new 60m Web site at:

http://60metersonline.net
Here you will find a collection of information about current events and upcoming DXpeditions, plus more. The new site is hosted by Dan Schaaf, K3ZXL of Punta Gorda, Florida. Dan has been on 60 meters since 2003 when we were given the new band. An avid DXer, you can find Dan in the pileup on any band, and any mode. Dan will bring his DXing experience and enthusiasm to the new Web site. Dan already has the new site activated, and it is still a work in progress. While he updates info from the former site, he invites news from all of you. This is our forum to keep everyone interested in 60m up-to-date on the activities, and the when and where to look for DX. So if you have anything to report, please forward it to Dan, K3ZXL at: dan-schaaf@att.net

We certainly thank Dan for accepting the challenge of keeping all of us happy DXers!"

DXCC SEES AN INCREASE IN APPLICATIONS
In this week's "ARRL Letter", they report that more amateurs are working DX, which means the ARRL's Membership and Volunteer Programs Department, especially the DXCC Desk and the ARRL Incoming and Outgoing QSL Bureaus, are working very hard in processing applications (for initial awards and endorsements) and sending out cards via the different QSL Bureaus. In 2010, the DXCC Desk processed 7134 applications for initial awards and endorsements; these 2010 applications included 853,462 QSOs. In 2011, the DXCC Desk processed 11,175 applica- tions, containing 1,250,864 QSOs. HK0NA DXPEDITION (Latest News Dated January 6th)
From the HK0NA Web page:

" 'The fantastic four' are working very hard and doing a great job on the Island! We are in daily contact with them. They are tired but in high spirits. Most of the camp infrastructure and antennas for Op.B (bajo) is now complete. Two antennas require further testing.

Today, they made the climb to the top of the mountain (300m), this will be the location for Op. A (alto). The purpose was to survey the antenna and operating locations. It is a fairly strenuous climb, and it took about 40 minutes to get to the top. Afterward, a decision was made to place the operating position and sleep tent at the very top of the mountain and schedule operators for 2 day shifts to minimize transit risks. Set up of the camp infrastructure and antennas at OP A will begin in a couple of days. We plan another press release prior to our departure to Bogota on Jan. 18th."

For more details and updates, visit: http://hk0na.com
LATE ADDED NOTE: THE HK0NA team has asked two prominent DXers to act as pilots for the Malpelo 2012 Dxpedition. They are Dr. San Hutson, K5YY, and Col McGowan, MM0NDX.

E44PM LOTW. Peri, HB9IQB, reports on January 3rd: "I've uploaded the E44PM log onto LoTW today. The file has been processed within a few minutes and 2279 of the 7415 Qs showed an immediate match."

IRCS AVAILABLE. Steve, N3SL, has a cache of current IRCs (over 200) for sale. The price is 1.75 USDs each, postage paid (to US stations). Please E-mail to arrange purchases at: n3sl at arrl.net.

JW8AJA QSL REQUESTS. QSL Manager Trond, LA9VDA, reports on (QRZ.com) [edited]: "QSL cards can be requested via E-mail to la9vda (at) gmail.com. For a direct QSL, please add 3 USDs or 1 new and stamped IRC and SAE. Cards without this will be sent through the bureau. Postage is now 15,- Nkr. One U.S. dollar is worth little over one Norway dollar. This is after the bank has taken their fee and stuff..... two USDs does not cover to buy a stamp for overseas mail. For many years I have sponsored the DX world, but I can't do this any more."

PV0F BROKEN CALLSIGN IN NOVEMBER 2011. Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV, reports: "I have received a number of QSLs for a PV0F operation during November, 2011. I am certain there was no operation using that call at that time; however I note that P40F was extremely active by R5GA for the CQ WW contest. I will gather November 2011 PV0F cards sent to me for a awhile and then send them off to R5GA assuming the senders miscopied his P40F callsign."
