4J/4K, AZERBAIJAN (Nagorno Karabakh Region)
Members of the "Federation of Radio Sports of Azerbaijan" and the Safari DX Activators Club are organizing a DXpedition to the Nagorno Karabakh area between September 29th and October 2nd. The DXpedition will use two different callsigns, 4K3K and 4J0K, from two different two shacks. Please be aware that the mentioned callsigns are only legal to operate in the assigned Nagorno Karabakh area. No other callsigns are issued for the named territory by the Ministry of Communication of Azerbaijan. Any other callsigns are considered illegal. QSL both callsigns via RW6HS.

4W6, TIMOR-LESTE

6Y, JAMAICA
Dennis, W1UE, will be on as W1UE/6Y5 from the 6Y1V contest station on Jamaica (NA-097, WLOTA 0214) between now and October 4th. Activity will focus on the low bands using CW, SSB and RTTY, as time permits. Dennis will also participate in the following contests using the callsign 6Y6U: CQWW RTTY Contest (September 24-25th) as a Single-Op/ All-Band/High-Power entry and the California QSO Party (October 1-2nd). 8P, BARBADOS
Operators Hermann/DL2NUD, Frank/DL8YHR and Joachim/DL9MS will be active as 8P9HP, 8P9DL and 8P9MS, respectively, from Barbados (NA-021), between November 7-21st. Activity will be on HF bands as well as 6 and 2 meters EME. QSL via their home callsigns.

9N, NEPAL (Update)
The countdown has started on the Mediterraneo DX Club's DXpedition to Nepal. It is just less than two months away and the international DXpedition team will be on air from 9N-land! Activity is scheduled to take place between November 13-25th. The team is still looking for support to help pay for all the shipping of the equipment. So they have now initiated the following: For each contribution of at least 10 Euros, they will send a nice supporter special pin. C5, THE GAMBIA
After last year's successful DXpedition to The Gambia during which the Czech-Slovak team succeeded in part CQWW DX CW Contest to gain the world trophy in the category Multi-Multi, operators Richard/ OK8WW/OM2TW and Jiri/OK1RI have organized another contest DXpedition to this country. A group of 12 operators from the Czech Republic (OK) and Slovak Republic (OM) will operate under the callsign C50C between October 21st and November 1st, and between November 20-28th. FJ/TO3, ST. BARTHELEMY

The "DX-World.net" Web page is reporting the following information: "Rumors coming out of Georgia, USA ­ with separate confirm- ation from a trusted source ­ suggest a major DXpedition to Navassa Island (#2 Most Wanted DXCC) is now in full planning stage for March 2012." OJ0, MARKET REEF
Looks like Market Reef will be busy the next few weeks. Thanks to the cooperation of the Finnish Lighthouse Society and their transportation partner, Captain Mats Sjostrom of Aland Islands, Radio Arcala team (OH8X) and their associates, they have planned a 3 week operation from Market Reef (OJ0X) which began this week. Operations will be done by an international team of thirteen operators that will operate on a one week shift. This week, look for operators Salvatore/ DH7SA, Dietmar/DL3DXX, Andreas/DL5CW and Robert/SP5XVY to be on the WARC bands and in the CQWW RTTY Contest (September 24-25th). This will be followed by operators Pekka/OH1TV, Miika/OH2BAD, Ilmo/OH2BO and Tapani/OH5BM, who will be on the low bands as well as the regular bands. The last week of operation will be done by Nigel/G3TXF, Martti/OH2BH, Pertti/OH2PM, Teemu/SM0W and Rick/SM6U, who will participate in the SAC SSB Contest (October 8-9th). SILENT KEY
Several have informed OPDX that Doc Sheller, K8RR (ex-WN8WZT, WA8ZDF, K8RZ, WT8AA, KN8Z), became a Silent Key (SK) on September 12th. Doc may be best known for being on the ARRL DX Advisory Committee (DXAC). He was also the DXAC chairman in 1974. He was also a founding/charter member of the Mad River Radio Club. OPDX and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of K8RR.

ST0R DXPEDITION TO THE SOUTH SUDAN (Press Release #6)

T32, EASTERN KIRBATI (T32C Christmas Island DXpedition)
Don, G3XTT, FSDXA Publicity Officer, sent out the following press release (Bulletin #4) on September 16th:

"It's been one of those years. Spratly and Jarvis had to be postponed and now our own, T32C, expedition has hit some logistical problems in that our container with its 6 tonnes of kit got as far as T30 (Tarawa), but onward shipping to T32 has proved impossible despite our best efforts and promises from those involved in 3D2, T30 and T32. The ship that was due to bring our container from Tarawa has broken down and is being towed to Fiji for repairs.

WHAT NOW -- So what happens now? The answer is that we will go ahead anyway. The team is complete and set to go, the hotel is expecting us, and the sunspots seem to be on the increase.

Thanks to Yaesu, our Global Sponsor, we will have ten FT-450D radios, which we will hand carry to T32, along with several lightweight linears. Yaesu's support has been absolutely outstanding. We will also take enough hardware to set up verticals and vertical arrays for all bands 160 through 10. It may even be possible to run multiple stations on some bands, though not to the extent that we had previously planned. All our computer equipment was to be hand-carried in any case, so daily log updates to ClubLog (see Bulletin 3) will be unaffected. Unfortunately, unless our container makes an unlikely late arrival on the island, 6m EME will have to be abandoned, and we will not have the 4-square arrays for 30 and 40. But we will do our best to set up phased systems or other antenna con- figurations to achieve gain, especially towards Europe where will continue to focus our efforts.

TIMINGS -- The expedition dates are unaffected, but we cannot realis- tically expect to have stations running on nine bands by the first weekend, though we will aim to be on some bands, at least. As we will not have everything pre-kitted, there will be a lot of building and configuration work to do once we arrive at Christmas. The good news is that we are there for nearly four weeks and will be operating through four weekends, so there should be plenty of opportunity to get into our log.

TP50, FRANCE
The "Council of Europe Radio Amateur Club" (CERAC - TP2CE) will be active as TP50CE between September 23-24th. Activity is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the European Social Charter. TU, IVORY COAST (Update)
An Italian team consisting of Alfeo/I1HJT, Silvano/I2YSB, Vinicio/IK2CIO, Angelo/IK2CKR, Marcello/IK2DIA, Stefano/ IK2HKT and Angelo/IK2RZP will be active as TU2T from the Ivory Coast between October 27th and November 11th. VP2, ANGUILLA
Pete, VE3IKV/VA3RA, will be active (hopefully) as VP2ERA from Anguilla (NA-022) between November 25th and December 3rd. His activity will include an entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th). VP8, FALKLAND ISLANDS

VP8ORK SOUTH ORKNEY ISLAND DVD (Review by OPDX Editor Tedd, KB8NW)
Just before going to print for this week's bulletin, I had a chance to preview the 2011 VP8ORK MicroLite Penguins DXpedition's to South Orkney Islands DVD by well-known DXpedition video photographer/operator James Brooks, 9V1YC. I can say that this is another "must have" DVD for a DXer's collection. James's talents have captured the workings of the VP8ORK DXpedition and the majestic scenery of the Antarctic on this video.

It is well worth the watch. In 52 mintues you witness the loading of the radio equipment onto the ship "Braveheart" in Ushuaia, Argentina, the trip south to South Orkney (including icebergs along the way), as well as the landing, unloading and setup of equipment and shelters on the island. You get to see the extreme challenges the team endured installing antennas in the hard rugged terrain; including scenes of operators working the pile-ups and the many seals. YJ, VANUATU
Operators Ben/DJ0YI and Tom/NQ7R will be active as YJ0ABP and YJ0ANR, respectively, from Vanuatu between September 27th and October 15th. They are part of the YJ0VK DXpedition (see below) and plan to operate before and after the main DXpedition operation. They plan to arrive at Port Vila on September 27th, and are expected to become operational that day until September 30th, when the main VK0VK group arrives from VK-land. After October 12th, when the main operation closes, they will remain and operate until October 15th. Their activity will be mostly CW and the Digital modes. QSL YJ0ABP via DJ0YI. YJ, VANUATU (Update)
A team of 8 amateur radio operators from Australia and the USA will be activating YJ0VK from Port Vila on Efate Island between September 30th and October 12th. Earlier updates indicate that the team will operate with up to 4 stations on bands from 160-10m, using CW, SSB and RTTY/PSK31. They do not have plans to activate 6m. This past week Chris, VK3QB, mentioned that the team will focus on the 30/17/12 meters bands and RTTY. Also, they have authorization to operate on 60m.

They will also be participating in the Oceania DX Contest, both CW and SSB. Equipment will consist of 3 Kenwood TS-480HXs running 200w barefoot and a Elecraft K3, also barefoot. Antennas will be verticals mounted on the beach for 80m, 40m, 20m and an inverted L for 160m. A Cushcraft 3 element A3WS is proposed for the WARC activity. ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS
Operators Franz/OE2SNL, Wolfgang/OE2WNL and Tom/OE2ATN will be active as ZF2OE, in what they call a "Suitcase DXpedition", from Cayman Brac Island (NA-016) between October 21st and November 2nd. Activity will be focused on 160/80 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY, but they will also use the other bands, depending on the conditions. They will use two TS-480HXs with no amps.
