6V7, SENEGAL (Possibly C5)
Luc, F5RAV, will once again be active next
year (2012) from La Somone between February 25th and March 6th. He will
be operating from Jean-Francois, 6W7RV, QTH as 6V7T. Activity will
probably be the same as last time -- on SSB and PSK31, and on 160-10
meters (including 17 and 12m with a dipole only). He will also once
again be in the French REF SSB Contest (February 25-26th) and the ARRL
DX SSB Contest (March 3-4th). QSL via only direct to his home callsign.

ADDED NOTE: Luc will also try to be active as C56/F5RAV (or possibly
another callsign) from Banjul, The Gambia (C56), between the two weekends

9H, MALTA
Operators Tommy/DL8KX and Andy/DD8ZJ will be active as 9H3KX
from Gozo Island (EU-023, MIA MM-004, WLOTA 0046) between October 8-14th.

9Y, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
Jim, N6TJ, will once again be active as 9Y4W
during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as Single-Op/All-Band

CQ73, PORTUGAL
Members of the Algarve STAR DX Team will be active as
CQ73O between July 11-17th during the Faro International Moto Meeting.
Activity will be on all bands and modes. Operators mentioned are Luis/

EJ3, IRELAND (IOTA Op)
Members of the Galway Radio Experimenters Club
(EI4GRC) and the Shannon Basin Radio Club (EI2SBC) will be on air from
Inishbofin Island (EU-121) for the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 30-31st) as a
Multi-Op/Mixed-Mode/Low-Power entry using the callsign EJ3Z. This is
their second year of joining forces for this contest. Inishbofin is a
small island 9km off the west coast (53.37 North - 10.14 West). On the
days leading up to the contest, members will be active using their own
callsigns on HF and VHF; also watch out for EJ4GRC. Inishbofin Grid Sq.
is IO43VO.

GS, SCOTLAND (Lighthouse Op!)
Geoff, G0PFH, will be heading to Scotland
to activate a trio of lighthouses between July 25-29th. Geoff will be
activating the following ARLHS SCO lighthouses utilizing the Halifax
club callsign GS2UG:
Killantringan Lighthouse (SCO-111)
Port Patrick Lighthouse (SCO-177)
Southerness Lighthouse (SCO-223
)
Geoff is uncertain as to the order the lighthouses will be activated, but
the preliminary information is available on (QRZ.com) under the callsign

EU-031. Operators John/IK8LIU, Francesco/IK8WEJ, Vincenzo/IZ0FKE,

EU-081. A French-Belgium group will be active as TM5SM from Saint Marcouf Island (WLH LH0060, DIFM MA0001) between August 11-15th. NA-143. (Not NA-145 as mentioned in OPDX.1017) Joe, K5KUA, will be active as K5KUA/5 from Galveston Island (USI TX001S, Galveston County, Texas) between July 29th and August 1st. NA-070/
NA-232. Yuri, N3QQ, announced this past week that the St. Matthew
Island (NA-232) operation is back on for 2011. Yuri has managed
to team up with Mike Horn, well-known South African and Swiss
explorer, whose vessel is now in Kodiak. Yuri is planning to
arrive in Dutch Harbor on July 14th. Tim, NL8F, is expected
to join them, as well as Yuri, UA9OBA. Activation is expected
to take place between July 19-22nd, depending on Mike's schedule
and the weather. For more details and updates, watch:
OC-142. (Update) Operators Paul/VK4FPDW, Derek/VK4MIA, Mike/VK4QS and Graham/VK4FGCC will be active as VI4FI from the Sandy Cape Lighthouse (AU0043) on Fraser Island during the International Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend (August 20-21st). Activity will be on all HF bands "SSB ONLY" from 80-10 meters. Suggested frequencies are:

NCDXF PRESS RELEASES
NW6P RETIRES - Glenn Johnson, W0GJ, NCDXF Vice President, sent out
the following on July 4th: "Effective immediately Tom McShane, NW6P,
has resigned as a director and the secretary of NCDXF. Tom has been
on the board of directors and its secretary for over 15 yrs. Tom
suffered a serious stroke on January 25, 2011, and has been recuperating
since then. Tom felt that his stroke rehabilitation would be a full
time job for a number of months. The NCDXF board and officers wish Tom
continuing great success in his recovery. He will be missed."
SOUTHERN SUDAN - Glenn Johnson, W0GJ, NCDXF Vice President, sent out the following on July 6th: "The Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF) is pleased to announce a major grant to the Intrepid DX Group
OA4, PERU
NODXA member Byron, KF8UN, will be in Peru between July 22nd
and August 16th, and plans to be active as OA4/KF8UN. He states that he
plans to work 20 meters, devoting August 8th, to amateur radio, but will
be on casually at other times. Byron will check in as often as possible
with the YL International Single Sideband System Net on 14332 khz. He
will also try to operate mobile when possible. QSL via his home callsign.
OH0, ALAND ISLAND
Eric, SM1TDE, will be active as OH0/SM1TDE from Eckero
in the Aland Islands (EU-002) group between July 21-24th. Activity will
be holiday style. Look for him around 2 kHz from the bandedges on CW on
80-10 meters. QSL via the bureau, and later LoTW.
PJ5, SINT EUSTATIUS
Gerd, DL7VOG, announced that he will be active as
PJ5/DL7VOG from Sint Eustatius Island (NA-145) starting the middle of
November through the beginning of December. His three week operation
will also include the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th). Activity
will be on 160-6 meters using mainly CW and RTTY, but he will have a
microphone with him just case someone really needs a phone QSO. As always,
Gerd will be using his IC-706MK2G (this time with an amp) into an HF9VX
for 80-6m and an inverted "L" (on a 15m fiberglass pole) for 160m. QSL
via his home callsign, Bureau is preferred.
PJ7, SINT MAARTEN
Operators Travis/AF6WU and Kjerstin/KJ0DVA will be
active as PJ7/homecalls from Sint Maarten (NA-105, WLOTA 0711) between
August 11-15th. Activity will be mostly SSB on 20/17/15 meters. QSL
via LoTW or direct via AF6WU. U.S. stations please send one first class
stamp. International stations send 1 USD or 1 IRC. PLEASE NO SASE.

or probably through the Bureau.

Orlando, PT2OP, will be active as PQ3C

SILENT KEY
Keith, G3VKW, informs OPDX that Henry Lewis, G3GIQ, became
a "Silent Key" (SK) July 7th, in a hospital in Barnstable Devon. Henry
had recently left London and moved to Devon. OPDX and its readers would
like to send out our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of
G3GIQ.
ST0, SOUTHERN SUDAN (Update)
The Southern Sudan is now the world's
newest country as they celebrated its independence on Saturday, July
9th, with a flag-raising and a swearing-in ceremony for the new president
in the capital Juba. The special ceremony was attend by U.N. Secretary
General Ban Ki-moon and several other world delegates. On Friday, the
U.N. Security Council approved a new peacekeeping force for South Sudan.
The United Nations Security Council will endorse the Republic of Southern
Sudan to become a member before the General Assembly on July 14th. The
Southern Sudan is then expected to be the 193rd member/nation of the U.N.
The ARRL should recognize this new country once they obtain UN admission.
Meanwhile, Paul, N6PSE, reports that the Intrepid-DX Group and the DX Friends/Tifariti Gang is expected to activate this newly created country. They have had several meetings with this new government and they have obtained a valid license for this DXpedition. A team of 18 international operators are hoping to make 100,000 contacts over fourteen full days of operation on each amateur band and mode. If exact days for their operation are announced during the week, look for a special bulletin to be sent out. Stay tuned! For more details and updates watch:
T32, EAST KIRITIMATI
Giovanni, I5JHW, will be active as T32JB from the
Captain Cook Hotel on Christmas Island (OC-024) between August 17-24th.
Activity will be holiday style on CW, SSB and RTTY, using an IC-718 and
a 7-band vertical antenna. QSL via I5JHW.

T48, CUBA
Once again, members of the "Federación de Radioaficionados de
Cuba" in Las Tunas, will activate the contest callsign T48K during the
upcoming CQWW VHF Contest (July 16-17th) as a Multi-Single entry. They
will be on 6 and 2 meters from Grid Locator FL10mw, which was previously
activated on 6 meters during the June QSO Party. This activity will be
the very first time ever on 2 meter/CW/USB. QSL via DK1WI.
V6, MICRONESIA
Aaron, W6ANM, will be active as V63FAA from Kosrae (OC-059)
between July 26-29th, and Pohnpei (OC-010) between July 30th and August
4th. Activity will be focused on 40 and 20 meters using CW and SSB. A
contact can be scheduled via the E-mail address on (QRZ.com) for any HF

Members of the Old Barney ARC will
be operating as W2T from the Tucker's Island Lighthouse (USA-911) in the
Tuckerton Seaport
XE3/XF3, MEXICO (IOTA Op)
Andrea, IZ2LSC, will be active as XE3/IZ2LSC
between July 26th and August 8th. Activity will be holiday style on 30-6
meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. He will also make a side trip
to activate IOTA NA-045, Isla Mujeres, as XF3/IZ2LSC between August 9-14th.
Andrea informs OPDX that "According to RSGB IOTA website the Island has

ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS
Just a few more days to work Ann, W6NN, as ZF2LL
from Grand Cayman Island (NA-016) as her last day is July 12th. Activity
has been on 20 and 15 meters SSB. QSL via her home callsign, direct or

ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS
Operators Bob/W5UQ and Bill/W5SJ will be active as
ZF2UQ and ZF2EZ, respectively, between July 11-17th. They will be based
at the "Cayman Amateur Radio Society" (ZF1A) club station. Operation
will be primarily CW with an emphasis on 6 meters. Bill will operate
Single-Op in the CQWW VHF Contest (July 16-17th). Bill states, "It is
planned to be fun and relaxing - dits, dahs and beach!" Send QSLs for
