Members of the Scottish-Russian ARS will activate MM0DGR/p from the Blawhorn Moss National Nature Reserve (GMFF-009) on Saturday, 20th February, 2010. The portable station will be located at the Langside Wood (southwest corner of the reserve, near small town Blackridge); grid locator IO85CV, WAB NS86, EU Area SC32 (West Lothian), IOTA EU-005. For more info please have a look at:
Their equipment: Icom IC-706MKIIG with HLA-300 Plus (300W) HF Power Amplifier. Antenna: 40m long multiband doublet fed with 450-ohm feeder line, and mounted as an inverted "V" on a 15m high escalated fiberglass pole. CG-5000 automatic antenna coupler will be mounted at the bottom of the pole.
Participants of the ARRL International DX CW Contest will occupy all CW and PSK frequencies on Saturday, 20th February, 2010. Therefore, MM0DGR/p will adhere to the following frequencies ± QRM: 20m (SSB 14.244 MHz); 30m (BPSK63 10.142 MHz, CW 10.124 MHz); 40m (SSB 7.144 MHz). QSL cards via MM0DFV (preferably RSGB QSL-bureau).
Blawhorn Moss National Nature Reserve (NNR) is the largest and least disturbed lowland raised mire or bog in the Lothians. It is situated in the hills northwest of Blackridge, west of Armadale. Peatland was once common in Central Scotland but very little remains today with most bogs being cut for peat, drained for farming or planted for forestry. This makes remaining areas such as Blawhorn Moss very important. This expedition is organized under the WFF award program. If you still don't know about the WFF (World Flora and Fauna) award program, please have a look at the Web page:
