3W, VIETNAM (3W3MD - Press Release #2)[edited]

As already announced Da Nang City, Vietnam, will be the next destination of the Mediterraneo International Dx ClubTeam and so it will be soon on air any mode/any band. With the call-sign: 3W3MD. Antonio, IZ8CCW, the leader and the co-leader Gabriele, I2VGW, will share this new adventure with 24 DX operators coming from 9 countries. Save the dates because from October 31st to November 10th, they will be on air from the beach of Da Nang.

According to the evaluations that they have done, they are confident to give to a lot of DXers the possibility to work this country in the Low Bands, WARC and especially in the Digital modes.

Any donation will be very very appreciated by the team.

3Y/B, BOUVET 2016 (Final Update)
Mark, ON4WW, sent out the following [edited]:
Dear DXer -- Before sending out a press release, I wanted to share the following with those fellow hams who generously pledged to financially support the Bouvet Island "one-man three-month concept".

After press release #3, I was optimistic in terms of securing the re- quired funding for my expedition. Thanks to so many of you, the necessary up-front expenses were getting close to being covered by the pledges received at that time. I was also hopeful that the larger DX associations and foundations would step forward to contribute as we were getting close to realization.

At this point in time, I have no other choice than to report that the funding is not sufficient to move forward. As I am sure you know, there are a number of large DXpeditions being arranged for late 2015 and early 2016, and they are more or less competing for the same resources. I didn't manage to create sufficient interest among potential external (non-ham) donors, and my one-man concept is of course somewhat controversial by nature. Though, I am still convinced that - even if my particular approach is not necessarily the solution - future DXpeditioning has to find other forms in order to remain sustainable.

After having received permission for Bouvet from NPI (Norwegian Polar Institute), my wife (!), my employer (5 months leave without pay) and getting close to the sufficient up-front funding (you), this is a bitter pill to swallow. But I am extremely grateful to all of you for having lived this dream with me. And not the least to my angel sponsor who kept things going.

As I stated from the beginning, don't be sad, someone else will activate Bouvet!

Thank you again for your enthusiasm and devotion to our wonderful hobby.
73 - Mark - ON4WW

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE http://www.bandconditions.com:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual (REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre- dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry" which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

PW0, FERNANDO DE NORONHA
Ville, PY2ZEA (OH1MM), will once again be active as PW0F from Fernando de Noronha between May 12-20th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters using CW and SSB. He mentions that he is sorry but no RTTY this time or 6 meters. He also adds, "80 and 160 not sure due to the high noise level and limited space available at the QTH. Furthermore, it is almost summer in the Northern hemisphere, thus the propagation on the low bands is not optimal." QSL via OH2BH only. The logs will be merged with previous PW0F logs in due time (ClubLog and LoTW).

PY0, FERNANDO DE NORONHA
If you worked PY0NY this past week, it was Janio, PY4NY, from Fernando de Noronha. The special callsign PY0NY was used to celebrate the anniversary of the Airspace Control Unit of Fernando de Noronha and also Janio's 35 years of activities as a radio amateur. Activity was to end on May 9th. QSL via eQSL and LoTW. For more details, see QRZ.com.
