3XY, GUINEA (Reminder)
Look for operators Georg/DK7LX, Wolf/DL4WK, Sigi/DL7DF, Frank/DL7UFR, Jan/SP3CYY and Leszek/SP3DOI to be active as 3XY1D this week from Guinea between October 18th and November 1st. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. They plan to have several stations on the air using 5 transceivers (4 x K2, 1 x IC7000), 4 x kW linears, 2 x 18m Lowband Verticals, a 2 element vertical for 40m, a 2 elemet vertical for 30m, a vertical R7 for 40/30/ 20/17/15/12/10m, 2 Spiderbeams for 20/17/15/12/10m, a 5 element Yagi for 6m and some Beverage antennas. 4C, MEXICO (Special Event)
Members of the Club de Radio Experimentadores de Occidente (XE1TD) and in conjunction with the Federación Mexicana de Radio Experimentadores (FMRE) will activate special event station 4C1JPG between now and October 30th. Activity is to celebrate the 2011 and XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK and the Satellites. 6W7, SENEGAL

A5, BHUTAN
Operators Just/LA9DL and Erling/LA6VM will be active from Bhutan using the callsigns A52DL and A52VM, respectively, between November 3-13th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters using IC-7000s and amps. Look for the callsign A52DL to be mainly on PSK and SSB, while A52VM will be mostly on CW. QSL via their home callsigns.

A7, QATAR
Members of the Qatar Amateur Radio Society are heading for the beach again for a Multi-Operator/Multi-Transmitter entry in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th). This year the A73A team will include operators from nearly all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Operators mentioned are Ali/A71BX, Rashid/A71AD, Abdulla/A71CV, Khalid/ A71CO, Mohammad/A71EL, Saif/A71AM, Suli/7Z1SJ, Faisal/9K2RR, Hamad/9K2HN, Ibrahim/A61ZX, Farid/A41MX, Don/N1DG, Dave/K5GN and Tobias/DH1TW. The Field-Day style setup will begin the weekend before the contest, so look for A73A from then until sunrise, after the contest is when it all comes down. BA, CHINA (IOTA Op!)
David, BA4DW, informs OPDX readers that he has been activating the Chinese IOTA islands for 13 years. The first as BA4DW/5 from IOTA AS-137 back in year 1999. He will now activate his 16th IOTA group, the last of the mainland China's coastal IOTAs, as BA4DW/7 from IOTA AS-139, Weizhou Island in the Guangxi Autonomous Region Group between October 21-24th. His equipment will be a TS-50 and wire dipole antennas. QSL via his home callsign direct.

C2 & CE0Y, NAURU AND EASTER ISLAND

Vylery, UA0QV, has renewed his D2QV license to operate from Vila Catoca, Province Lunda Sul-Saurimo, Angola, until July 8th, 2112. Activity will be on 40/20/17/15/12/10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. He will use ICOM 756 PRO 2 into a 40m dipole and a 2 element QUAD for the other bands. If possible he wants to erect an antenna for 80 meters. DL, GERMANY
Operators Yoshi/JK2VOC and Takashi/JA2BNN will be active as DL/homecall between October 26th and November 1st. They plan to be in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th). QSL via their home callsigns.

DXCC NEWS (2011 Yearly Deadline Rapidly Approaching)
Bill Moore, NC1L, Awards Branch Manager, reports: "This is a reminder that the deadline for the DXCC Annual List (for the 2011 DXCC Yearbook) and the Honor Roll listing (scheduled to be published in August 2012 QST) is rapidly approaching. In order to appear in these listings, upon qualification, you must have your 2011 submission into DXCC by December 31, 2011. As always, all mail postmarked by December 31st will be OK for these listings." "Wild Bill", WB6BFG, is expected to be active sometime during October as E51BFG from Rarotonga Island (OC-013, WFF E5FF-002). Activity will be on the HF bands. QSL via LoTW or via his home callsign. "The Daily DX" reports that Bill is part of a Multi-Op team from California to be an entry in the CQWW SSB DX Contest (October 29-30th). No other details are available.

E5, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
Just a reminder that Bill, N7OU, will be active as E51NOU from Rarotonga Island (OC-013, WFF E5FF-002) between October 17th and November 7th. Activity will be limited to his spare time as work allows on 80-10 meters CW only. QSL via N7OU. He is expected to head to Manihiki Atoll (OC-014), North Cook Islands, after the Rarotonga operation between November 8-22nd.

E7, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

A Hungarian team will be active as EA6/homecall from the Balearic Islands between November 1-8th. Operators mentioned are Laci/HA7PL, Csaba/HA6PJ, Zsolt/HA6PS and Alex/HA7JJS. Their main goal is to take part in the HA QRP Contest (80m cw only) using the Radio Technika Szerkestosege callsign, EA6/HA5RT, but the operators will also work 80-10 meters using CW and SSB. H40, TEMOTU PROVINCE
German operators Peter/DG1FK and Sigi/DK9FN will once again return to Temotu Province for a third time and be active as H40FK (PSK/RTTY) and H40FN (CW), respectively. Activity will again be from Lata Motel on Nendo Island (OC-100) between February 7-20th, 2012. Operations will probably be on 160-6 meters depending on the band con- ditions. HP, PANAMA
Rene, HP1DCP, will be active during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power entry. QSL via HP1DCP.

IOTA NEWS
EU-174. Operators Peter/HA5OV (J48OV) and Laci/YU7CM (J48CM) will be active from Thassos Island, Greece, between October 26th and November 2nd. Activity will include the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) with J48OV as a Single-Op/Single-Band (40m) entry, and J48CM as a Single-Op/Single-Band (80m) entry. QSL via their home callsigns. Also, look for them to be active November 1-2nd in the HA QRP (80m, CW only) contest.

NA-240. NEW IOTA/DATE CHANGE! Rick, K6VVA, is currently making plans for another Alaskan IOTA next year, this time to the Bethel County IOTA Group. The group contains Kwigluk and Pingurbek Islands. The operation depends on a few final details and WX. The dates of the operation have been changed to accommodate those going to Friedrichshafen, so the dates are now June 28-30th, 2012 (not June 22-24th, 2012, as first announced). Fernando, LU1ARG, Secretary of the Radio Club Argentino (RCA - www.lu4aa.org), informs that the RCA will be active as L90AA starting October 21st through the end of the month. Activity is to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the RCA founded in 1921. The RCA is one of the oldest amateur radio associations in the world, and was also one of the founders of the IARU in 1925. OH0, ALAND ISLAND

AT0ULH QSL STATUS. QSL Manager Deepak, VU2CDP, announced this past week that "the QSL cards have been printed and few direct requests have been answered over the last weekend. The rest would continue to be answered during the coming weekends." Bureau requests can be sent via E-mail to him at "vu2cdp [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] in" to speed up the turn-around time. Bureau cards will be sent out as part of his annual dispatch to the VU Bureau in December.

QSL HO1X and HP1/DJ2ST via DK2KT only. Activity was from Panama by Swen, DJ2ST. The callsign HO1X was used during the WAG Contest (This past weekend) from Contadora Island (NA-072), and HP1/DJ2ST was used outside the contest.

ST0R QSL STATUS. Antonio, EA5RM, informs that he will have mailed more than 26,000 QSOs by Monday, October 17th. He states that the pile of QSL cards are still too high, but expects to finish with the donors and OQRS cards before he leaves home to go to Andorra and participate in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) with the C37N team of URA, URE and REF operators (see (QRZ.com) or go to http://www.gdgdxc.net/c37n ).

VK0TH QSL STATUS. QSL Manager Masa, JE1LET, reports that the Macquarie Island QSL cards for VK0TH are now being prepared. It will take some weeks before the cards are sent. Please do not rush your requests for the card. Requesting later, and giving him some time, will be greatly appreciated.

With more than a week to go, the Five Star DXers Association (FSDXA) group continues to be very active as T32C from Kiritimati (Christmas Island) until October 26th. T6, AFGHANISTAN (Update)
Les, WB8LES, Defense Contractor pilot who is stationed in FOB (Forward Operation Base) Shank, Loghar Province, announced T6LB is on the air from Afghanistan. He states that he was surprised about the pile-up on the air, and he is trying hard to get as many of you in the log as possible. Les is expected to be on the air every day starting at around 1300z until November 2nd. He mentions, "I am going to work 14310 kHz and up. The noise level here is about 6db constant. Hopefully, I can make some adjustments to the antenna location to improve that. 40 meters and 17 meters are to follow." Les will be posting updates and the times and frequencies (for 40/20 meters) on (QRZ.com) for those who need a T6 confirmation. He is expected to be there until November 7th. QSL via WB8LES.

T8, PALAU
Operators Nob/JA1KSO (T88NB), Hiroshi/JH1WXT (T88XT) and Tsuyako/JR1WMO (T88WL) will be active from the Palau Pacific Resort on Arakebesang Island (Koror Island) between October 29th and November 2nd. Look for them to sign as T8AA in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th). QSL via JH1WXT.

TX5, MARQUESAS ISLANDS (Update to OPDX.1030/Reminder)
An international team of operators will be active as TX7M from Hatiheu, Nuku Hiva (OC-027) this week between October 19th and November 1st. They plan to be active on 160-10 meters (including 30/17/12m) using CW, SSB and RTTY, with 4 stations on at the same time on different bands and modes. Suggested TX frequencies are:
CW: 1831.7, 3527.7, 7027.7, 10107.7, 14027.7, 18077.7, 21027.7, 24897.7, 28027.7 and 50106 kHz
SSB: 1840.7, 3797.7, 7077.7, 14197.7, 18167.7, 21297.7, 24987.7, 28497.7 and 50130 kHz
RTTY: 1840.7, 3585, 7038, 10132, 14082, 18097.7, 21082, 24922 and 28082 kHz

V4, ST. KITTS (NA-104)
Andy, N2NT, will be active as V47NT from the QTH of V47KP during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 26-27th) as a Single-Op/ All-Band/High-Power entry. QSL via W2RQ.

VC2, CANADA
Operators Noel/VE2BR and Gregg/VE3ZZ will once again operate as a Multi-Single entry in the CQWW SSB DX Contest (October 29-30th) using the special callsign VC2Z. QTH will be Mercier, Quebec (Zone 5, Grid Loc FN35ch). QSL to VE2BR direct or by the Bureau.

VK9C, COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS
Just a reminder that Lot/DJ7ZG and Babs/ DL7AFS will be active as VK9CX between October 19th and November 9th. Activity will be on 80-6 meters using SSB, RTTY and PSK. QSL via DL7AFS.

VK9X & VK9C, CHRISTMAS AND COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS
Pekka, OH2YY, will be active as VK9XM from Christmas Island (OC-002) on November 4th, and then again between November 8-11th. He will also be active as VK9CM from Cocos (Keeling) Island (OC-003) between November 5-7th. Activity will be on 40-10 meters SSB only. Pekka states, "I'm going to use a 200w trans- ceiver but the antenna set-up is still under consideration." QSL via his home callsign, direct or by the SRAL QSL Bureau. VU2, INDIA
Pai, VU2PAI, in Mangalore, will be active during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. Activity will be on 160-10 meters. QSL via VU2PAI direct (QRZ.com address).

ZA20, ALBANIA
Operators Steve/HA0DU, Joe/HA0LC, Imi/HA0MK, Laci/HA0NAR and Fatos/ZA1G will active using the special callsign ZA20QA from Vlore between October 25th and November 1st. Activity is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1991 ZA1QA DXpedition by Jani/HA0NNN and Gyozi/HA0MM. Operations will be on 160-2 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. They will also participate in CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th). QSL via HA0NAR.

ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND
Marko, N5ZO, will be active as ZD8O from Ascension Island (AF-003) during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via OH0XX. Marko informed OPDX that he will be there by October 20th and will leave on November 1st. He states that he will operate some CW and SSB prior to contest probably starting the weekend preceding the contest. Activity will be on all HF bands, but not on the 30/17/12 meter bands. He states, "I'm not going there for a DXpedition, and my main focus will be on preparing for the contest, but I will operate a bit here and there before the event to test out equipment and antennas, but I will not operate hours and hours during the week preceding the contest. After the contest I don't expect to turn the radio on."

ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND (Update)
Operators Al/W6HGF/ZD8F and Tom/K7ZZ/ZD8ZZ will be active from Garden Cottage on top of Green Mountain on Ascension Island (AF-003) between November 8-22nd. Look for Al to focus on RTTY, while Tom will provide the CW operations. Both operators will operate SSB at times, and there may be some 6 meter opening opportunities. QSL via their home callsigns direct only or LoTW. It appears that there is no internet available for them on the mountain.
